Chapter 1781
Chapter 1781
Sherry felt a surge of joy gurgling within her, and she smiled.
“Sherry.” She heard Queenie’s voice calling out her name from behind.
She was slightly startled and quickly turned around. “What is it?”
Queenie seemed to be second-guessing herself. “Um... | wanted to talk to you for a second.” She looked like a child who had done something wrong and was afraid of being told off.
This caught Sherry’s attention. “Go ahead.”
“Can we step outside real quick?” Queenie tugged at Sherry’s sleeve.
Sherry made a look, then she glanced at John.
John smiled and spoke softly, “Go ahead, please ask Peter to come inside for me.”
Sherry and Queenie stepped out into the corridor.
After ensuring that there was no one in earshot, Sherry gave the go-ahead. “Go on, tell me what's on your mind.” Queenie hung her head low. “I wanted to apologize.”
Sherry was taken aback. “What are you apologizing for?”
“For slapping you back there, | was very nasty toward you.” Her voice trailed off into a mumble. Only then did Sherry understand what she was referring to.
It happened when Madam Stockton was rushed to the hospital after the accident. Back then, Queenie was incited by something Julie told her and misdirected her anger at Sherry. She had slapped Sherry right across the face the moment she got to the hospital.
Queenie hung her head lower and seemed like she wanted to bury herself into a hole. She felt incredibly remorseful.NôvelDrama.Org holds this content.
Sherry did not realize that Queenie had been troubled over this for so long.
She forgave her with a smile. “Don’t worry, | almost forgot about it until you mentioned it.”
Queenie’s slap was nothing compared to the villainous hatred Julie bore toward her. It was nothing compared to what John had done to her after having been misled by Julie. As far as Sherry was concerned, the slap was nothing but a passing thought of no importance.
“It's alright, | remember hitting you this one time as well,” she remarked.
Queenie suddenly looked up with a puzzled look on her face. “When did you ever hit me?”
Sherry pursed her lips in thought. “I think it was a few years ago.”
Queenie grinned and announced, “In that case, we're even. You're not going to hold it against me in the future, are you?” Sherry assured her. “Of course, not.”
She had never borne any resentment toward Queenie.
Queenie laughed cheerfully and hugged Sherry tightly. “Sherry, you have no idea how much this has been
weighing on me lately. When | thought that you were burned alive in that house, | couldn’t even eat anything for several days after that!”
When she spoke, her voice quivered with joy and elation. Sherry smiled and gently patted Queenie on the back. “I understand.”
“Have you been thinking of me at all lately?” Queenie let go of her and presented the question out of nowhere.
Sherry tried to sound as convincing as possible. “Yes of course | have...”
After the traumatic episode with John, the only thing on her mind was to cut off contact with him entirely and leave behind everything and every person she knew back in Glanchester. She barely contacted or even thought of Sylvia at all, much less Queenie.
Queenie embraced her tightly. “I knew you'd think of me.”
Sherry smiled stiffly..
Now that there were more people gathered, the atmosphere inside the ward had become rather lively. Madam Stockton was all over Caprice.
Queenie bombarded Sherry with questions. She was curious to know about what had been happening to her lately and wanted to know the full story behind why someone would try to hurt her.
Sherry briefly provided an overview of the politics inside Sager Corporation and brushed the matter aside. She had been at the hospital over the last two days and barely had time to attend to her work.
Now that John’s condition was stable and Caprice had someone to look after her, there was less for her to worry about. She took her laptop to a quiet corner next to the window and buried her head into her work.
She worked until evening and at one point, Lisa showed up.
She did not expect to see so many people gathered in the ward and was visibly surprised when she stepped into the ward with her assistant. They brought baskets of fruits with them.
Madam Stockton and Queenie were also surprised to see Lisa.
Caprice was the only one who was unfazed by the situation. She cried out the moment she recognized Lisa. “Aunt Lisa!”
