Chapter 266 She’s Back
Charlotte’s father was framed by enemies. The king seized the opportunity to reclaim some of his power. Discovering the math, Charlotte was heartbroken and publicly confronted the king, where she embarrassed him. The king was livid.
He bashed Charlotte to a remote palace, where she experienced the harshness of court life. Despite this, the king, who had spent considerable time with her, gradually developed feelings for her. He was moved by compassJOT.
However, Charlotte’s time in the palace was fraught with difficulty. Later, her family was falsely accused, and her sister died a deeply humiliating and tragic death. Charlotte lost several close allies during this period, but she finally realized that only power and status could protect those she cared about and protect her from being humiliated.
Eventually, Charlotte meticulously planned her return to gain the favor of the king. She made a vengeful comeback to the royal court, exacting revenge on those who had wronged her. Yet, as she did so, her love for the king faded completely, replaced by an Affection for a young general.
Maggie analyzed, and Joyce had no problem playing the role in the earlier phase. The character was an aloof, well–educated lady. She always maintained a world–weary aloofness, desiring nothing more than to live peacefully.
The temperament of Charlotte was suitable for Joyce, as she could portray a detached side of the character, but the challenge was the later dark turn, which didn’t quite fit her image.
But Maggie knew that Joyce could do it.
After all, Joyce had endured even more horrific events in her past life than the script described. Despite. her gentle nature, she was far from a saint.
Joyce had the resilience and fortitude to lie low for years, all for the sake of avenging past humiliations.
This was similar to Charlotte’s, but expressed differently.
Maggie was confident that Joyce could convincingly depict Charlotte’s transformation from deceived and hurt to cold and ruthless. A character who abruptly abandons her passive demeanor to participate in manipulative power plays would only intensify her allure.
Once Joyce broke free from certain stereotypes, her future career would broaden significantly, offering her more opportunities.
In this modern era, having more value means having more say and more resources to protect oneself.
“Just so you know, I’ve recently taken an interest in entertainment industry projects. I’ll pick some out and send them to you, Maggie mused.
Joyce was surprised by Maggie’s newfound interest in recent investment ventures. She didn’t think much of it.

Chapter 266 She’s Back
Around midnight, they all grew tipsy,
Mia switched from the movie to music, singing loudly every now and then. Fortunately, Maggie’s house was well soundproofed, sparing them any worries about noise complaints.
With flushed checks and her hair casually tied up in a bun, Joyce looked less aloof and more warm.
“Maggie, are you feeling down?” Joyce asked.
Mia turned and asked, “Did Nathael upset you?”
Maggie sighed softly and replied, “He turned me down.”
In short, the two parted on bad terms.
She briefly shared her story, then lowered her eyes and said with a hint of self–mockery, “So now, I feel humilated.”
Joyce rested her head on her hand. She cast a sidelong glance at Maggie, her voice soft and warm. “His refusal and anger stem from the belief that during a time when he thought there was mutual affection between you two but you wanted to turn it into a transaction.”
Maggie’s eyes were momentarily lost in a daze. Then, with self–mockery, she said, “So he thinks I’m trying to make it up to him out of guilt, and thus I’d rather go to bed with him?”
“Nathael is too proud. He’s indulged you for many years, and he wouldn’t value such compensation,” Mia responded, knowing that Maggie probably understood this as well.
Maggie remained silent for a long time,
Was there a sense of compensation and guilt? Perhaps subconsciously.
But she was more keenly aware that it wasn’t just for these reasons; it was more about increasingly feeling life’s urgency and constraints, pushing her into a frenzy.
“Let it be. We should drop this.” Maggie stopped the topic and drank quite a bit more.
Meanwhile, elsewhere.
Nathael, too, was feeling down. When Jimmy suggested heading to the Rogue Club, Nathael was up for it. They rounded up some friends and organized a gathering.
Inside the club, the lights flickered, the music blared, and tension hung heavy in the air.
Women in short skirts swayed to the music, and men bragged as they sipped their drinks. It was a display of luxury and excess in every direction.
Jimmy had a woman on each arm.
Evidently, he and Nathael were ‘coincidentally‘ both in a bad mood that day.
“What’s the matter, Mr. Hansen? Do you want me to?” The woman on his left couldn’t help but speak up. Her eyes greedily scanned Jimmy’s face, tentatively touching the lanel of his shirt.

brown pupils carried the deepest of chills, unpredictable and formidable.
Jimmy rugged at his lips and grabbed her hair. He pulled her before him and asked, “Didn’t Moses teach you manners? Who do you think you are?”
The woman went pale–faced, obviously frightened.
“Mr. Hansen, I’m sorry. I made a mistake.”
Moses served as the manager of the Rogue Club, typically overseeing the young female staff. Contrary to expectations, these weren’t your typical nightclub hostesses; they were high school students.
For one to be qualified to entertain someone with the stature of Jimmy, the candidate has to be a well- educated student with nice figures and untouched virgins. Only after Moses had instructed them to follow the rules would he allow them to accompany the guests.
However, frequenting such places and the lurgof easy money often breed greed, tempting one to seek
shortcuts.
In a city like Aquapolis, a figure like Jimmy, with his handsome looks and generous spending, was bound. to make a young girl have a crush on him..
Tammy was one of them. She was fortunate to initially come into contact with someone like Jimmy. Despite knowing his ruthless and unforgiving nature, it was human nature to dream that perhaps she could be the one to change him.
“Get lost.” Jimmy pushed the woman away abruptly. His temperament was one of hostility, and his expression was a clear sign of his foul mood.
Nathael glanced at him and commented lightly, “That much anger?”
Jimmy’s alluring eyes were deep and unfathomable. After a while, he suppressed the anger and restlessness
in his heart and spoke quietly, “She’s back.”
