Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 241

His grip was a bit too strong, making Selena let out a few choked sounds before she fully regained her senses. She was annoyed with him and definitely wasn't in the mood for his antics. She caught her breath and pushed his hand away. "Stop," she blurted out instinctively.

Everett immediately paused, hovering above her. His dark eyes were intensely focused on her, like he could see right through her.

"What's wrong?"

Selena's eyes flickered for a moment, but she quickly found an excuse. "I have work to do. This article is due today."

With that, she pushed him off and sat up, straightening her dress that had gotten ruffled.

Everett looked thoroughly disappointed. He glanced at the laptop screen and saw the half-written article there.

Last time he had gotten in the way of her work, she had given him an icy glare and they ended up in a big fight, so he kept quiet this time. Selena sat up straight and grabbed her laptop.

But Everett didn't leave. He leaned back against the leather sofa. Resting his chin on his hand, his head tilted to the side, lazily watching her. His shirt was nearly all unbuttoned, revealing glimpses of his toned chest, exuding a masculine charm with a wild edge.

Selena's mind was already in a mess, and with his intense gaze on her like a shadow, it was hard to ignore.

After a few minutes, she still couldn't type a single word.

Unable to hold back, she turned to him. "Mr. Everett, if you've got things to do, feel free to go ahead."

Translation: Please, just leave!

Everett's lips curled into a mischievous grin. "I'm not busy. I just want to watch you."

"Why don't you go about your work and just pretend I'm not here."

Selena was rendered speechless.

Not busy, huh?

He'd been too busy to even reply to her messages because he was helping Margot through her pregnancy, and now here he was playing house! Selena didn't want to be bitter, but she felt both wronged and jealous.

She felt like a puppet on strings, dancing to his whims.

Suddenly feeling a light tug at her earlobe, Selena snapped back to reality, covering her ear. "What are you doing?" Everett seemed to casually start a conversation, "I've been away for three days. Aren't you curious where I've been?"

Selena thought to herself, 'You've

been at that vixen's place, why should ask?' She didn't want to

upset herself, but then OF!

Everett was probably banking on her not asking, so they could just skip the whole issue.

If she let it slide now, she couldn't bring it up later without causing drama.

The nerve of him!

Selena didn't want to let him off easy and casually smiled, playing along, "So, where have you been?" Everett genuinely seemed taken aback.

He hadn't expected Selena to ask; she hadn't shown interest in his whereabouts for quite some time.

A few days ago, he might have been glad and willing to share, but these past days had been rough. Margot's mental state was fragile, affecting her pregnancy, and the doctor warned that stress could riska miscarriage.

So, he had to stay in the hospital with her until she was stable enough for him to leave.

Selena had always been touchy about Margot, despite his explanations. Women can be so sensitive sometimes.

He didn't want to go into details, thinking it was unnecessary and hoping to avoid stirring things up.
