Chapter 264 Casual Conversation

Beauty was common, and it wasn’t difficult to encounter attractive women. However, it was rare to come. across someone like Jover, who possesses a distinctive aura that sets her apart.

Many seek the thrill of conquest and pleasure, especially those who have everything early on, finding joy in dominance and destruction.

Among them, there were always those of ill intent and despicable who would stop at nothing to possess- even if just to claim her body,

Maggie recalled that the bribery of Joyce’s assistant occurred two years later. Because the owner was unwilling to offend a certain influential scion, the management company was in cahoot.

At first, the assistant tricked Joyce into drinking a drugged glass of water, and then the manager lured her to the place of her demise.

Joyce was drugged. With a calculated plot agaifist her, she ultimately couldn’t escape her tragic fate.

That’s right, Joyce was violated.

After the incident. Joyce never spoke of it to anyone. She just shut herself away for a week and then acted. as if nothing had ever happened.

Maggie didn’t know which day it was, as it was a long time after the incident. Mia was the one who found

Her condition and health were poor at the time. Mia didn’t tell her after she found out.

It was only when she noticed something off about Joyce and mentioned it to Mia that Mia told her.

With this recollection, Maggie couldn’t help but overcome a pang of heartache.

It was quite ironic–by the end, none of the three of them had a good life in their previous lives.

However, Joyce later made it big. Her career was booming. Who knows how much effort she had to exert, how many prices she had to pay, and how many times she had to grind her teeth and swallow her grievances? But ultimately, she made her assaulter pay the price.

The perpetrator died in the street. Exposing the evil deeds he had committed in life sparked a wave of online condemnation. The funeral was disrupted, and his grave had to be moved out of Aquapolis.

The path Joyce took was fraught with years of hardship, as if she were walking on the edge of a knife.

Maggie knew that among the three of them, Joyce was the most patient and peaceful; she was the most observant and calculating; and Mia was the most spolied and capricious, yet also the most open–minded.

Both she and Joyce hoped Mia could remain pampered forever, be well protected, wealthy, and loved, and live the exciting and vibrant life they dreamed of.

But later, none of them got their wish.

Maggie had fallen into contemplation for a long time until Joyce and Mia’s gentle calling brought her back. “Maggie, what are you thinking about?”

Joyce, how many years left do you have on your contract with the agency? Do you plan to renew it?” Maggie faced the worried gazes from both of them, but she didn’t explain.

She hoped they wouldn’t know some things for a lifetime.

Thinking of herself, Maggie couldn’t help but feel a sense of resignation. If she couldn’t alter her own fate, what about Joyce’s and Mia’s?

No, it can definitely be changed.

She was alive, and the Camerons‘ fate was different from the past. She must be able to make a difference.

That’s right, Sierra was about to take the bait. At least in this life, she wouldn’t give her the opportunity to gouge out her eyes or scar her face.

Joyce pondered quietly before speaking softly, “With less than three years left, the terms are too strict, and there are many traps and hidden rules. I’m not planning to renew the contract.”

Every day in the entertainment industry, she was on edge. NôvelDrama.Org content.

Both fearful of making a mistake that could be amplified by others and wary of falling into schemes and traps that ultimately cost her everything.

“Recently, I saw many disputes online about artists having problems with their companies before the contract ends. Since you’ve kept a nice image all these years and they don’t have anything on you,

it’s possible they might try to create some leverage or exploit you one last time before you part ways. You have to be extra careful before you end the contract, Maggie advised.

Her words prompt Joyce to freeze for a few seconds, and her expression turns solemn.

Time was still on her side, although she hadn’t taken much notice of it. Other companies had already attempted to feel her out recently.

“When the time comes, don’t let on that you’re not renewing. Wait until you’ve signed with a new company before you confront them, Mia suggested.

“Yes, we might be overthinking it, and you could part ways on good terms,” Joyce replied, her beautiful eyes reminiscent of a forest after a drizzle, obscure and misty.

“Cut it out. How many good people do you think exist in those companies? Especially now, when you have no backing and are profitable–stop dreaming.” Mia retorted bluntly.

“I know, I’ll be careful,” Joyce smiled, a warmth swelling in her chest, dispelling the chilliness of the autumn night.

Maggie said no more, as there were things she needed to think about.

“Do you have any plans to return to Aquapolis? Have you received any good scripts recently?” Maggie asked, knowing she had to carefully strategize for other matters, but she was well aware of the popular TV shows and movies of the next few years.

At this point in her past life, she wasn’t yet blind, and she remembered the shows that had gained popularity clearly. Even after she lost her sight, Mia would incessantly talk to her about them and even drag her to the cinema, despite her blindness.

Later on, perhaps feeling that her home was too silent and self–pitying and sometimes occupied with other inatters, she liked to turn on the TV just to fill the room with sound.

Maggie felt quite confident in this aspect.

Tm planning to start with shooting a movie in Aquapolis. It’s a supporting role; it won’t take more than two weeks to shoot. I have no further plans after that, but I’m reviewing a few scripts.”

As they chatted and ate, their faces gradually took on a rosy glow.

“What kind of roles? Tell me. I want to know if there are any directors who share the same good taste as me. Mia sat on the carpet with her back against the sofa, looking radiant in the warm light.

Mia had just asked what Maggie was curious about, so she listened attentively.

“I’m currently filming a romance movie in Aquapolis. I’m not playing the female lead, though; instead, I portray the male lead’s first love, the unattainable lover, Joyce explained briefly.

The film itself didn’t hold much appeal for her. Chris, a young man deeply immersed in the turbulent world of the music industry due to his passion for music composition, was the central character of the film.

Despite his struggles–living on cheap bread in a dingy basement and working odd jobs at the docks and a convenience store to sustain his dream–he remained determined.

One fateful day, he received an opportunity for an audition at a large entertainment company, where he caught a glimpse of a girl dancing in a practice room and was instantly captivated.

This girl, Elizabeth, became the inspiration for all his compositions. Chris eagerly pursued any opportunity to see her, collecting videos of her dances.

He splurged his hard–earned savings on an expensive suit in hopes of catching her eye when he met her.
