Chapter 542 Swift Action
Chapter 542 Swift Action
Jonathan spoke in a deep voice. “This is the number we have right now. Our entire strength lies here.”
Mabel and her group turned their gaze toward Jonathan, waiting for him to speak. Jonathan had already perfectly demonstrated his strength in Moranta, hence gaining everyone's admiration.
Jonathan continued, “Clearly, our strength still falls short of Anakin's. Anakin has six direct disciples who are all experts. Among them is Larry who has reached Level Eight of the Immortal Stage. He wields the Golden Treasure Blade, and his prowess is something even I find hard to deal with. Moreover, Anakin holds the Sovereign Mirror, making him even more difficult to deal with. Not to mention the surrendered marquis and those who rely on him like the dukes and viscounts. Therefore, it's impossible for us to directly confront Anakin.”
Aurora suggested, “Your Majesty, perhaps we can approach the eight princes and see if we can persuade them to side with us.” She paused, then added, “After all, the eight princes wouldn't be fond of Anakin, and you are the King chosen by our revered ancestor.”
Upon hearing that, Walrion immediately responded, “No way. The eight princes each have their own agendas now; they only care about their own territories. They would never take the risk to join us to confront Anakin. Moreover, if we were to contact them, they would probably leak our return to Anakin immediately.”
Jonathan said, “Walrion is right. We can't rely on anyone for this matter.” He paused, then continued, “These princes are all disunited and show no loyalty to the vampires. Once Anakin is dealt with, I'll settle the score with them one by one.”
Jonathan had his own plans at that moment. He was determined to firmly control the vampire force and
unify them to make them his private army. That way, he would have the capability to confront Ignatius in the future.
That was of utmost importance.
Ignatius clearly entered the divine realm with no good intentions.
Mabel said, “If we can't fight him head-on, then we must outsmart him. Jonathan, do you have any ideas?”
Jonathan said, “First of all, I can't wait any longer. If I have to wait until my strength is enough to defeat Anakin, the golden opportunity will have passed.” There was a pause before he added, “Our biggest advantage right now is that we are in the shadows, while Anakin is in the light. So, we can take our time and strategize.”
Jonathan was speaking in Chanaean, so to Torrence, it sounded as if he was hearing cryptic speech.
Nonetheless, it did not matter. When the time had come for Torrence to do something, Jonathan would inform the latter.
Torrence had also spoken privately with Jonathan, so he was aware that Jonathan's current situation was quite precarious.
Torrence did not have much to say. He came to the boundless universe simply to help his friend, Jonathan. Therefore, he would not hesitate to take risks under any circumstances.
“What do you plan to do?” Mabel asked.
Jonathan said, “I've had a rough plan in my mind for quite some time. Killing Anakin directly would be difficult, but what if Larry were the one to kill Anakin?”
Upon hearing Jonathan's words, Mabel and his group were all taken aback.
Nonetheless, their eyes soon lit up. Jonathan's idea was simply too revolutionary.
It was beyond anyone's expectations.
He was planning to have Larry, Anakin's most powerful subordinate, kill Anakin.
Larry was also the person whom Anakin trusted the most. If Larry secretly made a move against Anakin, then Anakin basically would have no chance of survival.
However, there was one problem. They did not know how to make Larry kill Anakin.
Walrion said in a deep voice, “Larry and Anakin are sworn friends. It's highly unlikely that he would help us kill Anakin.”
Beatrix said, “Things like friendship are not really the issue. Everyone fears death, and even if they don't, they have a weak spot. As long as we can capture Larry stealthily without Anakin knowing, then we're halfway to success.”
Jonathan said, “Beatrix is absolutely right.”
Mabel said, “Eastsummer is now Anakin's stronghold. To capture Larry unnoticed in Anakin's lair is very difficult, in fact, almost impossible. Moreover, if word gets out, Larry, our pawn, will lose his usefulness.”
Jonathan said, “So the first thing we need to do right now is to lure Larry out of Eastsummer.”
“How should we lure him out?” Mabel asked.
Jonathan pondered and said, “I haven't figured out how to draw him out yet. But now, I have a question for you, Walrion. Do you know someone who knows Anakin and Larry the best?”
Walrion said, “Anakin is naturally prideful and paranoid, so there aren't many who truly understand him. Relatively speaking, Prince Ocantine knows Anakin a bit more than others.”
Jonathan said, “I remember now. Prince Ocantine had been approached by Anakin before, so he had sent us a message about it, hadn't he?”
Walrion nodded, saying, “That's right.”
Jonathan turned to Mabel and said, “All right, Mabel. Arrange for us to get to Leyrudon as soon as possible. We'll meet Prince Ocantine first.”
Mabel said grimly, “Jonathan, your strategy is indeed great, but Anakin is not a fool. He might guess that we intend to learn about him from Prince Ocantine. If he has already set up defenses there, our situation could become very trick.”
Jonathan said, “Leyrudon is a place we don't know well, but I guess Anakin wouldn't think so much about it. He didn't even expect us to come back. Besides, there's an unlikely possibility of him guessing
such a detailed plan.” He paused, then added, “But we still need to be extra careful.”
Upon seeing Jonathan's confidence and determination, Mabel decided not to say more. She suggested, “We need to alter our identities and even our appearances, otherwise we'll stand out too much.”
Jonathan nodded and said, “Everyone except for Torrence should make some changes.”
The next day, everyone set off early.
Their appearances have changed, and they now have corresponding identities.
That was exactly what the Department of National Security excelled at. Before setting off, Mabel and her team made a headcount, only to find Torrence missing. “Where has Torrence gone?” Mabel asked Jonathan.
Jonathan gave a slight smile and said, “He has other tasks to handle.”
“What tasks?” Beatrix was somewhat displeased. “Can't you tell us?”
Jonathan laughed heartily and said, “It's nothing much. You'll know when the time comes.”
Seeing that Jonathan was unwilling to speak, everyone else decided not to press him further.
At eight in the morning, everyone boarded the flight to Leyrudon, Ustrana.
They arrived at Leyrudon International Airport at two o'clock in the morning in Leyrudon time.
After spending a total of eleven hours on the plane and factoring in the time difference between the two places, it was no wonder that they arrived at such an ungodly hour.
The night in Leyrudon was chilly and foggy, but that did not dampen the vibrancy of the international metropolis.
However, there was one problem. They did not know how to make Larry kill Anakin.
The airport was brilliantly lit.
Everyone quickly left the international airport. Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.
“Let's meet Prince Ocantine right now,” Jonathan said directly. “We'll handle this matter swiftly so Anakin has no time to react.”
Now that everyone was following his lead, they naturally obeyed every order he gave.
All of them had a pretty good understanding of Ocantine's residence along with other information.
Ocantine resided in a castle on the outskirts of Leyrudon, where the grass was lush and the scenery picturesque.
The group soon arrived in front of the magnificent Ocantine Castle.
Outside was a vast estate, complete with a swimming pool, a garden, fountains, and so much more.
The lights inside were brightly lit, yet the main door was firmly shut.
“Follow me.” Jonathan suddenly charged forward. His figure was like a flash of lightning, and in the blink of an eye, he had sent the gate flying.
With a resounding crash, the estate's main gate shattered as it could not withstand Jonathan's force.
Mabel and the others were stunned. Jared's way of doing things was just too barbaric. After all, the plan was to infiltrate secretly.
What he did was nothing near secretive.
Although everyone was puzzled, Jonathan had already rushed out. Naturally, they could only follow him.
Everyone, including Yeverie, quickly followed behind Jonathan.
In an instant, Jonathan had his sights set on Ocantine.
Ocantine was the soul of the castle, so it was incredibly easy for Jonathan to sense him.
In less than three seconds, Jonathan had already arrived directly in front of Ocantine's bedroom.
As for Aurora and the others, they were there to deal with Ocantine's subordinates.
Everyone there was an expert, and their response was incredibly fast.
Ocantine sensed the enemy attack just as Jonathan had him in his sight.
At that moment, Ocantine was sleeping, embracing a beautiful girl from Epea. He hurriedly got dressed. Just as Jonathan barged in, a glint flashed in the former's eyes as he blocked Jonathan's path.
Ocantine was no coward; he was a Level Eight expert of the Eternal Realm.
Although devoid of mana, his combat force was incredibly terrifying.
Moreover, Ocantine possessed a magical weapon, the Soulforge Dagger. The weapon was powerful and as fine as an insect's wing—a lethal weapon for killing.
Ocantine swiftly drew Soulforge Dagger from the spatial ring in his hand. Without a second glance, he slashed the door that was flying toward him and aimed the blade's energy at Jonathan's forehead.
This was done in one swift and terrifying swoop.
The blonde girl on the bed was so frightened that she hid under the bed.
The blade's energy flashed like lightning, sending a chill down Jonathan's spine.
As expected from an elite fighter, Jonathan did not so much as blink. Although his skills were not as advanced as Ocantine, the latter's attack was not that big of a deal.
Jonathan had already put on his Dragon Binding Gloves. He first darted to Ocantine's weak spot using
Antelope Rhythm and swiftly grabbed the vampire prince's waist.
Jonathan's move was incredibly vicious.
However, Ocantine snorted coldly and stood still. With a swift twirl of his Soulforge Dagger, he thrust it straight into Jonathan's spine.
The reaction of Ocantine was incredibly swift. His movements were natural and fluid, impeccably smooth, without the slightest flaw.
