Chapter 23 Kneel And Apologize
Chapter 23 Kneel And Apologize
He didn't even have to guess. He instantly knew who that was.
Indeed, it was who he thought! In less than two minutes, Sophia had rushed past the CEO's office
again. She was carrying two folders with her, and glared at Colin when she looked through his window Còntens bel0ngs to Nô(v)elDr/a/ma.Org
into his office
Oops! Sophia didn't expect Colin to be looking at her as well. When their eyes met, she quickly drew
her gaze back and hurried away.
Damn, now Colin had seen her staring at him! Would he pick on her again for that?
Whatever! He deserved it! He was the one who didn't wake her when they arrived!
Inside the office, Colin flashed a triumphant smile.
She wanted to start a fight with him? Colin scoffed at the challenge since he knew that Sophia would
make for a poor adversary.
In the meeting room, on the 22nd floor, After putting herself together, Sophia opened the door and
entered. Inside the room, she saw Dorothy was yelling at Payne.
When she saw Sophia, Dorothy immediately turned to her, "Sophia Lo, are you late on purpose?"
"You bet." Sophia didn't deign to explain herself, but admitted to Dorothy's accusation.
Dorothy was too angry to say another word. After a long while, she managed to speak, "Sophia Lo,
you'd better pray that you won't fall into my hands!"
Sophia put the reprinted contract onto the desk, and glared at Dorothy coldly, "Ms. Lien, you are at SL
group, not at Lien's. You threats mean nothing here."
With her finger clenched, Dorothy walked to the desk, "So be it. Let's sign the contract, Miss Lo."
"Yes, Sophia, the contract is our top priority." Payne smiled at Sophia.
His ex-girlfriend was two hours late for the meeting, but Payne found himself not even a little bit upset.
After signing the contract, Sophia turned to leave the room. She didn't want to spend a single minute
watching Dorothy and Payne together.
Perhaps Dorothy was under too much pressure, Sophia thought. This woman was only recently, mad
and yelling at Payne. But now, she was giving him such a soppy, slavish look. Like a lunatic.
"Sophia Lo!" Dorothy called to Sophia just as she had reached the door.
Sophia stopped, but didn't look back.
"Don't you want to know how your mother died?"
She had caught Sophia's attention.
Sophia turned back with a ferocious look, and squeezed out three words "You did it?"
Dorothy took Sophia's reaction as a small victory. She caressed her hair on her shoulder, and looked at
Sophia in feigned horror, "Of course not! I'm too kind to murder others!"
Sophia walked up to Dorothy, and held her wrist, "Then who it was?"
Her fingers were clamped so tight around Dorothy's wrist that it left a mark. She tried to shake off
Sophia's hold on her wrist but failed. She called for Payne, "Payne Tai! Come and help!"
Payne hurriedly came along. But before he could pull Sophia's hand off, she tugged her hand back,
and shouted, "Don't touch me!"
It reminded her of that night when Payne tried to force her. Even looking at him was a rude reminder of
her ordeal. He was so repulsive!
Payne saw the disgust in her eyes, and was shamed into anger, "Sophia Lo, stop making a scene
here!"
She should be flattered that he had some interest in her!
"Who the hell was it, Dorothy Lien? Fucking tell me!" Jordan Li had promised to find out how her
mother had died, but she hadn't been informed yet.
Instead, Dorothy kissed the signed contract, "Kneel and apologize, then I will consider whether or not
to tell you."
Sophia's eyes widened in anger. She curled her fingers inwards to form fists.
"Hurry. We're about to go back to A Country. And you are never going to know if you miss this
opportunity. Hahahaha...." Dorothy's laughter echoed in the meeting room.
"You want me to kneel? Tell you what, you can keep dreaming. If you don't tell me what you know,
you're not going to leave here alive!" Sophia's eyes were red with fury. If Dorothy had anything to do
with her mother's death, she'd kill her now!
"Oops, no sincerity at all. So you don't want to know who the killer is?" Dorothy ignored her threat, took
the contract and prepared to leave with Payne.
Sophia held Dorothy's wrist and tugged her back. She lowered her voice, "Dorothy. I'm sorry, alright?
Please tell me who killed my mother."
Dorothy shook her hands off, and mercilessly said, "I told you to kneel and apologize. Don't you speak
English?"
"Dorothy Lien! Don't push me!"
"Hahahaha! Or what? Did I push you too far? Because I like it. And I will push you however far I want.
What now? Sophia Lo, weren't you going to kill me? Hahahaha..." Dorothy burst into laughter.
Sophia was so stupid! She could be easily fooled by a lie!
But Sophia was ready to sacrifice her life to find out who the killer was. Kneeling in front of others was
a tiny compromise in contrast.
"Okay, I'll kneel. Will you tell me after that?"
Dorothy was shocked. She hadn't expect Sophia to comply. She looked at Sophia, and spoke hurriedly,
"Of course, just kneel!"
Mom, I know you died for a reason!
I couldn't find out who killed you earlier.
But I will swallow my pride to learn the truth...
Sophia collapsed to her knees on the cold floor, "I'm sorry, Dorothy Lien..."
That was exactly what Colin saw when he opened the door of the meeting room.
In a sudden rage, he strode forward and pulled Sophia up on her feet. He didn't care what the two
secretaries behind him would think.
"What the hell is wrong with you, Sophia Lo?"
Dorothy didn't expect Colin to suddenly appear. Her face turned pale in horror.
She then realized that she might have underestimated their relationship.
But Sophia didn't look at Colin, she gazed at Dorothy, "Tell me now! Who is the killer?"
Dorothy stepped back, her face pale, unable to say another word. She had no idea who had killed
Sophia's mother.
Killer? What killer? Completely puzzled, Colin glanced at Sophia, who look so expectant, eyes shining
with hope.
"Out with it!" Sophia shook off Colin's hands, raced towards Dorothy, and clenched her arms with all
her strength.
Dorothy was scared by the expression on Sophia's face. She shivered and stuttered, "It was...It was...
Arron Lo did it!"
She couldn't think of anyone else to blame in that instant. But almost everyone knew that Aaron Lo had
disappeared. He made a good scapegoat!
"Utter nonsense!" Now even Sophia could see that something was wrong. Dorothy didn't know a thing!
And she dared to blame it on her younger brother! She left Dorothy's arms and grabbed her neck.
Gradually Sophia tightened her hold.
She was stupid to believe Dorothy!
"H..help..." coughed Dorothy.
Payne tried to drag Sophia away from Dorothy, but failed. "Sophia Lo, are you mad? Let her go!"
Colin calmly watched, and waved to the horrified Jamie and Wade. The two secretaries closed the door
and left.
Sophia continued to tighten her grasp. Payne kicked Sophia's shin hard.
As soon as Sophia let go, he pushed her away, and hugged Dorothy.
