Redmption 304
I asked, "Why didn't you pick up?"
"I will," Brandon answered nonchalantly. "I'll go out and take the call. As for you, it's about time you get out of bed and wash up for breakfast."
I blinked in surprise. "You made breakfast?"
I thought he had been sleeping next to me the entire time, but he actually got up and made breakfast at one point. He probably came back to bed when he saw that I was still sleeping and decided to do some bedside reading.
I should have expected such disciplined behavior from someone who demanded excellence of himself.
"I made you banana pancakes and yogurt to make up for the electrolytes you lost," Brandon elaborated, stroking my hair. It felt
nice to be pampered like I was the most important person in the world to him.
Brandon left the room to take the call. I pulled my hand out from under the covers and stared at the ring that now adorned my finger. I snapped a pictu
I stayed under the covers and scrolled through my social media for a while before deciding to get up. When I noticed Brandon still speaking on the phone, I padded into the bathroom to wash up.
Only upon entering the bathroom did I realize that the ointment Lisa had prescribed me was down to half a
tube. I frowned. Last I checked, I barely used a quarter of it.
Had Brandon used it on me instead? But when? While I was asleep?
At once, blood rushed to my face, and my body went taut.
"I don't hear the water running," Brandon suddenly said from the door.
The only way I could hide my embarrassment was to pretend I hadn't noticed anything amiss, so I sang teasingly, "That's because I'm waiting for you
Brandon froze, and I saw his throat bob. I could tell I had stirred something within him. By "something“, I meant his most primal urges.
I didn't want to over-exert myself so early
in the day, so I pretended that I hadn't sensed the shift in his behavior and looked away from him. As I hurried to wash up, I said, "Better get my pancakes ready, or I'll be late."
"You won't," Brandon replied.
"Do you see the time, my dear? It's late," I pointed out sardonically.
"Our flight's at 10:00 am. We can still make it," Brandon said breezily.
I froze at his words. I had been looking at him through the mirror, but I was so shocked at that moment that I whirled to pin him with an incredulous look. "Sorry, what did you-did you just say 'our flight'? Flight to where? Are we going on a business trip?"
"Sure," Brando
replied as he turned on his heels and left to plate my breakfast.
Baffled, I went after him and demanded, "Now, hold on just a second! I need a little more detail here. Where are we going? Why wasn't I informed of th "Didn't Mr. Roulder tell you about this?" Brandon asked.
I blinked. I vaguely remembered Xander telling me to clear the work I had on hand. Nodding slowly, I said, "He did.”
"Well, this is it," Brandon said.
I couldn't understand what was happening. What was it?
I clarified, “But he never mentioned where I would be going or that I would be traveling with you!"
A faint smile curved Brandon's lips.

"Since you're traveling with me, I believe I get to decide where we go." What he said would have been sweet if it weren't so out of the blue. I was about to argue when he raised a hand and brushed the damp hair curling at my temples. "D your face and have your breakfast."

He entered the kitchen after that, leaving me gaping after him like an idiot.
However, I dropped the matter and continued washing up. I even dabbed on some makeup before leaving the bathroom.
While I was getting ready, Brandon
had plated my breakfast and was waiting for me while reading the news on his tablet. He was impossibly patient, and he did not once rush me even though I tended to take my time in the bathroom. He didn't snap at me, either
I glanced at the time and noted it was 8:00 am, Brandon told me the flight was at 10:00 am, and it was a half-hour car ride to the airport from here. We had to arrive at the airport at least 40 minutes in advance, and we hadn't even eaten breakfast yet.
We were cutting it pretty close at this point.
Suspecting this might be a prank, I asked tentatively, "Brandon, are we
really going on a business trip?" "It's not really a business trip. I just needed you to come with me," Brandon said. He
was deliberately keeping me guessing.
I sat across him and eyed the mouth-watering fruit platter before me. I speared a fruit cube and popped it
into my mouth, pressing, “Will you please tell me where we're going?"
Brandon locked his tablet and picked up his utensils. “We're going to pick up Ellie.”
My eyes nearly bugged out of my head. He noted my surprise and chuckled. "You were the one who told me to have her fly in sooner."
