Love In Twilight By Tiny Mountains Chapter 61

Chapter 61

Chapter 61 Blinded Everyone with Their Love Originally, Grandpa Lawrence’s birthday was intended to

be celebrated by three people only. Now, an extra member had joined their ranks.

Madelynn even ordered a huge cake for Grandpa Lawrence. She was also the one who put on the

birthday hat for him.

Suddenly, the doorbell rang. The caretaker went to open the door, only to discover an unwanted guest

standing at the doorway. It was none ollier than Luke, Clarissa’s brother.

When Clarissa noticed her brother, she was so surprised that her face went white. She knew he was

unable to extort Damien previously, so he came all the way here on purpose.

“What are you doing here?” she demanded harshly. “Why would you ask me that question, dear sister?

It’s my grandfather-in-law’s birthday today! Why can’t I pop over to celebrate as well? We’re all family

here, aren’t we? Happy birthday, Grandpa Lawrence!” Luke gifted Grandpa Lawrence a bouquet of

flowers.

Clarissa knew Luke would never do this out of the kindness of his own heart. Thus, she remained

vigilant around him.

Damien knew about Luke’s purpose of coming here as well. But since Grandpa Lawrence was there,

Damien chose to spectate coldly and see what Luke would do.

“Clary, who’s this…?” Grandpa Lawrence asked.

“oh! I’m Luke Johnson, Clarissa’s older brother. When ! dropped by last time, you happened to be

sleeping.” Luke shimmicd over to the dining table and quickly took a seat there. His actions were so

natural, one would have thought he owned the place.

“Oh? Is that so? Damien, wly didn’t you invite our close relatives here in the first place?” Grandpa

Lawrence turned to look inquiringly at Damien.

Madelynn simply sat there and watched the drama happily. She intended to drive a wedge between Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.

Clarissa and Damien today, but her gut told her that Luke was up to no good as well.

“Don’t blame him, Grandpa. Typically speaking, I shouldn’t be here,” Luke reasoned. “My sister was the

one who told me about the marriage contract. Isn’t that right, Clarissa?”

The atmosphere at the table became awfully silent as soon as Luke said that.

Clarissa kept shoveling food into her mouth with her head bowed, lier complexion stark white. She had

never told Luke about the marriage contract before. How on earth did he know?! “Huh? Marriage

contract? What’s the deal with that?” Madelynn asked, fanning the flames. She started orchestrating

the scene with Luke.

Madelynn could already spot Clarissa’s pale face, and was quick to take advantage of this fact “Why

don’t you tell us the full story, Clarissa?” Luke turned his gaze to Clarissa.

It was painfully obvious what Luke wanted to do. If Clarissa decided to yield and give him money, he

wouldn’t say a word about the contract. On the other hand, if Clarissa decided t resist stubbornly, then

Luke couldn’t care less about the consequences. He felt that his siste

old man’s well being Luke was a brutal character who chose the perfect timing. The second Clarissa

looked lesllant, Grandpa Lawrence would surely notice that something was wrong.

“Marriage contract? This is my first time hearing of It,” Damien shot Luke a terrifyingly cold glance,

causing the latter to shudder Instinctively.

Luke quickly averted his gaze and looked at Clarissa.

When he noticed how silent and pale she looked, he knew that the marriage contract was the real deal.

The revelation made Luke even more determined and confident. If Clarissa wished to keep it a secret,

she would have to cough up.

“Marriage contract? Is my pregnancy considered a contract?” Clarissa listed her head, a smile curled

on her lips.

Without waiting for him to respond, she continued swisty, “Luke, do you really think my husband and I

would devise a contract to get married or divorced just so we can put on a show for Grandpa? We

already have a baby together, you know? Il we got divorced, who would the baby belong to? Judging

from my husband’s personality, the last time you were here, you failed to extort him for money. You

should know what he’s like when you come liere today. If this is an arranged marriage as you’ve

claimed, do you really think he’ll let me keep the baby? Do you think I’m that stupid, dear brother? Why

would I raise a kid on my own after getting divorced? Also, I’ll be an accountant in the future. There’s

no way I’ll let such petty things blindside me! My reputation will be ruined after my divorce! Not to

mention, I’ll be stuck with a kid. Do you think I’m that eager to dig my grave and jump into it?”

Her words were like a pebble being tossed into a pond, causing thousands of ripples to appear. She

even brought up the time Luke tried to extort money from Damien.

Clarissa was implying that Luke planned to do the same thing this time, which automatically reduced

Luke’s previous statement into nothing but lies.

The reason Clarissa chose to deal with Luke this way was because he planned to ruin her marriage

contract despite being her older brother, something that she would never allow to happen under her

nose. The other reason was because Clarissa wanted Grandpa Lawrence to live for a very long time. If

he discovered that the Clary that be liked wasn’t the granddaughter -in-law he expected, he would

definitely be miserable for the rest of his life. Meanwhile, Madelynn’s expression had already darkened.

Was Clarissa really pregnant?

Initially, Damien intended to ask Luke just how much money was needed to shut his trap. Seeing how

Clarissa refuted Luke by stabbing Luke in the weak points, Damien decided to sit back, relax, and

watch the show, just like what Madelynn had done,

“You’re pregnant? Why didn’t you tell me about it?” Damien cast Clarissa a gentle look.

Clarissa, for her part, had no idea whether the gentleness in his eyes was real or otherwise.

Then again, he had proven himself to be a great partner to act out a scenario with.

“Hmph! It’s all your fault!” Clarissa pretended to be blaming Damien out of embarrassment as she

turned her head away from him.

Damien thought, ‘She’s a better actress than Madelynn, nun?’ “How is it my fault?” He was curious as

to what Clarissa was planning.

“Anyone can run their mouths and lie about being pregnant.” Luke stared at Clarissa suspiciously. He

knew that this little sister of his was chock full of imaginative ideas since childhood, so he was unsure

as to what exactly she was up to this time.

Clarissa pouted before she started scolding Damien. “A few days ago, we had a fight. I wanted to

return to my dorm room to cool my head, but once you found out, you forced me to move out of my

dorm room because you were adamant that I have to stay at home! I left my pregnancy report back

there, you know? If you don’t return my dorm room to me, I won’t let you look at the report!”

Damien finally realized that Clarissa was using this opportunity to request her dorm room.

All of her things had already been packed up and sent back to the mansion, so there was nothing left in

that room.

However, it was clear that Damien couldn’t tell the truth.

Clarissa was an expert at getting what she wanted.

The fact that she didn’t forget about her dorm room at a crucial time like this spoke lengths about her

determination.

“Must you insist on sleeping in separate rooms?” Damien frowned immediately.

“If you upset me in the future, I’ll move to my dorm room instead of sleeping on the same bed as you!”

Clarissa sounded like a spoiled brat. “Hurry and call the HR department before they assign that room to

someone else!”

Left without a choice, Damien could only comply. In the eyes of Luke and Madelynn, Clarissa and

Damien seemed to be using the opportunity to show off their love in front of everyone present.
