Chapter 593 Qualms
Chapter 593 Qualms
Clarissa didn’t miss Damien at all. Damien had an inkling that this happened because of the grave error
he had committed. It led to unfortunately irreversible consequences, causing Clarissa’s love for him to
diminish greatly. Clarissa was disappointed in him, and she would never change her mind about him.
People often said not to offend women, as no man could handle a heartless woman. Unfortunately, he
had crossed the line and hurt her deeply.
Damien didn’t bother wasting more time on this and left. He would need to think of a plan for this
problem and find a long-term solution for it.
Clarissa watched as Damien walked away with one hand in his pocket. His shadow moved away at a
rapid pace as he got in the car and left.
For some reason, Clarissa suddenly felt she would be stuck with this man for more than half her life.
After that, Clarissa took a cab and went to Zach’s house with Mildred. She hadn’t been in contact with
Zach’s family in years, and wondered if they had moved.
Soon, Kylie’s face appeared behind the security gate. She stared at Clarissa for a long time before
gasping in surprise, “Clarissa…?”
After that, Kylie opened the door quickly. She thought she had mistaken Clarissa for someone else at
first, and scrutinized Clarissa carefully.
“Is it really you, Clarissa?” Kylie asked, about to burst into tears.
Clarissa had been his son’s girlfriend in the past. Seeing Clarissa made Kylie think of Zach. With
Clarissa’s arrival, both her happiness and sadness about Zach surfaced in her mind.
“Yes, it’s me,” Clarissa said.
After going in, Clarissa helped Mildred to sit down. Meanwhile, Kylie rushed to pour them some water.
“Who’s this?”
“She’s my mom.”
“She woke up from her coma?” Kylie asked in surprise. She was unaware of the changes that had
happened to Clarissa over the years. This is from NôvelDrama.Org.
Damien’s family was part of the upper class. A commoner like Kylie wouldn’t be privy to the news
regarding the ongoings of the elites.
Kylie had seen Theresa in the hospital once, but at that time, Theresa was wearing a mask and she
couldn’t see the latter’s face clearly. Besides, it had been so many years.
“Well… It’s a complicated story,” Clarissa said.
When Kylie came back with the water, Clarissa stated her purpose for the visit.
“Aunt Kylie, my mom isn’t well. I’m teaching at the University of Genovia right now, and I can’t take care
of her alone. If it’s alright, can you take care of my mom whenever you’re free? I’m not treating you like
a helper, but I just don’t trust anyone else.”
Clarissa didn’t expect Kylie to agree to her request without any hesitation. “Sure. I’m retired now, and I
stay all day at home doing nothing. When I’m home alone, I always worry about things I don’t need to.
It’s annoying.”
“In that case, can you… Can you come tomorrow?” Clarissa asked politely. “Be there at nine o’clock
every morning, and leave at five o’clock in the afternoon. It’s a nine-to-five job. Is that okay?”
“Hmm...” Kylie gave it a thought before adding, “Can I come over at two or three in the afternoon?
Zach’s father is still at work. He won’t be back until tomorrow. I have to talk to him about this when he
comes back.”
Clarissa thought about her work tomorrow. She had a day of classes tomorrow, but she could find
someone to cover for her temporarily. “Okay,” she agreed.
After that, Clarissa took her mother back to her home near the University of Genovia. On the way back,
she ruffled Mildred’s hair and said, “Mom, I have to go to work tomorrow. You have to listen to Aunt
Kylie, alright?”
Mildred nodded obediently.
“You’re great, Mom,” Clarissa happily complimented her.
Clarissa woke up early the next day, while Mildred was still sleeping. As Clarissa had to go to work, she
wanted someone to watch over Mildred for a while. She thought about it, and much to her chagrin,
realized that Damien was the only one suitable.
She could not entrust her mother to anyone else.
It was ten minutes to ten at the moment. Her class would start at half past ten, so she called Damien.
When Clarissa called, Damien was still in a meeting.
