Chapter 706 You’re Not Just Nearsighted, You’re Blind

Fifteen minutes later, the recording finished playing.

Joseph kept his eyes fixed on Chloe. On the surface, he appeared expressionless, but internally he was extremely nervous. He was like a child who had done something wrong and was waiting for punishment. Though he was a prideful man, he had to admit that the pain he surely caused Chloe was immense for misunderstanding her and Icarus.

After the initial shock, Chloe quickly calmed down. She had remained expressionless throughout the entire recording and seemed indifferent to the truth.

"I don't need to listen to all of this. I already know," she said.

Chloe had personally gone through the whole ordeal. No one knew the excruciating pain better than herself. Joseph thought he was doing her a big favor by revealing the truth, but to her, it was like pouring salt over her wounds. Luckily, she did not care anymore.

Clenching his jaw, Joseph said, "I—"

A knock on the door interrupted them.

"Are you in there, Ms. Chloe? I need a word," Michael called out.

Chloe glanced at Joseph and said, "If you came here just to play me this recording, then you can leave. I need to get to work."

"I’m not done speaking yet."

"Sorry, but I prefer working and making money over chatting with you." Chloe stood up and opened the door, smilingly welcoming Michael inside.

"The short video we shot yesterday is done. Take a look and see if there are any changes needed."

"You can just get your assistant to show it to me. There's no need for you to come here in person." Original from NôvelDrama.Org.

"Working with you brings me joy, so I'm more than willing to come here," Michael said, smiling gently at Chloe.

He was admittedly charming and gave off a different vibe from what was shown on TV.

"I'm equally delighted to encounter a partner as cooperative as yourself," Chloe replied with a smile.

Unable to contain his anger anymore, Joseph swept the documents on her desk to the floor, creating a loud noise in the process. Michael looked behind Chloe and noticed there was another person in the office.

Michael’s eyes widened in surprise. "Mr. Joseph?"

Joseph snorted, not bothering to look up.

"I'm sorry for not seeing you earlier. I'm a bit nearsighted," Michael explained, not minding Joseph’s attitude.

"I think you're not just nearsighted, you’re blind," Joseph replied, his tone icy and filled with menace.

Michael was taken aback. He looked toward Chloe and understanding struck him. He had heard some rumors about Joseph and Chloe online.

Upon hearing Joseph's impolite remark, Chloe's anger surged and she punched him in the chest. "Mr. Joseph, please leave."

He winced in pain. "And what if I don't?"

"I'll call security. You're disrupting my work," she responded firmly.

"Go ahead. Let's see who dares to throw me out of here," Joseph said, his gaze cold and his face filled with jealousy.

Stepping forward, Michael tried to mediate. "Guys, let's all calm down. It's my fault for intruding. Mr. Joseph is here so early, so it must be important business. I was the one who interrupted your conversation." He was good at reading the atmosphere and knew when to advance and when to retreat.

"Then what are you still waiting for? Get out," Joseph commanded with a frown.

People in the entertainment industry were not always the most trustworthy. They often showed one face in public and another behind closed doors. There were not many good individuals among them.

However, Chloe stood in front of Michael and said firmly, "You're the one who should leave, not Michael."

Gritting his teeth, Joseph hissed, "Are you asking me to leave because of him?"
