Chapter 304 So, What’s the Reason?
After she hung up. Maggie couldn’t shake off Ronald’s last questions.
It was clear he suspected her, but even if he did, what could he really do? As long as they avoided a direct confrontation, the battle would continue.
She had already lost her life once. She was determined to make the Camerons suffer so that they’d understand the pain of losing everything.
Maggie drove onto the expressway, heading home. Her time with Nathael lately had sparked an idea.
She wanted to create a brooch inspired by his profile, not for selling but just for herself.
She worried she might forget his gentle face in the future and that one day they might become strangers,
She wanted to record the good moments so that she could always remember how affectionately he looked at her.
As she parked her car downstairs, her phone rang, showing a name she dreaded–Timmothy.
Maggie stayed in her seat, staring at the flashing name on the screen for a while, her expression darkening.
He just won’t leave me alone.
After a moment, just before the call ended, she finally answered. “Hey.”
“11:00 PM, Willow Hotel.” Timmothy’s voice came through the phone.
It was as if the person who had threatened her and Nathael wasn’t him. The chaos and injuries felt like a distant dream.
Maggie didn’t say anything, and Timmothy didn’t mind. He simply said, “I’ll be waiting for you, Maggie.”
With that, the call ended, showing no concern, as if he was certain she would show up.
Maggie sat in the car. Timmothy’s name irritated her. She felt powerless, like she had no control over anything.
Timmothy wasn’t just crazy; he was reborn like her.
She sat in the car for a while, then restarted it and headed to the location Timmothy mentioned.
At exactly 11:00 PM, Maggie arrived at the hotel restaurant.
Timmothy sat in the same spot by the window. The midday sunlight cast a warm glow on him, wiping away the darkness and making his pale face look fresh and innocent.
Maggie couldn’t help but lament how young he looked. Còntens bel0ngs to Nô(v)elDr/a/ma.Org
However, his soul was actually that of a lunatic!
As she sat across from him, Maggie couldn’t help but frown as she looked at him.

but now, sitting across from him, it was clear.
He’s been beaten up.
Seeing her gaze. Timmothy chuckled. “Looks pretty bad, huh?”
“It’s fine. You weren’t exactly handsome to begin with,” Maggie replied bluntly.
Timmothy was stunned for a moment, then he called a waiter and asked for a mirror, examining his face. “Am I not… handsome?”
Confusion flashed in his eyes, as if Maggie’s words had made him doubt himself,
Maggie couldn’t help but find Timmothy cute in that moment. His youthful and naive demeanour seemed genuine and was not just a facade.
Or perhaps this was genuinely who he was all this time.
It was because of this sense of genuineness that she wasn’t suspicious of him from their first encounter.
However, she couldn’t help but recall the man who had threatened her with a dagger that day. His craziness and darkness were equally real, brutal, and heartless.
That sensation made Maggie feel like there were two personas residing within him, tearing him apart and then putting him back together.
Timmothy set the mirror down and glanced at Maggie. “Maggie, you don’t seem too well either.”
Timmothy silently watched her. She was dressed in a dusty pink knitted sweater adorned with a vintage rose on the chest, paired with a skirt, giving her a gentle and cosy appearance.
The sunlight bathed her, accentuating her delicate and exquisite features. Her already radiant face appeared to be illuminated by a divine light, her eyes clear and chilly. She had a hint of detachment in her eyes, but without the guardedness she had before; she was somehow inexplicably relaxed.
“Nathael lost a finger, so naturally, I’m not in a good mood. And you abducted me. Do you expect me to be cheerful?” Maggie remarked, sounding upset.
It wasn’t that she had decided to go along with Timmothy; she suddenly realised that the more she resisted. him, the more dangerous he would be. If she maintained her distance and bored him, he would inevitably resort to violence.
Moreover, she had already suffered the consequences of her previous refusal. This time, she had made a decision and didn’t feel as enraged.
Timmothy chuckled derisively, reclining in his chair and exposing his leg. “What do you think Nathael is, a soft–hearted person?”
Maggie’s gaze lingered on his leg, and she couldn’t help but pause for a moment.
It was evident that Timmothy’s leg was encased in thick plaster. Coupled with the injury on his face and his recent words, it was clear what he meant.
Timmothy’s pupils were pitch–black, reminiscent of a dark and eerie night. He murmured softly, “He had someone break my leg and lock Toby in the old hou. Jeff ended up hospitalised with twelve broken

bones, and Mr. Hudson’s also barred from walking for six months.”
It was apparent that Toby and Jeff were Timmothy’s close associates, and Maggie had met Samuel.
However, she still didn’t believe Nathael had acted improperly.
He remembered the kindness Charlie had shown him back then, so he had never been harsh on Timmothy. But that didn’t mean he would tolerate anything.
Otherwise, he wouldn’t have achieved his current position.
Maggie regarded him impassively. “But you provoked him first. Maybe, if you hadn’t, he wouldn’t have
been so furious.”
Timmothy chuckled, and the sunlight seemed to dim around him. At that moment, only darkness enveloped him, his breath icy and oppressive.
“So, that’s the consequence of me showing mercy to him,” Timmothy said softly.
Maggie paused for a moment, feeling incredulous. “You’re showing mercy?”
A hint of mockery flashed in Timmothy’s eyes as he laughed. “Do you think if I hadn’t shown mercy, he would have left that temple alive?”
Maggie paused, suddenly recalling that in her previous life, Joseph had also rigged explosives on her.
She exploded and turned into a gruesome mess, and Nathael even lost an arm.
Yes, that was the actual outcome.
It was not the one they had experienced, where they were fortunate enough to escape in time, with the explosives being hidden behind the statue.
After all, though the statue’s collapse caused a significant shock, it also mitigated some of the explosion’s heat and force.
Even if she hadn’t gone back for the severed finger, they all would have had an opportunity to flee.
Maggie’s eyes were clear as she gazed directly at the man in front of her and softly asked, “So, what’s the reason?”
What’s the reason he let us go!
