Chapter 13
Chapter 013 Thinking nothing of the world After nodding a greeting to Waynett, Veromca opened the car door.
Annette got into the car with downcast eyes.
Veromca got on from the other side.
"How's your grandma?"
He enquired after closing the door.
Glen had finally recovered from the shock that Master Veromca, the sixth son of the noble Lancaster family, should have opened the door for Annette himself, and began to start the engine mechanically.
Waynett replied, "Under the treatment of an army medical doctor.
But not well."
But his eyes had never left Annette when he was speaking.
The girl sat at the back seat, tilting her body and playing a phone game just in a way that made her as comfortable as possible.
She just went on her own way.
But her grim aura was overwhelming enough to stop everyone from pointing a finger at her.
So she was the doctor Veromca had been talking about? Knowing Old Mrs Lancaster was in bad condition, Veromca, who had always maintained his composure well, now failed to contain his irritation.
"How come she’s getting worse now when she's said to be improving the other day?"
"I don't know."
That was the dry answer from Waynett’s thin lips.
As his eyes now fell on the bright red rubber band around Annette's wrist, he lifted his eyebrows a little - How odd that girl who always put on black outfit should have worn a red rubber band! Anyway, that just rendered the skin of her hand even more fair.
His eyes were too sharp to neglect that Annette could perceive that even without raising her head.
She just shifted into a more comfortable pose and went on with her game nonchalantly, not even moving her eyes.
She really thought nothing of the world.
Supercilious her! The car pulled to a stop in front of the Lancaster House.
"Waynett, you take Annette in, and I wait outside."
Veromca told Waynett.
"Better to get in together.
Grandma missed you very much."
Waynett put on a gentle look, still with one hand in the pocket.
Veromca hesitated for a moment and then nodded.
As the property of an old noble family, the historic Lancaster House was a quaint garden with its own distinct style.
Layers of yards were encircled by white walls upon floor of marble of porcelain white.
The yard of old Mrs Lancaster was brightly lit up like daytime and full of people, either direct or indirect clans of this family.
Upon Veromca’s appearance in that yard, the whole atmosphere dramatically changed.
Countless eyes locked on him, stamped with defense and vigilance.
The serious health condition of old Mrs Lancaster had got this big family to the edge of collapse.
One more heir only meant loss of benefits of everyone from this gigantic amount of legacy.
None of these escaped Annette’s observation though she watched it with hands in her jacket pockets carelessly.
Almost all the big shots from the military, political and business communities of Colette Town were gathering here.
No wonder.
That was Lancaster family of Colette Town! Waynett observed Annette from the corner of his eye: still with a languorous look, she walked as if passing through nobody.
Her aloof eyes appeared so deep now, with her iconic rebellious wickedness.

He said to himself, as all were faces that occupied everyday news and she remained so nonchalance.
Lifting his eyebrows, Waynett looked back and went straight into the room ignoring the crowd.
Veromca was greeting these people by nodding slightly when a woman popped out.
