I Am Unstoppable

Chapter 338

Chapter 338

The Great Sun Lama stood outside the door and said, “Galad, I have something urgent to report to you.”

“Come in,” Galad replied.

Jonathan was horrified, for he realized that he had met the Great Sun Lama before. The cat would be let out of the bag if the two of them met.

Jonathan's heart continued to beat at a steady pace despite the fact that he was alarmed.

He was capable of remaining calm no matter the circumstances.

As soon as the door was pushed open, Jonathan made his move.

Vananeru was already standing by his side, and Jonathan had hidden a sharp blade in his hand.

Moving at the speed of light, Jonathan seized Vananeru and held the blade against her throat.

The whole situation was a whirlwind that happened in the blink of an eye.

Galad's attention was fully on the Great Sun Lama, and he did not expect that Jonathan would strike.

Besides, Galad was in a relaxed state. He didn't have a reason to be wary of a normal individual like Jonathan.

He had assumed nobody could hurt him and his daughter in his presence.

Vananeru, on the other hand, fully trusted Jonathan and completely let her guard down.

Hence, she was not able to respond in time when Jonathan suddenly approached and held her hostage.

Previously, Mabel didn't manage to seize Vananeru because the former had been probing the situation. During the process, Vananeru became alert and had already summoned the primordial spirit of Galad in her mind.

Meanwhile, Jonathan had already seized Vananeru the moment the Great Sun Lama came in.

Recognizing Jonathan's face, the Great Sun Lama asked incredulously, “It's you?”

Galad's expression soured, while Vananeru was in complete disbelief.

“Why?” she asked in a shaky voice, overwhelmed with despair.

“You have a death wish!” Furious, Galad slammed his palm onto the desk.

Tears brimmed in Vananeru's blank, unfocused eyes.

The sense of utter devastation inundated her.

It was her first time falling in love with a man, thinking fate had brought them together and that he was her knight in shining armor. However, it had all been a cruel lie.

Jonathan was just using her. All those sweet-nothings he had said to her had been nothing but deception.

The realization was harsh for an innocent girl like her.

Jonathan shot a cold, hard look at Galad and said, “Cut the crap. If you don't care about Vananeru's life, go ahead and kill me right now. If you do, then let's talk things out.”

Frigidness and a murderous glint filled Galad's eyes as he asked, “What do you want to talk about?”

“I believe you might have guessed the reason I'm here. Summon Mabel and the cacodemon over here,” Jonathan replied.

Galad went silent and said to the Great Sun Lama, “Go seize Mabel.”

“Yes, Galad.” He shot a penetrating look at Jonathan before turning around to leave.

Jonathan knew Galad was not relenting when the latter asked the Great Sun Lama to only bring Mabel.

Tears streamed continuously down Vananeru's face. All of a sudden, she bit down on Jonathan's hand forcefully.

However, Jonathan did not budge and allowed her to continue biting him.

He didn't even flinch although she almost took a chunk out of his hand.

At that moment, Vananeru was stunned.

Jonathan heaved a soft sigh and said, “I'm sorry. I wouldn't have done this if I had any other choice. If you're destined to die, I will make sure to give up my life in compensation.

Vananeru fell silent.

She had resented Jonathan, thinking that he was a despicable man. However, it seemed like that was not the case at all.

It didn't take long before the Great Sun Lama brought Mabel over.

Galad planted a spiritual imprint between Mabel's brows, an imprint that she could not neutralize.

After all, neither she nor Infant King could compare against a Level Five Immortal Stage cultivator.

As long as he wished, Galad could easily blow up Mabel's head with a single thought.

Mabel was well aware of that fact too. Hence, she didn't dare to make any reckless moves.

Mabel's face lit up with joy when she saw Jonathan holding Vananeru hostage.

Galad then said to Jonathan, “It's impossible for me to let the cacodemon go. I can overlook the fact that you've crossed me and my daughter today. Take Mabel away, and I swear on my name that I will not make things difficult for you guys.”

Galad was making a huge concession, and the offer was so sincere that Jonathan felt tempted to take it.

Furthermore, he believed that Galad would keep his words, too.

Despite that, Jonathan still wouldn't agree to his offer. After all, that was his only chance to save cacodemon.

He took a deep breath and said, “The emergence of the cacodemon is the will of heaven. You cannot defy heaven's will even if you possess remarkable abilities. Today, I must take Mabel and the cacodemon away.

“That's impossible!” Galad retorted.

Mabel went over to Jonathan's side, harboring complicated thoughts. Even though her cultivation level was a lot higher than Jonathan's, he was somehow capable of achieving what she couldn't every single time.

The Great Sun Lama had spoken as well, and he also conversed in Ustranasian. Highly skilled people like Jonathan and the Great Sun Lama were knowledgeable individuals. It was really fast for them to pick up a language. While normal people would take many years to master Ustranasian, people like the Great Sun Lama could master all the vocabulary of a new language within three days, impressively applying a principle learned in one situation to all other situations.

“Sir, the fate of our country is at stake because of the cacodemon. If it grows stronger, it will lead to a great catastrophe, bringing great suffering to our people. As you have risked your life to save your companion, I can tell that you're a kind-hearted person. As a person with such a benevolent heart, how can you bear to put our people through this great suffering?” the Great Sun Lama reasoned.

He was a wise man, and his sage reasoning could easily put people to shame. Têxt © NôvelDrama.Org.

In a low voice, Jonathan uttered, “Your words are true, Lama. However, not only am I biologically related to the cacodemon, but it has also saved my life on multiple occasions. I wouldn't be able to live with my conscience if I do nothing and let it suffer.”

“Wouldn't you think that a single person's conscience is a fair price to pay for the peace and happiness of all citizens in our country?” the Great Sun Lama asked. “Sir, we shall remember your sacrifice and recite prayers in your honor every single day.”

Before Jonathan could say anything, the Great Sun Lama added, “Sir, are you disregarding the safety and peace of our people just because they're not citizens of Chanaea?”

“Lama, I may not be able to voice out my thoughts eloquently, but I believe in doing what is right before considering anything else. Everything happens for a reason. The cacodemon has never had the intention to dominate the universe. That said, its current state is not unrelated to your actions,” Jonathan said grimly.

“However, since things have taken such a turn, we are left with no other choice,” the Great Sun Lama replied.

“I'm sorry, but I must take the cacodemon away today.” Jonathan paused momentarily before turning to Galad and said, “I'm going to let you choose, Master Methendriel. Either I, Mabel, the cacodemon, and Vananeru die here, or you make the sound choice and everyone lives.”

A cold glint fleeted across Galad's eyes. “Are you not going to leave me with another choice?”

Jonathan kept quiet.

Then, Galad turned to the Great Sun Lama. “Lama, what do you think?”

Likewise, the Great Sun Lama was also wearing a grim expression. “I've watched Vananeru grow up. If

I could die in her place, I will not hesitate to do so.”

“I understand your point. Earlier, you asked Jonathan to sacrifice his conscience for the sake of our citizens, but he refused. Now, I find myself facing a similar dilemma, where I must choose between my daughter and the well-being of our people. If I choose to save Vananeru, I would be just like Jonathan, no?” Galad asked.

“You're a wise man, Galad.”

Galad turned to his daughter. “Vanareru, I have strived to live my life righteously. You'll always be the most important person to me. However, I have decided to sacrifice you today. I hope that you will not hate me for this.”

Vananeru's eyes turned red. She could understand the agony that her father was going through, as well as the unconditional love that her father had for her.

Her hatred for Jonathan festered in her heart right then. He was the scoundrel who had forced her father to this extent.

Hence, Vananeru blurted, “Father, I will always be proud of you!” She was, surprisingly, fearless.

Galad heaved a long sigh and said to Jonathan, “Go on. Kill Vananeru, and then I'll kill the rest of you.”

Jonathan was flabbergasted, for he had not expected that Galad would stand his ground that firmly.

Jonathan was amazed by Galad's sense of altruism.

They were just looking at the problem from different perspectives.

On the other hand, Jonathan's actions seemed petty.

However, that was his character, and he didn't have any other choice.

“Do it!” said Vananeru through gritted teeth.

Jonathan glanced at Mabel, and the latter appeared conflicted as well.

Right then, Jonathan finally realized that Galad was determined to never let the cacodemon go.

Hence, killing Vananeru would achieve nothing.

“All right, Master Methendriel. You win.” Jonathan took in a deep breath and said, “Let Mabel go. I'm not going to kill Vananeru.”

“Really?” An elated glint fleeted across Galad's eyes.

Even though he had decided to sacrifice his daughter for the greater good, Galad was thrilled that his daughter's life was spared.

Mabel shot an inexplicable gaze at Jonathan. “We leave together.”

“You go first. I'm going to follow soon after. Don't worry, Mabel. I have my plans. Let's stop being wishy- washy at a time like this.”

Mabel knew Jonathan had made up his mind and said nothing.

Galad then removed the spiritual imprint on Mabel's forehead, and she left Celestial Sky Monastery.

“Don't you think it's time you honor your promise?” Galad asked. He paused and added, “Don't worry. I won't make things difficult for you. Just leave.”

“I couldn't save the cacodemon, and for that, I owe it for everything that it's done for me. I am not afraid of death, but I will not be able to live with myself if I leave just like that. What is life if one can't even live with oneself? Hence, I hope that you can lock me together with the cacodemon until it dies. Is that possible?”

“As you wish,” Galad uttered.

Jonathan let go of Vananeru. “Thank you, Master Methendriel.”

Vananeru finally regained her freedom.

Right then, a cold glint flashed in Master Methendriel's eyes.
