Chapter 576 The United Front

As the saying went, birds of a feather flocked together. And it was true. Gunner and Maxwell belonged

to the same kind of people to a substantial extent. But Gunner looked milder, while Maxwell was more

ruthless.

When Gunner finished speaking, he found Faye kept staring at him in silence, so he smiled, "You don't

believe me?"

Faye said lightly, "Andy, call Maxwell."

Gunner said, "Yes! Call him!"

Hearing this, Andy took out his phone and dialed Maxwell's number. But no one answered the call after

the phone had rung for a long time. NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.

Andy said, "Madam, he did not answer."

Faye smiled and said, "I see."

Hearing this, Lance was gearing up. He deliberately moved his wrists in front of Gunner and made his

joints rattle.

Gunner was a young master of a wealthy family and had been pampered since childhood, so he had

never been beaten. Now, he wanted to explain but had no evidence, so he could only helplessly say, "I

swear what I said is true."

Lance said, "You swear?"

Gunner nodded, "Yeah, I swear."

Lance tutted, "Do you think we are playing house with you? We are all adults. But you are trying to fool

us by swearing? If the police suspect you of murder, will they let you go when you tell them you did not

do it?"

Gunner fell silent.

Lance mocked, "Do you think they will praise you for swearing sincerely and believe you're innocent?"

Gunner was speechless.

Lance was incredibly good at making sly digs at others. He did not use rude words but could hit

people's pain points heavily. As he finished speaking, the air froze for a few seconds. When he was

about to punch Gunner, the latter suddenly said, "Call him with my phone! Call his private number!"

Lance stopped his punch in time, turned his head to look at Faye, and asked, "What should I do?"

Faye said, "Use his phone to call Maxwell."

Lance nodded and frisked Gunner. After finding the phone, he squatted in front of him to ask for the

password and Maxwell's private number.

After a few minutes, the call was finally answered, and Maxwell asked in a weak voice on the other end

of the phone, "What's wrong?"

Hearing his voice, Lance raised his hand and slapped Gunner on the back of the head.

Gunner gasped in pain before saying, "You sound weird. What happened?"

Maxwell replied, "I got beaten severely just now."

Gunner said, "I am calling to tell you that everything is fine here."

Hearing this, Maxwell kept silent for a moment and then burst into laughter, asking, "You were caught?"

Gunner was speechless.

Maxwell said with a smirk, "Give the phone to Faye."

Since Maxwell had found it out, Gunner gave up hiding it. He simply leaned against the wall and said

lazily, "You must explain it clearly. Otherwise, they would kill me."

Maxwell smiled mockingly, "If you don't take the initiative to provoke her, she won't kill you."

Gunner snapped, "Beauty in eyes, friends off mind!"

Then, Lance stood up and handed Faye the phone.

She took it over and said coldly, "Hi, Maxwell."

Maxwell teased, "Gunner is my friend, and I sent him over to protect you. Don't misunderstand.

Although he looks a bit wretched, he is a good person."

Faye sneered, "I don't think a good guy would hire people to pick the lock of my door in the middle of

the night!"

Hearing this, Maxwell paused for a second before repeating, "He hired people to pick the lock of your

door in the middle of the night?"

Faye sneered in response.

Maxwell said, "Kill him. Don't consider my feelings."

When Maxwell finished speaking, Faye kept silent, but Gunner who was leaning against the wall in the

corner sat up and cursed, "Maxwell, are you still a human? I risked my life for you, but you let her kill

me?"

Maxwell sneered, "She is a pretty woman, after all. I'm trying to help. Believe me, you won't want to be

killed by Colin."

Gunner snapped, "I should have worked for Brandon instead of you. I am such a bad judge of

character!"

Lance thought his swears were too annoying, so he shoved the cloth into his mouth again. Gunner

glared at him but was unable to utter a word.

When Maxwell heard Gunner suddenly fall silent, he was not anxious but said in a rare serious tone,

"Don't worry. I have reached a cooperation agreement with Colin, so I will not do anything treacherous.

Gunner's family has a wide network of contacts in Bomsville, so Brandon will not hurt him easily. You

will be safer if you let him stay by your side."

Faye asked, "Why should I trust you?"

Maxwell chuckled, "Faye, it is not because I care about you that I sent him to protect you. I did it for my

own sake. Only if you're safe will Colin continue cooperating with me."
