Chapter 1802
Chapter 1802
Even until the car disappeared into the traffic, the man did not show any intentions of turning away. His charming eyes teared up under the starry night.
Some time later, an exasperated sigh could be heard.
Lisa had been standing behind him for a while. She tapped on his shoulder and said, “Sherry said she will come to visit us often. Stop standing here. Go home and take a rest.”
Everything that needed to be said had been said, thus Lisa then left the office.
Carl remained standing before the window with pursed lips. After his mother left the office and shut the door, his body leaned forward against the window. He held up his hand against the window and propped his forehead against the back of his hand.Content is property of NôvelDrama.Org.
Tears fell from his tightly shut eyes. It took Sherry a full month to do a complete handover. Her last day was on a Friday. Sherry booked a table at a restaurant to treat her subordinates to a feast.
Her subordinates were reluctant to see her go, but they were quite happy when they learned that she was paying. After work, they took a ride to the restaurant ahead of her.
Other than her direct subordinates, Sherry also invited other department managers who were rather close to her. She texted them personally and told them to wait for her in the lobby so that they could go together.
After sending out the invitations, Sherry spotted Carl’s contact at the bottom of the list. His display picture had changed from a sexy selfie of himself to the company’s logo in stark black and white.
The last time they chatted was half a month ago, and it had been about work
Her fingers froze for a moment, but she ultimately decided not to invite him. She believed he was busy with work.
She put her phone away and went downstairs to the lobby.
Her subordinates made a move first to the restaurant while the other department managers waited for her in the lobby.
The elevator door opened, and she saw the others waiting for her. She strode out of the elevator, but before she could reach them, a tall figure in a handsome suit came towards her from the other direction.
Sherry wanted to turn a blind eye, but Carl hastened his steps and stood in front of her. “Sis, where are you off to in such a hurry?” he asked with a smile. Sherry choked on her words.
Before Sherry could squeeze her words out of her throat, Carl noticed the other department managers waiting for her. He smiled at her and then said, “Are you going to have a farewell dinner with them?”
Sherry nodded.
“Where to?” he asked.
“A restaurant in the Southern beach.”
“Oh, that place? It’s good, but it's hard to get a seat. | know the owner. Do you want me to help get a table for you guys?” Carl offered
Sherry rejected politely. “It's okay. | already booked a table a week ago.”
Carl pursed his lips awkwardly. He reacted like a child whose best friend was leaving him for someone
else
Sherry’s chest tightened as the guilt devoured her. She tried to stay away from him so that he could concentrate on running the company. She did not want to inject useless hope into his mind anymore
However, after knowing each other for years, she truly viewed him as a good friend or even a good little brother, and she did not want to hurt him.
A few seconds of silence later, she smiled and asked, “Are you free now?” Carl smiled. “I’m actually attending a function. | can’t join you guys.” Sherry pursed her lips awkwardly. “Okay.”
“Have fun.” He patted her head and then walked away, disappearing from her sight in the blink of an eye. Sherry sighed. She then went over to the department managers.
