My Most Precious Human

Chapter 58

Chapter 58

Regaining consciousness hurt. The drilling headache felt like my brain was about to explode. I was

blindfolded and gagged. The tight rope was binding my ankles and wrists together as if I was some

kind of animal on its way to the slaughter house. I was cold. I could still feel my light dress on me, and

my bare feet were freezing.

From the shakes and bumps that tossed my body around, I guessed that I was inside some vehicle,

going in an unknown direction. I knew I had to find out more about the situation I was in. I lied on one

side and started rubbing my face against the floor, hoping to remove my blindfold. I removed it from

one eye, then I rolled over to the other side, and finally, the blindfold came off. Unfortunately, it didn't

help much. It was dark and the only light came from a half-inch-diameter control bulb. Nonetheless, it

was enough for me to realize I was inside the trunk. I strengthened my focus to look for any sharp

objects. Certainly, I was aware that those who hijacked me wouldn't be stupid enough to leave

something like that behind, but I still counted on the tiniest bit of luck…

I tensed up my numb muscles, trying to crawl, making a series of small movements until my feet

reached the side of the trunk. I thought it would be easier if I could use my legs to push myself against

it while looking for anything that could cut the ropes.

"Hey! You're awake?" a hoarse male voice called out.

I froze, but then realized this was a voice coming from the inside of the vehicle. I crawled close to the

inner side and leaned an ear against it.

"Yeah…" Another man yawned, "At least my arm regenerated."

"That dandy guy got you good!" The hoarse man chuckled.

"Watch it Zeke!" the other man growled, "You weren't even fast enough to touch him!"

"Chill, I was just joking. Don't have to be so serious. Geez…" Zeke huffed.

"That fucker killed six of ours before we got him down, and you would have been the seventh if it

weren't for me, so shut the fuck up!" The other guy snarled.

"Whatever, Tyce. As I recall, it wasn't you who got him, but Hawk and his silver bullets." Zeke sneered,

"Who would have thought the fucker wasn't even a vamp…"

"What are you talking about?!" Tyce snapped.

"He bled as a mere human would." Zeke snickered, "Such a waste of silver bullets…"

"Human?!" Tyce burst out.

"Yeah." Zeke snorted, "Don't you think he would have sensed us sooner if he was vamp?"

"Guess so… But he certainly fought as a vamp would," Tyce grunted.

I let out a silent cry, realizing they were talking about Patrick. He fought to protect me, and he got shot

with silver bullets... I bet that neither he, Mr. Gotha, nor Gabriel thought that there would be wolves

involved, not to mention the whole team of warriors. The wolves sounded like they had killed them, but

I still hoped that maybe, just maybe, he miraculously survived. I prayed he would.

He got shot because of me, because of my naïve thinking and ignorance. I should have known better. I

should have trusted my instincts. I blamed myself for the situation I ended up in. At that moment, I had

to use everything I had to save myself from becoming the Northern Alpha's slave.

"Lilith, you can do this." I told myself, "You can overcome the fear. You will forget about the pain, and

you will get yourself out of this trunk!" I clenched my teeth, trying to boost my strength with my anger.

The road was bumpy. It was hard to move in the direction I wanted to go because my body kept being

tossed from side to side. Suddenly, a metal strip fell off from the tailgate of the trunk. I could barely

believe the luck I had. I began to struggle, writhing and stretching my tied-up hands, hoping to grasp it.

Fortunately, Zeke and Tyce talked and laughed inside the car, drowning out most of the sounds I made.

Finally, I was able to touch the piece of metal with the tips of my fingers. I stretched my hands to the

maximum and grabbed it. I almost cried once I did, but my luck ended there. The metal strip was

completely blunt…

"Lilith, you cannot give up just yet. Think!" I motivated my brain to work.

My hands were shaking from cold and fear, but I managed to squeeze the metal within the node and

used it as a lever to loosen the rope. The tightening bonds tore my skin, making me bleed, but I didn't

stop until I released my hands and feet. After I did, I took the gag out. A painful moan left my throat

once I did. The corners of my lips were torn, and my tongue was bleeding from the sharp edge of the

gag that was placed inside my mouth. I guessed my kidnappers didn't care if I got hurt on the way to

their Alpha or not. I merely needed to be alive.

The car was still moving, and I had no idea where I was, but I knew I had to get out of there. An insane

plan popped out in my head, telling me to open the trunk and jump out of the running car. I thought I

could see the lock in the slight crack between the back side of the trunk and the tailgate. I grabbed the

metal strip and tried to slip it into the crack. Finally, it moved.

I slightly raised the tailgate and gazed out onto the road. As soon as I did, I saw another's car hood. It

was driving close, clearly following the one that I was in. I figured there could have been a whole

column of cars driving that way. So much for my plan to escape unnoticed…

"What the… ?!" I heard Zeke shouting and violently hitting the breaks.

I heard the sound of cars crashing. It wasn't the one I was in, but I expected a hit to come a second

later. It came. The impact tossed me against the inner side of the trunk, making me hit my head. The

car driving behind us barely turned to the side and avoided hitting the trunk I was in. My heart almost

burst out of my chest in the process. All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.

The cars stopped. I heard angry growls and the sounds of car doors slamming. I decided not to move

until I could figure out what was going on. I cringed at the back of the trunk and listened to the noises

outside. There were a lot of full-of-rage voices, yelling and thundering, followed by snarls and growls.

Then came the sounds of a gruesome fight. The roars and bellows quickly turned into painful screams

and wails. I heard the sounds of bones crushing, slashing flesh, and smashing windows and metal. I

flinched each time I heard a horrifying sound, but at the same time, my heart became weirdly calm.

Suddenly, someone ran through the top of the car I was in, jumped off, and opened the tailgate of the

trunk.

"Did you miss me, Lilith?" Sariel smirked, leaning over my cringed body.

I heaved a sigh of relief while tears drew lines down my cheeks.
