My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna)

Chapter 2224

Chapter 2224

"Who told you that Hendrix is going to work with you?" I said harshly, not intending to give Jordan any leeway.

Was he trying to drag Hendrix down with him? I won't let that happen.

He had dirt on Hendrix, but not me. Since Hendrix and I were a unit, we should overcome these difficulties together. As long as one person remained clear-headed, those with evil intentions would never succeed.

"Is that so?" Jordan then glared at me, there was a hint of mockery in his voice. After sizing me up, he sat down calmly. He then leisurely took out his cigar and lit it up. He then said slowly, "Arianna, I'm afraid you've forgotten that the Roberts Group belongs to the Roberts, not the Reids."

Like lava, sparks spread from the tip of his cigar. He took a deep breath, smoke then drifted into the air. "But for me, that's not the most important thing. All I want is Hendrix to join me. I don't care about the resources he could bring to the table."

I thought he was after the assets under our names, or at the very least, he had wanted to take advantage of our influence as the wealthiest couple in the world. But after hearing this, I couldn't figure out what he actually wanted.

He wasn't after money nor our family's resources. He wanted Hendrix.

There's no doubt that Hendrix was a very capable man. Given enough time, he could start up another company that will be on par with the Roberts Group.

But this still didn't make sense.

Why wasn't Jordan aiming for the Roberts Group, which was right in front of him? Why would he rather have Hendrix and wait for an outcome that would materialize five years later? How did this make any sense?

All I was certain about was that all the effort he had spent to get Hendrix over to his side wasn't doing Hendrix any good.

Maybe Nathan's influence was so vast that it had distorted Jordan's view on life. To him, success wasn't defined by law but by how much greater a person could be above the lave

It was at this moment that I realized I couldn't give Hendrix to him.

"Since you don't care about that, you can leave now, I stood up and "I

pointed him to the door. "I won't be seeing you off." "There's no hurry." Jordan flicked the ashes off his cigarette slowly. "I'll leave after Hendrix has packed his stuff up. We're going on a business trip. He's going to need a few changes of clothing, doesn't he?" Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.

With that said, he then turned to Hendrix. "Don't you agree?"

"I'm good." Hendrix stood up impatiently by leaning on the sofa. "You've already seen what you want to see. Let's talk about other things outside."

Jordan knew when to put a stop to

this. He smirked and put out his

cigarette in the ashtray. He stood up

slowly and looked at me with satisfaction before turning around to leave.

Hendrix was about to catch up to him when I immediately stepped forward to stop him. "Stay right there!"

"Without my permission, you're not allowed to go anywhere. Do you hear me?"

If I had a mirror in front of me right now, I was sure that I looked scary. So much so that Hendrix was dumbfounded.

It took him quite a while to react to this. He nodded his head, gesturing that he wouldn't act rashly.

Jordan heard me and turned around. He stared at me blankly and said nothing. He thought his aura alone would make me fear him and give in.

But he had underestimated the determination of a woman who was protecting her beloved.
