Chapter 375 The Infight

Janet cooled off and raised her eyebrow. “No reason. Do I need them?”

Then she remembered something else and sneered at Donahueiel.

“Besides, you never believed what I said anyways. Would you believe it even if I told you why I fancied

you?”

Donahueiel choked up. A glimpse of panic swept across his handsome face, then disappeared.

He spoke in a hurry, but his tone was firm.

“I will! I’ll believe whatever you say!”

Janet was irked. Her expression went as cold as the freezing winter. “You do.

But I don’t.”

As she spoke, she took back her hand and drew her distance. Then she looked at Donahueiel coldly.

She curled her lips in self–ridicule. “Almost forgot why I’m here.

“Mr. Webster, did you know that you were spotted by the paparazzi and are now trending?”

Donahueiel’s eyes widened. He didn’t.

He’d been napping in his car since he bought the morning cereal for Janet.

“Never mind, then,” said Janet, irritated.

“I’ll deal with the trending problem. Mr. Webster, as I told you before a thousand times to stay away fro

m me, I’m telling you one last time, go away

and stay away.

“Surely, you, too, wouldn’t want others to have the wrong idea that there’s

something between us.”

Janet finished and proceeded to exit the car.

But Donahueiel grabbed her wrist again.

Janet flared up and looked back at Donahueiel furiously. “Let go!”

“Janet…” Donahueiel’s voice lowered, and he gave Janet a weird, puppy–eyed

look.

“Janet, could you please give me one last chance?”

All kinds of unexpressed emotions were bottled up inside Donahueiel’s narrow

eyes, and he said in a hurry, “I’m not asking for you to forgive me right now.

It’s just… I fancy you.”

Janet looked at him like she saw something absurd.

A while

later, she ripped her hand away from him and was so angry she could laugh. “You disgust me, Donahu

eiel Webster!

“You would go this far just to get your Quintina back? Don’t you feel even a little bit sick about yourself l

ike this?”

“I…”

Janet took off her phone with a sneer. She quickly and precisely located

Donahueiel Webster’s number from her “Blocked” list and sent a video.

Donahueiel instinctively took out his phone to view it.

“Don’t worry, Donahueiel. Quintina still lives. Don’t worry about me killing

her. I will not sully my hands with her blood!”

Janet then swiftly exited the car before Donahueiel could respond.

Donahueiel looked towards her back and reverted his attention to his phone

quite a while later.

The video Janet sent was some sort of surveillance footage.

Quintina was sitting in a dark room. The room was so dark that it was almost

choking, and she curled up in the corner.

Faint sounds of baby weeps came from the phone. It was bone–chilling.

Quintina’s cries were also mixed with her laughter, somehow.

She seemed to be muttering about something. It was hard to make out. But she

cried and laughed and hardly looked sane anymore.

Inside the wards at City Hospital.

Mathilda Longfellow leaned beside the hospital bed. Her eyes shut tight from

exhaustion.

She was hooked up to an IV, and she looked haggard. The once beautiful face

now looked ten years older due to wrinkles from a lack of maintenance.

The ward door opened, and Coral walked in with the food box. Tears filled her

eyes as she saw Mathilda on the bed.

Mathilda opened her eyes at the sound and was relieved to see it was Coral. “Coral… My darling daug

hter. You are the only one that came. A thousand curses to that… deadbeat dad of yours!”

Mathilda became emotional, and she coughed.

Coral pouted in dissatisfaction, but she kept it in and went to pat Mathilda on

the back.

“Mom, let it go. With all this time you’ve spent in the hospital ward, I’m

afraid… we don’t have much money left to afford such a cost,” said Coral with

a resentful look, and she clenched her hands.

“It was all thanks to that bitch Janet!” Coral said in hatred. “We wouldn’t even

be in this mess if it weren’t for her!”

Mathilda sneered. “Don’t worry. I still got a bit of Conrad’s lifesaving fund

right here. It’ll hold for a while. We’ll get her back once I’m out of here.”

On that last word, the ward door was opened again. This time with a loud bang.

Coral and Mathilda both jumped and looked toward it.

Conrad was wrapped up tight with a hat and a mask, and he strode in.

He threw off his hat and ripped off his mask as he walked in, and he stared maliciously at Mathilda. “Ma

thilda Longfellow, you bitch! Where did you take the last of my money?”

Mathilda sat up straight and looked at Conrad in ridicule. “What? Are you

abject now as well? And you wouldn’t dare show your face unless you wrapped

yourself up like that?” She skirted around Conrad’s question.

Conrad was so furious he was pacing in the ward. He looked at Mathilda as if his gaze could poison so

meone.

“How dare you! If you hadn’t stabbed me in the back, how would I end up getting sued by that bitch Jan

et, huh? The investigation is still ongoing, and the court nags me every day. Nuts!”

Mathilda sealed her lips, but her taunts were riddled with hatred.

“Didn’t that little lover of yours go to your aid? You paid that bitch quite a lot, all of them you ripped off fr

om me! And now you have the audacity to come to me saying that you’re out of options?”

Conrad was so furious he could burst a vein and went up, trying to slap

Mathilda. His face was hideous, like a monster.

Coral was quick to react this time and grabbed on tight to Conrad.

“Dad, you are trying to hit Mom! Are you insane?”

Coral was furious. She yelled at Conrad, trying to push him away.

Conrad was also furious and yelled, “I would have been made head of Longfellow Group if it weren’t for

her! Think about it, Coral, if I had ended up on top, would I have any reason to forget about you? Your

mother’s a

backstabber without a conscience!”

Mathilda turned pale in anger. She swiftly stood up and pointed at Conrad with

shaking hands.

“Seems to me that you were already dumping us! Had

your plan succeeded but this once, me and Coral would have been thrown out already!”

Conrad was furious his plot was exposed. Veins appeared on his head, and he gasped.

“You bitch!” Conrad roared. “Stop your venomous slander…”

“ENOUGH! SHUT UP!”

Coral yelled out suddenly. The ward instantly quieted down.

Mathilda turned her face and cried herself out of breath. Conrad’s face was

livid, and he turned the other way without a word.

Coral was so exasperated by her parents she instantly flared up.

“Mom, Dad! Is this really the time to pick a fight? Janet is the one to blame for what happened to our fa

mily!

“Aren’t we supposed to stand together against our common

enemy at a time like this? If we keep this up and our family shattered, then Janet will be the one smiling

on our corpses!”
