Redmption 338
Redmption 338
If Melany hit Jewel's pregnant belly head-on, Jewel's baby would certainly be at risk.Content rights by NôvelDr//ama.Org.
Even though Melany refused to acknowledge the baby, Chris had claimed that the
child wasn't his but lan's posthumous child. If anything happened, it would mean the end of the Goodwin family's bloodline.
My heart raced, and I ran toward them instinctively.
Lisa, who was closest, also understood the dire consequences and immediately grabbed Melany." Madam, you can't do this."
Jewel had reached her breaking point. "Let her hit me! If she does, then the Goodwin family will be wiped out!"
"How dare you still claim that this child is ours? I'm going to make sure that it's tested right here and right now!" Melany was clearly beyond reason. Jewel was infuriated, matching Melany's anger. "Fine! Let's see right here if it's really the Goodwin family's child!"
I didn't want to get involved, but a child's life was at stake, especially one that had been left by a deceased person.
strode over and grabbed Jewel. "Are you really willing to sacrifice this baby?"
Jewel was momentarily stunned by my intervention, and her face reddened further.
"Come with me," I urged her.
"Who are you? You can't take her away! I want her to pay for my son's death today!" Melany was frenzied
I glanced at Lisa, who was holding back Melany. "Madam, if your son's death was
unjust, there are legal ways to seek justice. Your current actions won't avenge him but will only bring you harm."
Lisa's persuasive skills were impressive. Her words only fueled Melany's anger more. "My only son is gone! No one will bury me when I die. I've long s wished for death!"
It was a dangerous spiral toward mutual destruction.
"Why aren't you leaving?" I snapped at Jewel.
This time, she followed me. Seeing her leave, Melany continued to scream and curse even more viciously.
Once we turned the corner and Melany was out of sight, I finally released Jewel and stopped.
Her hair was a mess, and her face was marked with red handprints. Blood was smeared at the corner of her mouth. She looked quite pitiful. There was a saying that those who were pitiable also
had something hateful about them. Jewel deserved what had happened to her for causing lan's death.
"Do you think I deserve this?" Jewel asked me.
Ismirked. "Yes."
Her eyes flashed with anger.
smiled slightly and said, "A few slaps can't make up for lan's life."
Her eyes trembled, and she began to lose control. Her voice was sharp as she said, "He caused his own accident. Why should I be blamed?"
She actually believed she wasn't to blame and showed no remorse for lan's death. It was a life lost because of her betrayal.
Although I didn't know the details of
lan's feelings for her, the fact that his life was so profoundly affected by her betrayal, to the point of costing him his life, was enough to show how deeply he loved her.
But what did his love bring him?
It brought betrayal, a lack of remorse, and a repeated desire to erase his only surviving legacy from this world.
At that moment, I felt an unexpected
surge of anger on his behalf. He shouldn't have loved someonedike her, and he certainly shouldn't have sacrificed his life for her.
My anger boiled over. "If you hadn't been involved with Chris, would lan have had the accident?"

She seemed humiliated by my words, and her facial expression turned bad. "How dare you say that? What do you know about Chris' feelings for me?"
