Chapter 279 Are You Trying to Make Me Angry?
Nathael’s palm enveloped Maggie’s delicate hand, his fingers tracing idle patterns across her skin.
Maggie looked at his side face, finding him disturbingly content. Despite her recent aloofness, he appeared oblivious to her frostiness.
Whoever said you had a fiery temper doesn’t know you. You always have a very good temper. Even if I had done so many things that hurt you my previous life, you always forgave me.
Interrupting his absent–minded gesture, Maggie ventured a question, “Is there anything I do that will make you stop forgiving me?”
Nathael paused, his brows knitting together in a thoughtful frown as he turned to regard her with a solemn intensity. “I honestly don’t know,” he admitted.
He genuinely didn’t know. Despite his bad–tempered reputation for a less–than–ideal temper, he had always shown her boundless patience and understanding.
Is there anything she does that I can’t forgive?
The notion of something unforgivable had never crossed Nathael’s mind, let alone dared to linger there.
Maggie, on the other hand, had a wild idea which blossomed into a reckless curiosity. “What about… I sleep with someone else? Betraying your trust? Or cheating?” she blurted out.
With her question, the atmosphere shifted. The once comfortable warmth dissipated into a chilling
silence.
Sensing the change in Nathael beside her, Maggie felt a shiver creep up her spine.
His gaze turned frigid, his eyes darkening to a piercing intensity. “Are you trying to make me angry?”
Under the weight of his gaze, Maggie wisely chose to remain quiet.
After imagining it, she couldn’t accept the idea of Nathael having a relationship with another woman.
It didn’t have to be so complicated. Just a simple intimacy would tarnish his reputation in her heart.

Among the elite circles they moved in, Nathael was renowned for his steadfast loyalty.
Lost in her thoughts, Maggie winced as a sudden pressure gripped her wrist, drawing her attention back to the man beside her. “What’s wrong?” she asked.
“You’re still thinking of someone else when I’m by your side,” Nathael’s voice was low, obviously dissatisfied.
Maggie lifted her eyebrows, a wry smile playing at the corner of her lips. “Are you jealous? It’s a thought only, you won’t miss anything. Besides, I’m pondering about the women who have been with you.”
His complexion turned even darker at her words.

But before she could finish her sentence, Nathael’s hand cupped her chin, cutting off her words with a firm, possessive kiss.
A mute cheer erupted around them, making Maggie’s cheeks, neck, and ears flush.
She attempted to pull away, but Nathael’s grip on her hand tightened, anchoring her in place.
“Mmm….
Just as Maggie gathered her thoughts to respond, a sharp ‘click‘ sound pierced the air, followed by the blinding flash of a camera.
Maggie’s face turned even redder. She quickly pushed away Nathael and both of them turned their heads- to look at the back row,
“Sorry, I forgot to turn off the flash,” the girl explained with a surprisingly calm demeanour.
Nathael’s reaction was unexpected; instead of being irritated, he responded calmly, ‘Add Maggie on WhatsApp, and send her the photos later. Thanks.”
Maggie yanked Nathael’s sleeve, believing he was insane.
She was surprised when the short–haired girl enthusiastically agreed, “No worries! I will send it to Maggie soon. I’m not boasting here, but I took a great photo!” She promised to send the pictures promptly.
Handing her phone over, she urged them to take a look.
Maggie wished she could hide, but Nathael remained unfazed, his demeanour composed as he remarked, “Indeed, it’s a very well shot.
Examining the photo under the dim light, Maggie noticed the faint hue of blue stage lights casting an ethereal glow. She was adorned in a pink gown while Nathael looked dashing in a simple suit. They were seated among the crowd, sharing a passionate kiss.
Leaning back slightly, Maggie raised her head; she looked confused and panicked, but Nathael grasp on her chin conveyed a subtle mix of annoyance and dominance.
What a very beautiful moment! It was as though they were the sole focus of the world’s attention.
Retaking her phone, the short–haired girl glanced at the photo once more, her discomfort growing. “We can capture a better shot. How about another kiss?” she suggested.
Maggie just wanted to disappear, she waved her hand rapidly and said, “No need. This picture is already. perfect
After a brief pause, Nathael’s gaze shifted to the eager girl, asking, “Shall we try a different pose?”
The girl’s face lit up with excitement. “Absolutely!”
Maggie was furious, she tugged/on Nathael’s sleeve and whispered, “Don’t you have any shame?”
Nathael merely raised an eyebrow in response, a mischievous glint dancing in his eyes. “What’s the use of shame?
Taking a deep breath. Maggie felt as though she and Nathael were hailed from entirely different worlds.

As they conversed, oblivious to the world around them, the girl behind them seized the opportunity to snap two more photos, leaving Maggie frozen in place.
“Thank you….
Maggie had to interrupt with a thank you, while Nathael added, “Don’t forget the photos.”
Maggie promptly covered Nathael’s mouth with her hand, shooting him a warning look. “Shut up, seriously.”
Undeterred by Maggie’s reprimand, the short–haired girl sought Nathael’s approval, eagerly snapping a couple more shots before finally relenting, leaving Maggie feeling utterly flustered.
Time flew by in a whirlwind of snapshots.
The focus shifted to Sierra, who gracefully took the stage adorned in a pristine white gown and ruby jewellery provided by Luster Corporation. Gone was the facade of the aloof heiress; instead, she exuded a serene charm that captivated the audience.
“Sierra’s previous performance left a lasting impression. I wonder what she prepared this time? Are you confident?” the host inquired.
Standing tall at the centre of the stage with a microphone in hand, Sierra responsed softly, I’ve dedicated myself to this moment, pouring my heart and soul into preparation. I hope for the best outcome.”
Sierra’s demeanour was markedly different, her once guarded facade replaced by a vulnerability that only enhanced her appeal.
“Don’t worry. Regardless of the outcome, your hard work will shine through. I have every faith in success. You will definitely get a good ranking,” the host reassured.
“Thank you. I’ll give it my all,” Sierra replied.

“Of course, I’m aware that there are many negative voices in the outside world right now. I hope Sierra may continue to be herself, achieve her goals, and not be bothered by the outside world.”
Maggie believed that the host from their school had the finest intentions for all of the candidates, particularly the students of First Institute.
Did Sierra truly deserve this kindness? Was she worthy of such unwavering support?
