Chapter 310

“So, what’s your big plan with Elena?” Panther asked. After dropping Elena’s friend home, we were on our way back to the mansion. I looked back at Cisco and Elena, who were passed out in the back.

“What?”

“What’s your big plan with Elena?” Panther asked again. I heard him the first time, but that was something which I could not answer.

“I’ll take her with me, and in the meantime, I’ll figure out a way to help her.”

Panther sighed. “So you’ll continue leading her on.” He spoke in disapproval. “I think Elena’s might be good for you.”-

I frowned, ignoring his advice. I had been through a lot of bad shit in my life, but rejecting someone as perfect as Elena might’ve been the hardest thing I’d ever done. She wouldn’t understand, but I had to get back to work soon, and not getting her directly involved with the Castillo’s would only protect her.

These so-called business partners were good at going after the ones we loved to get their way, and I did not want them to go after Elena.Did I just confess my love for Elena?

“I know you’re worried about not being here to protect her all the time.” Panther continued, refusing to let go of the subject. “But things are different, and so are you. You seem more calm, relaxed—”

“Are you fucking stupid?” I asked, confused. Because I almost killed some guy on vacation.”

I will never forget the disappointed look on Elena’s face as I was only trying to help her.Was I selfish? Yes, undeniably. Elena was right to call me out. I had absolutely no right to control her life.

“I just think it’s sad that she is nearly throwing herself at you while you keep rejecting her.” Panther said. “If you don’t want her, I’ll take her—“

“Never,” I stated. I would rather die before seeing Elena with someone like Panther. Someone who had no respect for women, including my sister.

“I’m just saying, I don’t know what’s holding you back.” Panther spoke defensively. For someone who has known us for years, he was not exactly the brightest.

“The Castillo name,” I told him. “She doesn’t know who I really am, what I’ve really done-what kind of business I’m in….she doesn’t know.”

Although I knew Elena could think for herself and had probably already concluded that the altercation at the wedding was not some family brawl, I could still not take any risks,Phat if she would find out more about our family, and run to the police? Where would that leave me?

I hate to inform you, but Elena isn’t that perfect either.” Panther mumbled, adding to my nerves. Enough was enough. “Oh yeah, and how would you know that?”

Panther released a burst of uncomfortable laughter as we drove past the gates to the community. “Thank you for letting me spend time with Cisco!”

“No problem. Anytime.”

Panther nodded. “I know I don’t deserve it, and I wish I could’ve been a better father.”

If he really wanted that, he would go for it and tell everyone the truth. Was I any different? If I really wanted Elena, I had to go for it-and tell her the truth.

“Cisco likes you.”

Panther chuckled. “Yes, as an uncle, and Cisco likes everyone.”

Fair point.

“Whose car is that?” I wondered as we entered the driveway. My eyes landed on the unfamiliar jeep, which I had never seen before. It was not the kind of car our business partners drove.

“I don’t know. I just got here.” Panther joked, earning himself a smack on his head. “Come on, let’s go. You take Cisco.

Panther, who had misunderstood my words, nudged Cisco with his hand. “Wake up, kid.” He spoke loudly. “We’re home!”

“No,” Cisco mumbled almost inaudibly. “I said take him, as in pick him up and carry him inside, idiot,” I told Panther, who finally got the message.

Panther made his way to the back and carried Cisco without any complaints as he took him inside.

I wasn’t going to carry anyone. That was all which was going through my mind as I stared at Elena, who was peacefully asleep. “Lazy, it’s time to wake up.”

Elena groaned, waking up and stuck out her hands. “Carry me.” She spoke, exhausted.

“What?”

“If Panther can carry Cisco, you can carry me.” Elena opened her eyes. It appeared she had been awake this entire time, making me wonder how much of our conversation she had heard.

“I can’t believe I’m doing this,” I whispered to myself as Elena wrapped her arms around my neck. She looked at me with pleading eyes. “Please, I’m tired.”

I did not know how she did it, but she had somehow managed to let me carry her to her bed.

She was peacefully asleep and snoring as if she wasn’t awake a few minutes ago, but I didn’t mind. I tucked her in and knelt so I could take a better look at her. Even with drool coming out of her mouth, I could still not deny her beauty.

She was gorgeous, and the fact that she seemed to be well aware made her even more attractive. I smiled as I brushed her dark strands of hair from her eyes.

Elena was everything I wanted and, at the same time, the person who I couldn’t have. “I told you to shoot me in the leg if I couldn’t stay away from you…you might as well shoot me in the leg right now.”

No, I couldn’t.

What kind of monster would bring an ordinary citizen into this kind of lifestyle? She deserved better than that.

I looked at Elena for a second longer and brushed my hand through her hair. “Get some sleep.”

Conflicted, I headed to the library in the hopes of finding my mom. As expected, she sat down in the same chair as usual, but her usual glow had disappeared from her face. “Marvin, you’re back.” Content provided by NôvelDrama.Org.

“Mom-”

“Marvin, your dad has requested your presence.” My mom lowered her head. What was going on?

“Hey, are you okay?” I lifted her chin. She took a step back and shook her head, laughing. “Go to your dad.” She spoke. “Just…go to your dad. I’ll wait downstairs.”

“Did something happen to Tiago?” I wondered. “Karina? Is Karina okay?”

“Just go.” My mom whispered. “See for yourself, just go.

I let out a frustrated sigh. “Thanks for nothing!” I spoke as I rushed out of the library to make my way to my dad’s office.

It was Tiago, wasn’t it? He couldn’t take it any longer and couldn’t fight against his dark thoughts.

No, it had to be Karina. She was clearing bottle after bottle, and no one was stopping her. She was probably

in a coma.

With an awful pit in my stomach, I ran to my dad’s office and threw open the door without a single knock. “Dad, what’s—”

Surprised, I looked at Tiago and Karina, who appeared to be just fine. As usual, Victor stood next to my dad, but the person who grabbed my attention was the unfamiliar guy who was not afraid to stare into my eyes and acknowledged me with a rude nod Did he even know who he was dealing with?

“Ha, Marvin-you’re back!” My dad clapped his hands. He was being weird, but that was not unusual for him.

“This is Lucas!” He introduced the guy. Lucas. that was the name of the officer who had interrogated Panther, as well as a few others.

“What’s up.” I greeted him. Lucas placed his hands in his pockets and shot me a slight smile. What doing here?

What was the meaning of this?
