I Once Married You (Harper and Benjamin)

Chapter 54

How Can You Be So Partial?

She paused for a moment, then responded, "Our divorce won't bring any risks to the Martin Group."

"So you think divorce is more important than me being in a car accident and almost dying? I'm still lying here and can't even get out of bed, and you're so anxious to file for divorce with me? Are you worried that my feet will become disabled and get you into trouble?"

Harper was confused.

What was he talking about?

How could he confuse right and wrong?

She wanted to explain, but Benjamin continued, "You're unhappy because my car accident was related to Lauren, right? Harper, you are jealous."

His last sentence was not a question, but a statement.

Harper blinked gently and looked at him.

After a long time, she said, "If I am jealous, how are you going to explain to me?"

Benjamin asked lightly, "Are you in love with me?"

"What do you think?" She pretended to be calm.

"Since you don't love me, why are you so angry? Aren't you jealous?"

He seemed to be sure that Harper was jealous, but she just refused to admit it.

Harper just smiled, "If the person lying here today was me, would you be angry? Your wife had to go out in the heavy rain for other men and ended up in a car accident and was hospitalized. If you were me, would you accept it?'

Benjamin's face immediately changed as he stared at her coldly.

He didn't continue to talk about this topic. After being silent for half a minute, he said lightly, "I feel uncomfortable all over and want to take a bath."

Harper paused for a moment and said, "Right now?"

"Yes, now."

She said, "Then I'll ask the nurse to come over and help you."

"Ask the nurse to help me?"

"There are so many injuries on your body. I will hurt you. The nurse is a professional and won't hurt you."

After she finished speaking, she was about to go out and call the nurse, but Benjamin immediately called out to her.

He said, "No nurse."

Harper didn't say anything and just looked at him.

He added, "You help me."

She said, "Don't be stubborn, okay? You can't even stand right now. It's inconvenient for you to take a shower. If you accidentally fall, you'll aggravate your injury."

"Do you dislike the way I look now?" He stared at her with slightly narrowed eyes.

Harper was also stunned. She didn't say anything. Why did he think like this?

She paused before saying, "I don't dislike you. I'm just afraid of hurting you and making you fall. If you want to bathe, I can ask the nurse to help and let Larry come back later to help you." "No." He refused quickly.

He said, "We are husband and wife, why should I find someone else?"

She was helpless and really didn't know what to do.

But Benjamin insisted.

She wanted to say something more, but Benjamin said tepidly, "If you don't want to help me, forget it. I'm living in the hospital now, so I won't hinder or affect you in any way. If you want to visit me, you can stay for a while. If you prefer not to come, you can stay away all day and night. I can't even stand up right now. I can't do anything to you."

Harper was speechless.

What was he talking about?

She sighed, "It's not that I won't help you. I'm going to get the water, don't bathe, I'll wipe your body."

She didn't want to continue talking, maybe he would say something else to accuse her of being a substandard wife.

She also didn't understand why Benjamin had become so unreasonable.

She thought that probably he had stayed with Lauren for a long time and was infected by her.

Harper went directly to the bathroom, took a basin, filled it with warm water, then took a towel. She put the basin on the stool next to the hospital bed. She rolled up her sleeves and locked the door, then leaned down to unbutton his hospital gown.

There were a few scratches on his handsome face. They were not serious, but they were still particularly obvious on his cheeks.

But these scars did not affect his appearance at all. His facial features were perfect, but these scars gave him a bit of roughness. He was different from his usual feeling.

He stared at the woman who was unbuttoning him. She narrowed her eyes, and her face was cold, with no other emotions or expressions.

He couldn't help but ask, "Harper, do you hate me?"

Harper frowned slightly and looked into his eyes.

She said, "No."

"You're very reluctant to take care of me. If it really makes you feel uncomfortable, then you don't have to continue."

"We are husband and wife, it is my duty to do this."

"Just for duty?"

She didn't speak or look at him. She stood up, soaked the towel again, and wrung it out before continuing. She refused to say another word during the whole process. But Benjamin kept staring at her, making her feel uncomfortable.

She said calmly, "Don't look at me."

"I'm just injured and unable to get up temporarily. You don't even allow me to look at you?"

"I didn't think so. It's just that when you look at me like this, I can't continue to wipe your body."

"I was just looking at you and didn't hinder you."

Harper frowned.

She stopped talking and wiped his upper body quietly. Then she put on his clothes and buttoned them. She said, "Are you comfortable now?"

"That's it?"

"I've already finished wiping." Harper said.

Benjamin said, "You only wiped a half."

Harper unconsciously looked downward, with an uncomfortable look on her face. Although they had already had sex, she hadn't stared at his body as much as she was now. She was at a loss. Seeing that Harper didn't react for a long time, he suddenly reached out and grabbed her wrist.

She stiffened and subconsciously struggled. Benjamin refused to let go of her and said in a low voice, "Harper, you still dislike me, right?"

She frowned, "I didn't."

"Then why are you reluctant?"

"I..."

He pulled with a little force, and she fell onto the bed. She subconsciously leaned back and pressed directly on his injured leg.

Harper stood up subconsciously, panicking, and quickly reached out to lift the quilt to look at his wound.

Although the leg was fractured, the wound was not small and the bones were almost visible. After the pressure just now, the blood could be seen faintly through the white bandage.Property © of NôvelDrama.Org.

She frowned anxiously.

But she saw Benjamin smiling faintly, not caring about his wound.

He asked, "Are you worried about me?"

"Benjamin Martin, do you think this is funny?" Her tone was very unpleasant.

She shouted his full name only a handful of times.

Although she was angry, he felt somewhat pleasant.

He was silent for a few seconds and then said calmly, "I don't think it's funny. I want to see if you would care about me. You came to the hospital so late. People would think that we don't have a good relationship."

"How can you be so partial? Why are you accusing me when you got hurt for Lauren?"

Harper was almost pissed off.
