Chapter 1679
Chapter 1679
The girl in the man’s arms pouted as a hint of helplessness gleamed in her eyes. Her father had woken her up, and she was still sleepy.
However, since they were coming for her mother, she simply let her father off the hook this time. Sherry ignored the man and looked at Caprice with a gentle gaze.
John was aware of the gentle gaze, so he put Caprice down on her own.
Caprice waddled her way to her mother. Sherry picked the girl up and carried her into her arms. “Mommy, did you just come back?” the girl asked with pouty lips.
Sherry answered softly, “Mommy got held up by something.”
“Mm-hmm...” Caprice yawned and then leaned into Sherry’s neck.
Sherry carried the girl to the elevator. She walked past John’s side without the slightest pause.
For a moment there, John was silenced by her response. He cleared his throat subtly to signal the girl. Caprice, who was leaning against her mother’s shoulder, looked up.All rights © NôvelDrama.Org.
Sherry was not aware of the man’s grunts and the girl’s change of expression. She pressed the elevator button with her idle hand.
Before the elevator arrived, Caprice feigned grievance and started to sob, “Daddy, Daddy, don’t go...”
Sherry was slightly surprised. She looked at the girl and saw her looking at her father with a pout. She frowned and looked at John.
John curled his lips and said to Caprice, “Caprice, you miss Mommy, don’t you? You can stay with Mommy for the night, and I pick you up in the morning.”
Caprice pouted again. “No, | miss Mommy and Daddy. | want Mommy and Daddy together with me.” John wore a troubled look. “Caprice, be a good girl.”
Caprice then closed her eyes and whimpered. Although no tears were rolling down her cheeks, her grieving voice tightened Sherry’s chest.
A quick thought later, Sherry consoled her, “Caprice, Daddy is busy. He can’t be with you.” Caprice’s whimpers paused, and she took a peek at her father through her tiny hands. John’s gaze shifted. He said, “Mommy's right. Daddy has to call Uncle Peter, and it will only disturb you and Mommy.”
Sherry felt that it seemed odd, but before she could wrap her mind around the situation, Caprice pouted again. She cried, “Daddy can make the call here. Caprice will be quiet, and Mommy will be quiet too.”
John feigned another troubled look and looked at Sherry who frowned at him. She wanted the man to disappear from her sight and go as far away from her as possible.
The girl then looked at her with a runny nose and teary eyes. “Mommy, can you let Daddy be with us?”
Just as Sherry’s chest tightened again, the elevator arrived. Sherry bit the bullet and carried Caprice inside.
Caprice widened her eyes in shock. She reached out to her father and cried, “Daddy! Daddy!”
Sherry turned around when she entered the elevator. She glared at John and said, “Why are you still standing there?”
John was delighted. He quickly strode inside the elevator.
Sherry took a few steps back and kept a safe distance from him.
John was slightly disheartened. He then said to Caprice, “Daddy’s here. Don’t cry. Be a good girl.”
Caprice hummed a reply as she stopped her whimpers. She even subtly winked her teary eyes at John. He chuckled subtly.
Sherry turned her back to John, and Caprice was leaning on her shoulder, therefore she was not aware of the father and daughter collusion.
Soon, the elevator arrived. John walked out first and Sherry followed. She maintained her distance from the man as
she walked back to her unit.
