Redmption 169
Redmption 169
From Jewel’s conversation with the nurse, I found out that Jewel fell down at the amusement park, which triggered complications with her pregnancy.
So, something did happen in the end, but who could she blame? She had brought it on herself.
After the needle was inserted into Jewel’s hand, she shuffled over for her IV drip with Chris supporting her. They sat down directly across from Brandon and me.
It felt like Chris wouldn’t be satisfied until he had caused a scene. But for now, he just sat there and remained silent. Brandon and I treated him like he was invisible.
But Chris was here to cause trouble, so how was it possible that he would keep quiet the entire time?
Barely two minutes into the silence, he questioned, “Madeline, why did you bring him home tonight?”
In fact, before he spoke, I had already known that he would lash out because of what happened tonight. As expected, I was right.
“It means I’m starting a new chapter,” I replied calmly.
Chris scoffed and looked at Brandon disdainfully. “With him?”
“Yes, with him,” I emphasized while placing my hand over Brandon’s.
Chris laughed dryly. “Madeline, come on. Your ear always turns red when you lie. Try again when you’ve grown out of that habit.”
I had forgotten about it until he mentioned it, My hand instinctively reached for my ears, but I stopped myself just in time. If I showed any signs of guilt, Brandon and my efforts in putting on a show would have, been in vain.
I stared at Chris, who stared back. The anger subsided on his face, and he smiled slyly instead. It was clear he didn’t believe a word I said.
“Her ears also become red when she’s angry,” Brandon said.
Chris shot him a cold glare as if to say it wasn’t his place to intervene. But Brandon’s words reminded me that my ears indeed turned red when I was angry. So, I didn’t need to feel guilty now.
However, how did Brandon know this? Had he picked up on this subtle detail in the few days we had known each other? If that was the case, then he was a keen observer indeed.
“Every time I see you, my ears turn red, Chris,” I said calmly and slowly.
Chris‘ fury flared momentarily, but he managed to contain it. Instead, he sneered, “You’re my woman, and you’re just taking advantage of that to make me angry.”
How shameless! And he even called me “his woman, which was so blatant and easily misunderstood
My point was proven when I saw how dark Jewel’s face was.
Just then, Brandon reached for rgy hand. Before I could react, I felt a warm touch on the back of it. He had kissed my hand. Content provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
Brandon had shut Chris up with actions. Although I knew Brandon was putting on a show with me, I blushed when I sensed the warmth of his kiss lingering on my skin.
Brandon kissing me in public made Chris fly into a rage. He shot up from his seat, but just as he did,
Jewel grabbed him. With tears in her eyes, she said, “just want to get an IV drip peacefully. If you don’t
want to stay with me, I won’t get one anymore.”
With trembling hands, Jewel reached for the IV, but Chris stopped her. Tears streamed down her face as if each drop that hit the floor was the sound of her heart breaking.
Her tears worked. Chris calmed down and sat back down.
Meanwhile, Brandon’s IV drip was done. I called the nurse to remove the needle.
Brandon’s clothes were a little messy after getting the IV drip. I reached out and straightened it out for him. I could feel Chris‘ burning gaze on us.
Determined to make him back down,, I made a bold decision. I grabbed Brandon’s collar, pulled him down, and kissed his lips with my head tilted up.
