Chapter 715 No One Is Perfect for Each Other
Chloe looked up at Joseph, looking at the latter with a profound gaze.
Xavia truly had her ways. When she was not causing a scene, she was hooking up with another man, and this man was either rich or noble given the reporter's attitude.
As expected, Joseph’s brows furrowed. "Give me your phone."
Chloe scoffed and handed it over. When Joseph saw the man in the video, his frown deepened.
Thinking he was jealous, Chloe cracked a faint smile. "Oh, are you upset?"
"I know what you're thinking but I assure you that I don't care who Xavia's with."
"Oh yeah, you don't care at all," she drawled, echoing his words.
Gritting his teeth, Joseph pointed at the man on his phone and hissed, "That’s Kenneth Gillingham, the prince of the royal family. In a few years, he'll be contending for the throne. His father and I are close friends and business partners."
Chloe was stunned. After understanding the complicated relationship, she suddenly burst into laughter. It was the first time she had laughed so genuinely in his presence since meeting again after five years.
She was a pretty woman with a pleasing face. Her charming eyes were round and bright and her nose bridge was balanced with her other features. When she laughed, the world seemed to light up too.
Chloe did not notice the gentle quality Joseph's eyes took on. When she was done laughing, she straightened up and said, "How wonderful! Maybe you'll even become her elder!"
Of course, it was easy to figure out the crux of the matter. Xavia and Kenneth had appeared in public together, and that meant that they had been in contact with each other for some time. There was the possibility of taking revenge on Joseph.
"Do you want only the worst for me?"
"Of course not. You're overthinking it," Chloe casually replied.
Joseph stopped arguing with her. He then wrote a menu. "Cook these tomorrow."
"Think it over carefully. You have only twelve meals. If I cook tomorrow, you'll only have eleven times left."
"I know how to do Math, thank you very much."
Chloe snorted. "I'm just worried you'll break your word."
Joseph gave her a determined look and said, "I won't."
He wanted to turn over a new leaf and change his old habits—be less despicable, less greedy, and let go of his extreme sense of insecurity. He wondered if Chloe hated him for failing to protect her and their child. It would be reasonable if she did, but it was not a big deal as long as he loved her. No one was perfect for each other. And more often than not, people built bonds over time, just like how they had gotten to know each other.
Not being able to read Joseph's mind, Chloe bowed her head and continued watching the interview. Kenneth was an okay-looking man. Although he was not a very handsome man, his thick eyebrows and large eyes marked him a righteous one. When he looked toward Xavia, his eyes were full of pity and adoration.Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.
Xavia, on the hand, kept her gaze lowered and spoke in a gentle voice. It was obvious to Chloe that she was pretending. Rolling her eyes, Chloe clicked on the video’s dislike button.
Suddenly, Harold's fingers twitched, and there were some fluctuations on the ECG beside him. Joseph noticed something and looked over from his pile of documents. He observed Harold for a while before immediately calling for the doctor who was on standby.
Chloe realized that Harold was about to wake up. She became so anxious that sweat dripped down her forehead. She was even more nervous than Harold's own grandson.
