Redmption 102
Redmption 102
When Derick arrived at the billiard hall, he saw Chris striking cue balls. furiously. It was obvious he was there to blow off steam.
Instead of stopping him, Derick picked up a cue stick and walked over. “Same old rules. You up for a game?”
Chris ignored him and continued striking cue balls. When he failed to pocket a ball even after multiple tries, he threw the cue stick onto the table and stormed
out.
Derick put down his cue stick and walked over to him. “What did Madeline do to upset you this time?”
“Who said this was because of her? Don’t bring her up in front of me,” Chris snapped.
Derick chuckled. “Only she can make you lose control like that. Are you having a hard time because she left you?”
He was always direct with his words.
Chris suddenly turned around and grabbed Derick’s collar. “Cut it out.”
“What?” Derick looked at him calmly.
Chris‘ mouth moved, but he let go in the end. He wanted to tell Derick to stay away from Madeline, but that would mean admitting he cared about her.
How could he not care?
He already knew she would be his wife the moment she stepped foot in their house at the age of ten.
But for some reason, he didn’t reject the idea. On the contrary, he started protecting her as if she were already his little wife.
He protected her for ten years, and she rightfully became his girlfriend. She stood by his side, obedient and always within his reach.
Now that she left him for another man, it felt like someone had taken his toy.
“You know what I’m talking about.” Chris glared at Derick.
As the clear–headed bystander of their relationship, Derick reminded him,” Chris, you actually love Madeline.”
Chris was momentarily stunned before scoffing. “Love her? I don’t love her. I just got used to her. Do you get it? Just like you’re used to playing billiards with your left hand.”
Seeing that Chris was still being stubborn, Derick nodded helplessly and asked, “So, why are you mad?”
“I’m mad that she doesn’t know any better. Forget It! She can do whatever she wants from now on. I can’t be bothered anymore.”
Chris waved his hand dismissively, as if he didn’t want to discuss the matter
further.
Derick didn’t press him and sat down to make some coffee instead.
Chris just sat there, lost in thought. After a while, he said, “She loves me. She wouldn’t have said those things otherwise. She’s just jealous and waiting for me to persuade her.”
“Then, persuade her,” Derick said as he poured Chris a cup.
“Persuade her?” Chris scoffed. “You can’t spoil women like that. You coax them once, and they’ll make bigger fuss the next time. Then, you’ll be buttering them up for the rest of your life.
Derick took a sip of his coffee. “Aren’t women meant to be pampered? Do you think they’re just there for your pleasure and to bear children?”
“That’s not what I meant,” Chris denied.
“Then, what do you mean?” Derick looked at him.
Chris met his gaze, seemingly unsure of how to respond. In the end, he said, Look. Madeline might be throwing a fit now, but once she’s cooled down, she’ll come back to me.” This is from NôvelDrama.Org.
Derick put down his cup. “Maybe.”
Chris shot him a look. “She definitely will.
I received a message from Derick.
“You’re getting bolder. You pissed off the president so much that he’s taking it out on me.”
I didn’t reply. No matter what he meant by that or what his aim was, I had no intention of responding. Chris was already out of my life, and he wasn’t worth my time or energy anymore.
The incident earlier didn’t affect my work with Brandon. It was already midnight by the time we wrapped things up.
Kara was so sleepy she could barely keep her eyes open and kept yawning.
For some reason, I didn’t feel tired at all.
As for Brandon, he was as energetic as ever. It was as if he were a robot that would never get tired.
“Maddie, you and Brandon make a great match,” Kara suddenly commented on our way back.
