Chapter 283 The Search

Maggie had lost consciousness. The man swiftly hoisted her over his shoulder and made his way toward a secluded restroom in the corner.

With a ceiling panel already removed, the man stepped onto the toilet seat and passed Maggie up into waiting hands–every move was swift and practiced, as if rehearsed a hundred times over.

Meanwhile, Nathael stool in the dimly lit corridor, awaiting her return. Time seemed to drag on, and after checking his watch, he noted it had been ten minutes.

Lighting a cigarette, Nathael continued to wait, growing increasingly restless.

As five more minutes passed without any sign of Maggie, a crease formed between Nathael’s brows. He tried calling her.

The phone rang for a moment with no answer.

A sense of unease gnawed at him, growing stronger with each passing moment.

Realizing that Maggie had been gone for too long and that the restroom showed no signs of activity, Nathael’s demeanor shifted.

He extinguished his cigarette and stormed into the restroom, calling out for Maggie.

“Maggie?”

To his dismay, the restroom was empty. Nathael’s expression turned grim as he forcefully pushed open several partially closed doors, finding no trace of her.

His eyes instructed, “Lock down the entire venue! Scrutinize everyone coming in and out!”

Recognizing the gravity of the situation, Nolan swiftly mobilized their team.

“Bring the military in and frame it as a routine security check.”

While still on the call, he directed Nolan to conduct a thorough search of the restroom.

People don’t just vanish into thin air after ten minutes in a restroom!

“Have Henry watch all the exits of the conference hall; extend the search area from the venue, with a particular focus on the vehicles and suspicious individuals passing by from three to twelve minutes ago.”

“Understood, Mr. Harris.”

As Nathael’s gaze fell to the vanity below, a conch pearl earring lay there in silent testament.

His lips tightened as he picked up the earring. His index finger gently traced the pearl’s surface. His expression turned even more grim, and a storm of fury threatened to erupt.

had specially brought for her today.

Nathael forced himself to remain calm. He clenched the earring so tightly in his palm that the sharp post pierced his skin, drawing blood. He seemed impervious to the pain.

Nolan spoke up. “Mr. Harris.” He stepped aside as Nathael’s piercing gaze fell on him.

Someone had tampered with the ceiling of the furthest cubicle. Nolan had already sent someone to climb up the ceilling to check where it led. Undoubtedly, someone had taken Maggie from here.

Minutes later, Nolan’s phone rang. After he took the call, he relayed to Nathael, “This passage leads directly to a restroom in a conference room upstairs. There are traces of someone tampering with a window, and there are marks on the ground outside; no fingerprints left behind.”

Nathael’s eyes were as dark as night. His face was covered with a layer of frost, a hidden bloodlust flickering dark and deep within his eyes. His icy and suppressed aura was so intense that it felt like a storm was imminent. No one dares to make any noise.

“Find her, even if you have to turn this place upside down!”

“Yes, Mr. Harris.”

Maggie had no idea she had been unconscious, but when she awoke, she found herself lying on a soft, expansive bed, unbound and free to move.

The unsettling reflection of the stranger’s face–a mixed–race man–was someone she’d never seen in her past life.

Who could’ve abducted me this time?

As she scanned the room for clues, a number of potential suspects flitted through her mind.

It couldn’t be Vanessa; there had been no recent discord between them significant enough to warrant a kidnapping, nor did she have the resources to hire foreign mercenaries.

Could it be Sierra? Unlikely. They had just met. If Sierra had planned this, she would have shown some sign of triumphant anticipation. But there was none–only solid confidence in her competition results.

Beth? Joseph?

Both had the means, but Joseph had no apparent motive, while Beth had just quarreled with her. But to what end would Beth go through such elaborate schemes?

Approaching the window, Maggie absorbed the scenery outside.

Nestled among the mountains, embraced by lush greenery and serene surroundings, the villa resembled something out of a painting.

Observing the elite foreign mercenaries patrolling the area, they were few in number, yet each moved with the lethal grace of a seasoned operative.

Maggie’s heart sank a few, notches.

It seemed unlikely to be Beth’s doing; she was more inclined to inflict misery than provide such lavish

treatment.

Knowing Beth’s animosity and envy. Beth would much rather drag her through the mud to vent out her rage and make her as wretched as possible.

The refined ambiance of the room, the comfort of the bed, the cleanliness of the surroundings–none of it matched the behavior of a vengeful kidnapper.

With Beth ruled out, Maggie’s thoughts turned to one other suspect.

Her heart sank further as she searched fruitlessly for her phone.

Nathael must be beside himself with worry upon discovering her disappearance.

It was impossible for the abductor to leave the phone behind. Her purse, containing the birthday gift she had prepared for Nathael, had disappeared along with her phone.

As Maggie contemplated her chances of escaping through the window, the door suddenly swung

Maggie, I’m glad to see you’re awake, Timothy said warmly as he entered, his usual harmless demeanor

intact.

Maggie’s spirits sank even lower when she saw him.

It was indeed Timmothy!

However, he seemed different today. Clad in a perfectly tailored black shirt, its fabric soft and gleaming, with each button meticulously sewn and a ruby adorning the topmost one.

The black shirt accentuated his pale complexion. While the ruby added a peculiar touch of darkness to his typically benign appearance, which contrasted with his typically harmless student demeanor, His tall, lean figure was now highlighted, shedding any hint of sunshine and harmlessness but casting a somber, brooding aura.

“Where are we?” Maggie asked directly, unsurprised by his arrival.

Timmothy seemed not to bother with pretense any longer. A smile broke out on his pretty face, and he said, “We’re in Alosea”

Maggie was speechless. He didn’t simply render her uncouncious; he transported her to an entirely different city.

Alosea wasn’t terribly far from Aquapolis–a little over an hour by plane–but distance didn’t make the reality of her abduction any less severe.

Maggie had to admit it; Timmothy was skilled to have brought her here so stealthily. No wonder Nathael was so wary of her interactions with him!
