Chapter 9
Chapter 9
Vivianna stroked her son's tiny head and smiled. "Well, didn't I tell you? Mommy didn't know who your daddy was back then, so we won't be looking for him, okay?"
"Mommy, I heard that godfathers are popular nowadays. Wait and see. I'll get someone to back you up the next time." Zephaniah put his hands on his waist and said this.
Vivianna heard his words and she was amused. She looked at the little fellow and said, "No, mommy doesn't need you to look for a godfather! I can protect myself, and I can protect you."
The little fellow pursed his lips, as if he wasn't giving up on the idea he had just thought of.
"Mommy still has some work to do. I'll ask Miss Winslow to bring you to buy some food, okay?" Vivianna brought her son to her office.
She spoke to Winslow, "Zeph didn't eat anything at noon time. Can you bring him to a snack? He likes bread."
"Sure! Leave that to me! There is a bakery who sells really delicious bread nearby!" Winslow said as she smiled at the little fellow.
"Go ahead! I might have to work late. Have more food, don't get hungry!" Vivianna pushed him gently.
The little fellow nodded and said, "Okay, mommy, I'll bring you some cakes."
"Okay, I will wait for you to bring them to me." Vivianna smiled and stroked his little head.
Winslow took his hand and left. Vivianna reminded them to be careful on the road.
Linda walked in from behind and asked her, "How was it, Vivianna?"
"I know Mrs. Lambert, but she didn't come with good intentions. She came here specifically to confront me," Vivianna said frankly.
"What do you mean by that? Why was she here to confront you?" Linda was puzzled.
Vivianna exhaled some air. "She is the woman from my past who plotted with my ex-husband to drive me away. Now, she is the current Mrs. Lambert."
"What? It's her? Vivianna, I feel sorry for you. Do you want to face the members of the Lambert family so soon? Did she make things difficult for you?" Linda asked.
"I returned to this city, knowing that I'll meet them sooner or later. I'll have to face them eventually. I'm prepared for it," she said.
"You are doing this for Zeph?" Linda asked.
"Yes. Right now, I only care about my son. As long as I think of Zeph, I don't care about any past resentments," she said.
"You're a strong mother. I'm thinking whether I should arrange for another designer to serve her instead," Linda said.
"She won't agree to it. She wanted me because she wanted to make things difficult for me. She didn't mention any requirements, which means that she wants me to design everything. Anyway, no matter what, I will do my best," Vivianna said calmly. Her face looked youthful as if she was fresh out of school. However, her calm temperament was not in line with her current age.
"Okay, prepare the draft. I'll have a look at it. At the same time, I'll show it to Mrs. Lambert. If she has any opinions, you can change it then," Linda said.
"Alright!" Vivianna nodded and said.
"Do try your best," Linda said.
"Yes, I will do so." Vivianna pursed her lips and smiled.
After Linda had left, she still couldn't focus on her work and design jewelry for the woman whom she absolutely despised. For the first time, all her inspirations seemed to vanish, due to this resentment. All she thought of was Jessamyn's evil face.
Winslow was leading the little fellow. He didn't run around like other children. Even when they were crossing the road, he was well-behaved and he followed the rules. This surprised Winslow.
She thought of her three-year-old nephew. His whole family would need to follow him around all day. They had to help him to clean up any mess he created. When her nephew was on the road, he simply ran around.
He wasn't as obedient and sensible as this little guy. Content © NôvelDrama.Org.
Zephaniah saw the pyramid-like building again. He looked curiously at it and asked, "Miss Winslow, whose house is that?"
A reverent expression was displayed on Winslow's face. "That's the house that belongs to the richest person in our city."
"What does such a richest person look like?" The little fellow asked curiously.
