Redmption 186
Redmption 186
I no longer eavesdropped after that. This new revelation was enough to leave me stunned for days. At last, all my suspicions had been answered. But I didn’t anticipate this.
I knew lan; he was a slender and cheerful man. He gave off a boy–next–door vibe. It was unfortunate that he died knowing his wife was having an affair with his best friend.
I understood then why Chris was so devastated and in pain when lan died… He was the reason for his passing.
It also explained why after lan’s death, his parents treated Jewel badly and even refused to accept her baby. They were probably convinced the baby wasn’t lan’s.
There wasn’t much hatred within me when I found out Chris cheated on me, but that had now changed. He was a pathetic jerk who had ended a life–his best friend’s.
Sensing my inner turmoil, Lisa led me to her office to rest. I sat on the chair and said nothing for a long
time.
Although lan and I were not the closest, I could empathize and feel the suffocation he experienced as he took his last breath of despair.
“Chris is unforgivable.” Lisa, too, was overwhelmed and angry.
“Now that Jewel has blamed everything on him, he has no choice but to make things up to her. He owes that to her, and he deserves the consequences. As for Jewel, she’s not entirely innocent. I don’t believe that Chris would make a move if she hadn’t given him the green light. Content is © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
“It takes two to tango, but she acts like it’s all Chris‘ fault. Not to mention, she has no problem ending lan’s bloodline just to marry into the Gildon family! She’s evil to the core!” Lisa ranted at once.
I absentmindedly picked at my nails while murmuring. “Liz, whatever you do, make her keep the baby.”
“Maddie, I understand your feelings. Even if I resort to tricks and make her keep the baby, she’ll just go to another clinic if she doesn’t change her mind. On top of that…” Lisa paused and continued, “Jewel has set her heart on marrying Chris. She won’t keep the baby. Even if she does, the child will not live a happy life.
Suddenly, I recalled a quote, “Nobody has the right to dictate someone else’s life.” Indeed, I had no right to do that.
It still didn’t erase the fact that Jewel’s baby was lans last bit of legacy. If the baby ceased to exist, so would lan.
At that moment, I felt helpless and horrible–something I’d never experienced when I found out about Chris and Jewel’s affair.
“If Chris is conscientious, he won’t let Jewel abort the baby.” Lisa similarly understood the significance of
this child.
I closed my eyes. “Let’s hope he is.”
While I was calming myself in Lisa’s room, Chris called me. “Can you ask Lisa for a favor and tell her not to go through with Jewel’s abortion?”
At least he was still humane.
I repeated what Lisa told me earlier. Following that, I added, “Chris, she’s previously used her baby as emotional blackmail against you. Now, she’s aborting it to marry you. Whether the baby gets to live isn’t up to Lisa but you.”

A startled Chris asked with a hint of shock, “You found but?”
“Jewel came to me and asked if Zack and Bree would accept her baby.” I came clean.
The other side of the call went quiet. Chris seemingly knew my answer to that question. Moments later, he ended the call, and I left the hospital.
When Derick saw me, he wasn’t surprised and approached me with a smile instead. “Care for a game?” “Do you know where lan’s grave is?” I asked.
