Love's Redemption

Redmption 100

Redmption 100

Chris spoke in a domineering tone, as if he were ready to tear into me, but I wasn’t afraid. I had something to say to him too. I let go of Brandon, but he immediately took hold of my hand.

Our eyes met, and I recognized the look in his eyes. It was the same protective look he had when Hammy schemed against me back in Amaty, causing me to

fall.

But I didn’t need it now. I withdrew my hand and told him, “Mr. Gildon can’t hurt

me.”

Brandon finally let me go, and I followed Chris, who was visibly agitated.

Gordon hurried to keep up, but Chris snapped at him after a few steps, “This doesn’t concern you.”

Gordon froze in fear, casting me a cautious glance.

Chris kept walking. I didn’t know where he was headed, so I called out,” Mr. Gildon, if you have something to say, you can tell me now.”

He didn’t stop, but I did. I said to his back, “Mr. Gildon, say whatever you need to say here. I have work to do, and you’re already wasting my time.”

Chris stopped and turned to glare at me coldly. As I approached him, he grabbed my arm, spun me around, and pinned me against the wall.

His icy breath and the face I had admired for ten years loomed over me. His nose was almost touching mine.

“Madeline, you’ve got some nerve trying to threaten me.”

My back throbbed from being pinned. This man was impulsive and got angry. easily. That was why, for the past decade, I had always treaded carefully

around him, fearing his explosive temper

For some reason, seeing him like this now left a bad taste in my mouth. I looked at him fearlessly. “I simply don’t want your impulsiveness to jeopardize the project timeline.”

Chris didn’t say anything this time. He just stared at me intently. “Are you

dating that Howell guy for real?”

“No,” I replied truthfully.

He sneered. “Hah! You’re so protective of him and even held his hand. What do you mean no? Do you think I’m blind?”

I wanted to laugh. “If holding hands meant we’re dating, what about kissing?”

Chris’ eyes nearly bulged out of their sockets. “You kissed him? Have you also -“He didn’t finish his sentence, but I knew he wanted to ask if I had slept with

him.

“I’m referring to you and Jewel, Chris.” I revealed what I had overheard.

I could feel his hand go stiff. “W-What are you talking about?”

“I heard it myself yesterday at the restaurant. Is it not true?” I continued calmly,” I didn’t expect you to have no shame, Chris. While your good friend was still alive, you were already romantically involved with his wife.”

Derick once said never to covet a brother’s wife. I thought he was just

following along with what Chris was saying then, but now that I think about it, it appeared like Derick had been hinting at something.

It’s not what you think.” Chris shook his head. His expression shifted from anger to distress.

I stayed silent. It was a fact that they kissed. Did it matter how they ended up kissing?

“I was drunk then. I-I…” He stammered, seemingly at a loss for words.
