Chapter 198 He Deserves to Die
They strolled back leisurely, and Maggie found herself pleasantly satiated after the meal.
Her gaze wandered on the two of them a couple of times. After noticing nothing unusual in their expressions, she breathed a sigh of relief.
Post–dinner, Maggie tidied up the dishes, intending to wash them later..
Nathael slipped up behind her, enveloping her in an embrace, and murmured, “Let me handle that, so you can catch up with Leo.”
Leaning back into his embrace, Maggie couldn’t resist asking, “What did you and Leo talk about? Did you two fight?”
Arching an eyebrow, Nathael met her gaze squarely. “Do you want us to fight?”
Maggie swiftly denied, “How could you say that? I’m not that kind of person!”
Nathael didn’t say anything, only recalled Leo’s remarks before lowering his gaze and whispered, “You are very close to him.”
Maggie paused, momentarily at a loss for words.
In her past, she had been manipulated by the Camerons and often thought that Nathael was against her. Leo, on the other hand, had been her closest ally, even meeting an unfortunate end because of her.
“I’ve grown used to it over the years; he’s a significant part of my life,” Maggie spoke softly, reminiscing.
She and Leo shared a bond unlike any other. Unlike Joseph, Leo felt more like her true family.
Leo was someone she could always count on and trust indefinitely.
Nathael refrained from probing further, opting to brush his cheek against hers tenderly, his concealing his thoughts.
“Feeling jealous?” Maggie teased, blinking playfully.
“Yes, I’m jealous,” Nathael responded in a deep tone with a little grievance.
Maggie was momentarily taken aback, not expecting him to admit it.

After some consideration, she leaned in and delicately kissed his icy and determined cheek. “He’s not usually like this; he’s simply trying to provoke you. Maybe he is worried I will meet another Joseph.”
At the mention of Joseph, Nathael’s narrow eyes became gloomier,
She had sacrificed so much for Joseph and the Camerons, enduring countless hardships and humiliations.
Yet, how did the Camerons treat her in the end?
They treated her merely as a pawn without any sincerity!

Nathael held her tightly, his eyes shut tight, concealing the anguish within.
Once, he had almost decided that as long as Joseph treated Camerons for a lifetime.
Now when he thought about it, he just felt afraid.

Nathael finished up with the dishes and kitchen chores before joining Kevin to play chess.
Meanwhile, Maggie brewed some tea and served it to them.
After that, she practised piano in the living room.
Leo stood in front of Kevin’s bookshelf and flipped through a few books to read.
In the afternoon, the sun shone down on the old house, blended with the aroma of tea and pleasant piano sounds that filled the air. Occasionally, the old man’s laughing and the rustle of papers could be heard.
Maggie just felt relaxed, she didn’t have to be as cautious as when she was with the Camerons, nor did she have to calculate everything carefully.
In the evening, Maggie and Nathael bid their farewells, while Leo opted to stay overnight.
“I need to return to the Camerons. Things have been crazy there recently, with an unpleasant atmosphere. Even if I can’t find a solution, I must confront it,” Maggie explained.
At least that was its condition.
Nathael nodded and had Alex drive her to the Camerons‘ door.
Before getting out of the car, Maggie kissed his cheek tenderly, teasingly saying, “You have to miss me tonight.”
Nathael narrowed his eyes, pulling her back for a passionate kiss.
His voice was low and husky when he warned her, “Don’t tempt me.”
Maggie stuck out her tongue playfully, then dashed out of the car.

Maggie grasped the implication, offering her support as they walked. “I visited him yesterday, hoping he could aid the Camerons through this crisis.”
Madam Cameron’s eyes reflected urgency upon hearing this.
Noah and Mary glanced up at one another from where they sat on the sofa. Ronald and Olivia, who just descending the stairs, inquired, “What did Mr. Harris say?”
Maggie shook her head, feeling disoriented. “He said that her mother was very upset when she knew that I was with him. She originally wanted to grant his request to save the Camerons reputation. But, the recent dealings with the Luster Corporation have tarnished the Camerons‘ reputation.
“He suggested that supporting the Luster Corporation might anger Mrs. Harris and old Mr. Harris, which could harm the Camerons. And…
After speaking halfway, Maggie halted and glanced up at Ronald.
“And what?” Ronald asked in a deep voice. He had lost a lot of weight in just a few days.
After a moment of silence, Maggie’s heart clenched and she spoke bluntly, “And he said that the Camerons are now at a dead end, and the best course for the Camerons is to minimise losses and endure.”
Madam Cameron’s composure faltered at this news.
Mary jumped up directly and wailed, “I disagree! If the Luster Corporation fails, the money I invested must be returned to me. That’s all my saving! How can I live from now on?”
Ronald was silent for a long time before stating coldly, “Mr. Harris doesn’t understand how much effort we have invested into Luster Corporation. Let’s wait for now. There might still be a chance.”
Observing him closely, Maggie sensed Ronald had a strategy brewing.
So, what is his plan?
“Ask Joseph to return as well; I have something to say,” he declared.
Half an hour later, Joseph returned, visibly fatigued with dark circles under his eyes.
“Maggie, I heard about your participation in the University’s Piano Competition,” Ronald spoke with
concern.
“Yes, the preliminary round will start in two days.”
“I plan to boost the Camerons‘ investment and sponsorship for the piano competition to garner more attention from viewers and media.”
Ronald’s words surprised everyone in the room.
