Chapter 335
Chapter 335
After saying that, Jonathan felt a little embarrassed and asked, “Do you think I'm too childish?”
A beautiful smile graced Vananeru's face as she replied, “We, too, have plenty of translated martial arts novels here. I do read some of them, and it's normal for men to fantasize about being chivalrous knights. In fact, as women, we also have such dreams.”
Excited, Jonathan asked, “Really?”
Vananeru replied, “Unfortunately, I am powerless.”
Deep down, Jonathan thought to himself, Although you are powerless, your father is incredibly powerful.
He immediately patted his chest and said, “It doesn't matter as I will protect you.”
Vananeru smiled bashfully at that.
Jonathan continued, “I think life itself is pretty amazing.”
Vananeru asked, “Oh? Why is that?”
Jonathan said, “Well, we both exist in different corners of this vast world. Then, we met and got to know each other. It's like our encounter was destined to happen. This is also what we Chanaeans like to call 'fate'.”
Vananeru's eyes lit up, and she, too, agreed with Jonathan's notion.
Jonathan was a smart man and an experienced casanova. As such, he was well aware that young ladies were suckers for fairy-tale-like romance and the theory of destiny. They would definitely fall for the man who played to their fantasies as long as they had a good impression of the man.
Vananeru was no exception.
Jonathan then said, “Ms. Vananeru...”
Vananeru uttered, “Just call me Vananeru.”
Jonathan grinned from ear to ear. “Vananeru!”
Vananeru hummed in response.
However, Jonathan called her name again, “Vananeru.”
At that point, Vananeru looked at Jonathan with a confused expression. “I like the way you respond to me calling your name,” he explained.
Vananeru's charming face immediately flushed as red as a ripe apple.
Then, she asked, “How should I address you?”
Jonathan answered, “My name is Jonathan Lawson.”
“Jonathan Lawson...” Vananeru pronounced his name carefully.
“When I saw you that day, I thought you were very beautiful and my heart fluttered. But at that moment, I didn't have such a strong desire just yet. As you know, life is filled with beauty and various temptations, and I can't possibly make all the good things mine to possess,” Jonathan elaborated.
“What made you change your mind then?” Vananeru asked.
Jonathan replied, “A dream. That night, I dreamed that we got married and had two lovely children. We lived in a big villa with a swimming pool. The sun was particularly bright in my dream, and you were especially beautiful. Now that I recall it, everything is just perfect. It feels wonderful to be in that dream.”
Vananeru's heart skipped a beat, but she immediately clarified, “But that was just your dream, and the real me is different from the one in your dream.”
“I know that, but I have already fallen in love with you.” Jonathan expressed his love directly and unabashedly without a single trace of awkwardness from before.
Lowering her head, Vananeru muttered, “It all seems too fast.”
Jonathan consoled her, “It's okay. As long as you don't hate me, I'm more than willing to wait for you for as long as you need.”
Vananeru breathed a sigh of relief at his words.
Jonathan, on the other hand, was exhilarated. “I'm ecstatic to have met you today.” NôvelDrama.Org (C) content.
Vananeru had interacted with numerous men before, and she had abundant experience with the
opposite sex. However, most of those men were university undergraduates, and although they were full of vigor, none of them shared Jonathan's temperament. Therefore, those men were not charming enough to impress a woman like Vananeru.
Vananeru, too, thought she had found her true love the moment Jonathan appeared.
While rowing the boat, the duo chatted softly.
The vague sensation of affection between two mutually-attracted people was beautiful. They were not in a relationship, but love was already in the air.
Vananeru's cheeks grew rosier than ever, her complexion indicating that she was in love.
Jonathan was her first crush, generally described as her “dawn of love.”
Jonathan, however, felt his heart sink. He was not a heartless person, and deep down, it was never his intention to hurt an innocent and kind girl like Vananeru.
Alas, he knew that he was destined to hurt her in the cruelest way possible.
Will she ever trust other men again in the future?
Time passed in the blink of an eye, and it was soon midnight.
Jonathan and Vananeru got off the boat and onto the shore.
Since it was late, the latter had to return to the university.
After they got into the car, Jonathan drove her back to campus.
He dropped her off at the gate when it was half-past midnight.
The gate was already closed, but Vananeru knew a spot where she could enter by climbing over the wall.
After she alighted from the vehicle, Jonathan approached without warning and swiftly planted a kiss on her lips before she could even react.
Her red lips were moist and soft with a hint of coolness.
In that instant, Vananeru's mind went blank.
When she came to her senses, her face flushed scarlet red.
“I have to go,” Vananeru said, turning around and running away.
However, she still had to climb the wall to get in, so she soon stopped in her tracks and stood before the wall, clearly troubled.
For a well-behaved girl like her, climbing over the wall was really not her strong suit.
Jonathan offered to help, “You can step on my back to get up.”
Hesitating, Vananeru replied, “I don't think that's a good idea.”
Jonathan grinned at her. “It's my honor. You're my princess.”
Vananeru smiled shyly as a sweet sensation filled her heart.
But suddenly, something unexpected happened.
A group of men in black suddenly swarmed over from all directions.
About a hundred men surrounded the duo, and they all looked intimidating.
Jonathan and Vananeru were both shocked, but they soon understood what was going on because the man leading the group was none other than Pedor, whom Jonathan had beaten up before this.
However, Pedor was not the head of the group. He was standing beside another bald man.
The bald man donned a traditional outfit and was exuding a powerful aura.
This bald man was none other than Pedor's father, Torny Elliott. He was the godfather of the underworld in Thymion's Eastwind Boulevard.
Torny was a kickboxing master who relied on violence to gain power and influence. He had reached the level of Nascent Soul in his cultivation, but despite this, he still had an arrogant and overbearing personality.
The path to Nascent Soul emphasized the attainment of clear thoughts and freedom of the mind. However, those who achieved Nascent Soul weren't necessarily good, benevolent people.
“Hurry up and get in.” Jonathan decisively bent over to let Vananeru climb on him and escape.
He was frustrated at that moment. D*mn it! I can't unleash my true strength with Vananeru here, but if I don't, I would be beaten to death!
Although Vananeru had Galad's primordial spirit in her, Jonathan figured he should still try to hold the line first. He couldn't possibly use her as a shield.
Therefore, he thought it would be more convenient for him to deal with these men with Vananeru out of the picture.
However, Vananeru could not just bring herself to leave Jonathan behind. She knew that only death
would await Jonathan if she really left.
In retrospect, however, she was touched by Jonathan's actions and thought he was a bold and responsible man.
“You two lovebirds should just save it, because neither of you will get to leave tonight,” said Pedor maliciously.
Jonathan immediately stepped forward and shielded Vananeru as he glared coldly at the other man.
In no time, the men in black surged forward and surrounded Jonathan, Vananeru, and the Ferrari.
Torny remained quiet while wearing an indifferent expression, but his eyes were full of resentment and hostility.
Pedor then looked at Jonathan and spat, “You said no one could insult your mother, right? I'll f*ck your mother. How about that? Your mother is a b*tch!”
A cold gleam flashed across Jonathan's eyes.
Struggling to contain his anger, he said icily, “I swear I will kill you.”
At that instance, Pedor's words had ignited Jonathan's wrath and killing intent.
Pedor was totally unfazed. Cackling, he said contemptuously, “Can you even do that, you b*stard?”
Just then, Torny piped up, saying in a placid manner, “Pedor, I've taught you before that one should
always be polite and reasonable. Have you forgotten all about my teachings?”
Fearful and respectful toward his father, Pedor immediately said, “Yes, Father.”
Torny regarded Jonathan and Vananeru, but he did not know the latter.
Vananeru's identity was mysterious and little-known. Jonathan and the others only knew about her because of the Department of National Security's advanced information network.
Therefore, Torny didn't care about Vananeru at all. With his level of cultivation, he could not discern Jonathan's cultivation level either.
Facing Jonathan, Torny said, ”Young man, I failed to discipline my son. He was rude to you earlier, so I apologize on his behalf.”
Jonathan was instantly confused. This guy doesn't seem like such a reasonable person! As the saying goes, like father like son. Pedor must've gotten his terrible personality from this guy!
Jonathan was having a hard time figuring Torny out.
Following that, Torny said, “By the way, I heard that my son had a little altercation with you earlier today, right?”
Jonathan looked at Torny. In actuality, someone like Torny posed no threat to Jonathan, but the latter still pretended to be fearful and replied, ”Yes, you can say that.”
Torny queried, “May I know what happened? Don't worry, I am a reasonable person. In our line of work,
we value the principles of justice and righteousness.”
Jonathan responded, “If that's the case, then I would like to ask your son why he smashed my car for no reason and insulted my friend. When I spoke up and tried to stop him, he wanted to render me crippled. In that situation, I couldn't just stand by and do nothing.”
Torny turned to Pedor and asked, “Is that true? Did you smash his car? Heck, that car is a Ferrari. What did you think it was, a Ford?”
Pedor complained, “He took my parking spot.”
Torny retorted, “Even if he took your parking spot, you shouldn't smash his car!”
Pedor didn't say anything in response.
Torny then turned to Jonathan and said apologetically, “I'm sorry. It was my son's fault. How much did you pay for this car?”
Jonathan took a look at his Ferrari and said, “Around three million.”
Torny then answered, “Okay, I'll give you four million.” He took out his checkbook and handed a check for four million to Jonathan. Having done that, he said, “I'll buy this car from you, is that okay?”
