With You
For a moment, Anne might have had a sigh of relief because she was able to return to London safely without any losses. In her heart, she continued to be grateful to have met Kaivan, who seemed to be the right person to seek protection from. What would have happened if she hadn’t met that man? Her life might have been lost now, facing the mafia that had been targeting her all this time.
However, it seemed that Anne couldn’t fully breathe easy. She almost forgot that she had a promise to reveal all her secrets to the man who was now her husband. Now, she had to think hard about how to stall or divert her husband’s thoughts from asking about that promise.
“You can rest immediately. If you need anything, just call Meggy,” Kaivan instructed as he and Anne were already inside the room.
“Where are you going?” the woman asked when she saw Kaivan getting ready to leave again.
“I have to meet Hans. There are many issues I want to resolve regarding our attack in Milan,” explained the man. “I want to know the motives behind this incident. If it’s not dealt with quickly, I’m sure there will be an even bigger attack in the future.”
Anne took a deep breath. Honestly, she felt worried and curious about the motives behind the previous night’s attack. Was it purely due to long-standing grudges with her husband? Or could it possibly be connected to her somehow? With that in mind, Anne resolved to be more cautious this time.
“Alright then, I just want to rest. Honestly, my body is really tired.”
Kaivan nodded in understanding. After the events of the previous night, his wife appeared to have not slept at all up until now.
“If you want, you can ask Meggy to arrange for a Spa Therapist to massage your body. Maybe after a spa and massage, you’ll feel more relaxed.”
Anne smiled faintly, touched by Kaivan’s unusual consideration. He had never acted like this before.
“It’s not necessary. I just need some sleep right now.”
“Alright, rest well. I’ll be on my way.”
In his office, Kaivan was immediately greeted by Hans. Before heading back to London, Kaivan had contacted him to meet at the office, wanting to discuss important matters about what had happened to him in Milan.
“Was it Cammora who attacked you?”
“Luca incited them,” Kaivan replied. He took a seat facing Hans. “That old man seemed to know about my arrival in Milan. Maybe he plotted against me by sowing discord with the Camorra.”
“Have you contacted Romain about this?”
Kaivan nodded. The leader of the Camorra had reached out to him some time ago. They exchanged explanations and eventually agreed not to interfere anymore.
“I’m done dealing with Romain and the entire Camorra group. Now, what we need to do is clarify why Luca is targeting Anne. Is she meant to be bait, or does Anne hold some important secret about their organization?”
Hans brought his right hand to stroke the fine hairs around his chin and neck. He nodded and responded.
“You might have to pressure Anne to spill everything. Ask her what secrets she’s been carrying all this time. If your wife still evades, you can use threats.”
“Last night, I asked her directly. I even threatened that I wouldn’t help her anymore if she didn’t open up to me,” Kaivan began.
Hans immediately leaned forward, his face filled with enthusiasm as he intentionally displayed.
“So, what was your wife’s response? Did she admit that she’s been targeted by the Sicilian mafia?”
Kaivan shook his head, which only raised significant questions in Hans’ mind.
“She didn’t tell me anything last night. But I’ll keep pressing her as soon as possible. Honestly, I’m fed up with all the behaviors of Luca’s people who have been tailing me for a while now. Not to mention, yesterday’s incident almost cost both mine and Anne’s lives!”
“That’s why we need to act quickly. If you leave, give them a lesson.”
Kaivan agreed with a nod. He was indeed eager for revenge against Luca.
“But you should know something, Hans.”
Hans furrowed his brow in confusion.
“About what?”
“Just so you’re aware, I’m convinced that Anne is not an ordinary woman. Last night, she saved my life twice. She has self-defense skills and is even proficient with weapons. Is it normal for a model to have such abilities?”
Hans was taken aback by this revelation.
“Frankly, for now, there isn’t much information I could gather about that woman. Maybe it’s because Anne is the child of a secret intelligence agent, and all her information is tightly guarded.”
Kaivan took a deep breath, pondering what approach he should take to persuade Anne to open up to him.
“Alright, I’ll try gently asking Anne again. But if you find any other information, let me know immediately. We really need to work together to resolve all these issues quickly.”

Kaivan entered his home at exactly nine in the evening. Stepping inside, he found Anne sitting quietly at the dining table. He wondered what was occupying her thoughts. He was certain that she hadn’t noticed his arrival.
To confirm what was happening, instead of heading to their room, Kaivan decided to approach her. He pulled out a chair and sat across from Anne.
“What are you thinking about?”
Kaivan’s question immediately snapped Anne’s awareness from her subconscious. Blinking her eyes, she responded a bit startled.
“I-I was just thinking about what we both experienced recently.”
“Which aspect?” Kaivan inquired. “About me kissing you last night?”
That question caught Anne off guard. Why was this man in front of her bringing up their kiss?
“Oh my god! Of course not.”
“Oh, really?” The man narrowed his eyes, a teasing grin clearly visible. “If not that, then why is your face so flushed?”
Anne reflexively brought her hands to cover her cheeks. She felt so embarrassed being called out like this by the man who used to mock her so often.
“You’re exaggerating! My cheeks have always been like this.” Anne defended herself, a touch of pride mixed with her admission. In reality, she also occasionally thought about the moment when he kissed her for the first time. “Just drop it, don’t tease me.”
“I’m not teasing you,” Kaivan responded. “Who knows, maybe you want the two of us to repeat last night’s events. If you want, I can do it again.”
This sentence only made Anne feel more embarrassed. Why was Kaivan persistently teasing her like this? Ugh!
“Kai, I’m being serious right now. I’m still preoccupied with what happened to us last night.” Anne’s face appeared tense. “Is this going to happen again?”
Kaivan sighed, attempting to stay calm. He didn’t want to see Anne dwell on the bloody incident from the previous night.
“There’s no need to dwell on it. Besides, I’ve already asked someone to investigate this case promptly. So, from now on, never go anywhere without letting me know, even if it’s just within the hotel. Understand?”
Anne nodded. Yet, she didn’t feel completely relieved. She worried that when Kaivan investigated the case, he might discover her background or the reasons for her sudden appearance in his life.
Furthermore, Kaivan had already issued a threat. He wouldn’t assist her if he found out about the secrets she had been keeping. Naturally, the tall, athletic woman felt even more frightened. So, the next thing she did was gather her courage and make a decision to tell her husband everything.
“Well, actually…” Anne paused for a moment, taking several deep breaths before speaking again. “I —”
Anne was just about to continue her sentence when the hotel room door suddenly started to be knocked on repeatedly. Soon after, Mike and Dominique appeared, seemingly bringing important news.
“What’s going on? Why did you both come to see me all of a sudden?” Mike stepped forward, handing a piece of paper to Kaivan. All content © N/.ôvel/Dr/ama.Org.
“Somebody intentionally delivered this letter to the hotel receptionist,” Mike explained. Kaivan took the paper and began to read it attentively. Soon, his expression shifted to anger.
“That damn old man! This is a threat letter mentioning that the Sicilian group won’t hesitate to attack wherever I am.”
“So, what should we do? I’m waiting for your orders,” Dominique said.
“I want you to find all the Sicilian people around the hotel. Capture them or if necessary, teach them a lesson so that Luca knows who he’s dealing with this time.”
Dominique nodded. After receiving instructions from Kaivan, both men immediately went to carry out the task.
Anne, who had intended to speak up again, swallowed her words. Now, she felt even more hesitant to reveal all the secrets she had been holding onto.
“Kai…” Anne called out to Kaivan, who had been silent the whole time. “There’s something I need to tell you.”
Kaivan turned to her. He gazed at his wife’s face for a moment before responding.
“Yes, I also want to hear a lot from you. But it’s probably better if we discuss everything tomorrow. For now, you should rest. Besides, I have plenty of time to hear all your stories.”
Kaivan’s request for his wife to rest wasn’t without reason. Her tired and pale face indicated that Anne needed time to rest.
“Alright then. I’ll go back to our room.”
“But you have to promise to share all the information I haven’t known about you,” Kaivan reiterated before Anne could leave.
“I promise.” Anne nodded. Then, she turned and headed towards their room.
Anne had intended to rest that night. However, when she heard a sudden clap of thunder, she ran to Kaivan’s room. Without asking for permission, she entered and found her husband just finishing his shower.
“Please, let me stay here for a while until the rain stops.”
Kaivan, who had just finished dressing, approached. He guided Anne to sit at the edge of the bed. He could see how frightened she was.
“No need to be afraid. I’m here.” He tried to comfort her, assuring her that she would be okay. Kaivan noticed how much Anne was trembling, likely due to her fear.
“If it continues like this, from now on, it might be better for you to sleep in my room,” Kaivan suddenly suggested.
“Sleep with you?”
Kaivan nodded.
“Rather than you being scared every time it rains.” He thought that if there was heavy rain or thunderstorms, Anne wouldn’t need to leave her room and search for him to accompany her. “Tomorrow, I’ll ask Meggy to move all your things to my room.”
“No… no.” Still covering her ears, Anne shook her head repeatedly. “I don’t want to inconvenience you. Really, I apologize if my trauma makes you uncomfortable with my reactions. I swear, no matter what, I’m also tormented by this fear. I’ve even visited a psychiatrist multiple times for consultations. But this fear just can’t completely disappear.”
Kaivan could see Anne’s frustration and distress as she spoke this time. He understood that the woman in front of him was truly uncomfortable with the trauma she had been enduring. Honestly, Kaivan sometimes felt sorry seeing her so scared. Especially to the point of hysterical crying.
“Stay calm. You’re not bothering me. Moreover, you don’t need to worry. I won’t do anything untoward if you want to sleep here.”
After being reassured once again, Anne finally agreed. With Kaivan’s assistance, she slowly lay down. She pulled the blanket over herself and tried to sleep. Meanwhile, Kaivan didn’t move an inch from Anne’s side. He faithfully sat there, keeping her company until she fell into a deep sleep.
