Chapter 25 You've gotten better at running away now.
Evelina knew most how much her father valued the family's reputation.
Ever since she was a child, Pearl was always Anthony's favorite. Yet, seven years before, he severed
all connections with this precious daughter to protect the family's reputation in the whole seven years.
Evelina found that her father's eyes became cold; her heart sank. "Dad, I have nothing to do with the
photos. I just..."
Before she finished her sentence, a relative came to propose a toast to her. Anthony gave a warning
look to Evelina, so she immediately shut her mouth. She forced a smile and toasted with the relative.
Richard suppressed his coldness in eyes. He turned around to look for Pearl but only to find that Pearl
was leaving with the twins. The slender figure almost disappeared at the entrance of the hall.
Richard's eyes darkened. He followed her.
The scorching sun in July seemed to be able to melt everything on the ground.
Pearl held Bonny with one hand and took Brandon's hand with the other hand. They were hailing a taxi
on the street. Yet, all the passing taxis were occupied.
It had been a long while before a black car slowly stopped in front of her. The window rolled down,
revealing a cold face. His dark eyes were so composed that made her felt a little frightened. "I see that
you've gotten better at running away now."
The expression on Pearl's face changed. Her neck stiffened.
"Get into the car."He said without any expression.
Pearl wanted to refuse him but Bonny broke free from her. She ran over to the car window and greeted
sweetly, "Daddy!"
Hearing that, Pearl's face turned pale. "Bonny, what are you doing?"
Bonny turned around. She blinked at Pearl innocently. "Brandon called him Daddy, so couldn't I call him
Daddy? Brandon and I have different Daddies?"
Pearl's experssion was stiffer than ever.
It was too abrupt, and she had no the time to ask Brandon about it.
Before Pearl came up with a solution, Richard had opened the car door. Then Bonny climbed into the
car without a care.
Pearl was still in a daze. So Brandon tugged her hand and said calmly, "Mommy, just get in the car first.
It's so hot."
Was it hot?
Pearl couldn't feel the heat at all. When she saw Richard's icy face, her blood was frozen.
The car sped off and joined the traffic quickly. Inside the car, it was very quiet.
The twins were sitting between the two adults. Bonny got in the car first, sitting next to Richard.
No one was speaking, so Bonny looked around. She finally fixed her eyes on Richard's face. A few Property belongs to Nôvel(D)r/ama.Org.
minutes later, she widened her eyes in surprise and shouted, "Daddy, I've seen you before."
Richard watched at her quietly. He didn't correct her or responded to her.
Bonny looked over her shoulder and asked, "Brandon, he was the uncle who bought medicine for us!"
"What medicine?" Pearl was confused.
Brandon replied carelessly, "I bumped into them at the pharmacy when you had a fever."
"No, it was not a coincident," Bonny interrupted. Her eyes were twinkling. "Daddy must come to see us
on purpose!"
Pearl didn't know anything about it. So Bonny began to explain. It took Pearl a long time before she
fully understood the whole thing. The twins happened to meet Richard as they were out buying
medicine at the pharmacy.
Did they really bump into him? She was not sure. She gave Richard a questioning look.
But Richard turned his face and looked out of the window.
She clenched her fists and tried to fake a smile to herself.
What was she looking forward?
