Her Life Starts to Spin out of Control

Chapter 160 Renewed Determination

Chapter 160 Renewed Determination

The blanket was pulled off Sophia, exposing her to the light. She was trembling.

"Sophie..." A gentle voice came, but it wasn't the voice that could ease the despair in her heart.

Hugh pulled the blanket down, revealing her pale face and closed eyes. "Sophie, I'm here."

He pulled the distressed woman into his arms. Sophia didn't push him away, she was in desperate

need of a warm embrace.

She needed to know that there are still people who cared for her...

"Hugh..." The simple word cost Sophia all her strength. "My child... is dead..."

Hugh already knew. Seeing Sophia suffer made his heart ache. He cupped her cheek with his hand.

"Sophie, it will be alright. You'll have more children in the future."

Sophia shook her head. No, she wouldn't. It was her child with Colin, her last hope... She would no

longer bear Colin's child...

In the afternoon, Sophia asked to see her baby.

Not long after, a nurse carried a little bundle to her.

Her small baby, whose face and lips were blue, had his eyes closed.

Sophia nearly went mad at the sight. She reached out her trembling hands to take the lifeless baby

from the nurse's arms, hugging and murmuring affectionately,"I'm so sorry little one, I'm so sorry... My

precious baby... Mom loves you very much..."

Sophia sat there for over half an hour, holding the bundle tightly, unwilling to let go.

After a long time, the worried doctors managed to coax Sophia to let go.

Sophia was very weak. When her child was taken away, sleep quickly took over. Someone entered the

ward, and Hugh stood up to greet them.

Hugh greeted,"Aunt Sandra."

"Hugh, it's good to see you! How's Sophia?" Sandra laid her worried eyes on Sophia, who was

frowning with her eyes closed.

Hugh shook his head. Sophia wasn't doing well. After the death of her child, she seemed to have lost

the will to live.

June walked up to Sophia's bed, and placed the supplements she brought on the bedside table. She

whispered quietly,"Sophie, I'm your cousin June. I've come to see you."

Sophia didn't respond, but June didn't mind. Sitting down on the edge of the bed, she took Sophia's

hands into hers. "Don't feel bad. You still have us. We've successfully persuaded the elders in our

family. You can stay with us when you get discharged."

At the words, Sophia slowly opened her eyes. She looked at the elegant woman in a daze, and pulled

her hands back with all her strength. She shook her head as she mumbled,"No, I can't... I'm a pathetic

disaster... I bring misfortune to everyone good to me. Go away! Leave!"

Sophia went under the blankets and started trembling again.

It wasn't the first time it happened. The three looked at Sophia in distress.

Hugh suddenly told Sandra,"I need to go out for a while."

Still distressed, Sandra nodded distractedly. She didn't pay attention as Hugh left.

June tried to talk to Sophia. "Sophie, I'm your cousin. We share grandparents, uncles, and aunts.

Confinement after childbirth is very important for a woman. If you don't take care of yourself during this

time, you'll suffer from the lingering effects of the chronic disease for the rest of your life. What's worse,

you may also lose the ability to give birth in the future..."

June's words made Sophia calm down a little despite her shock. She remembered that June couldn't

have children. How much courage did it take for her to comfort Sophia this way?

When Sophia turned to her, she found June smiling at her. Despite the fact that she couldn't have

children, June's smile was so warm.

June's smile comforted Sophia...

Sophia pulled down the blanket to reveal her face, and her eyes were red with tears. "Please go home.

I don't want any more innocent people to get involved in my mess. Thank you for your kindness."

Instead of moving away, June took Sophia's hand. "Sophie, did you ever betray Colin?"

Sophia shook her head. "No."

"Did you elope with Payne Tai?"

Sophia shook her head again.

"Then you were wronged. Don't you want to vindicate yourself?" June's hand was warm, and her

presence was comforting like a sister.

Sophia hesitated. She didn't think she had the capacity to prove her innocence. She couldn't even clear

her name of the fictional murder, let alone fix her ruined reputation.

She was no match for Dorothy when it came to deception. How could she vindicate herself?

Seeing her hesitation, June continued,"If I'm not mistaken, your miscarriage was also caused by Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.

Dorothy Lien, wasn't it?"

Sandra had already arranged for two nurses to take care of Sophia in anticipation for the delivery. But

Dorothy intervened much quicker than anticipated.

Sophia remained silent at the sudden realization. Dorothy Lien killed her child.

If Dorothy hadn't pushed her, her child wouldn't be forced into premature birth.

"She's the person responsible for all your misfortune. But look at her... Not only did she use you to

dump Payne, but she took the opportunity to latch onto Colin. Can you really sit by and watch your

enemy triumph like that?" A flicker of hope gradually appeared in Sophia's eyes, sparkling with hatred.

Sandra walked up to her other side. "Sophie, there's still hope. I can tell that Colin really loves you.

Only you can mend the fractured relationship between you two. If you regain your courage, you'll get

back everything that once belonged to you."

Regain her courage...

Sandra's words gave Sophia hope. Her expression was full of determination.

Sandra and June said nothing more. They asked the nurse to bring Sophia some food. After watching

Sophia eat and fall asleep, they left.

In the Corridor.

June looked worriedly at her mother. "We didn't tell Sophia that the elders refused to accept her."

"We can't. She's already suffering so much. And don't mention Sophia to your grandparents. I'll deal

with the rest." Although Sandra and June didn't believe the rumors, Sophia had gotten herself into a

troublesome situation.

After the succession of scandals, the Hang Clan didn't have a good impression of her.

The clan patriarch and matriarch became furious and resolutely refused to accept Sophia as their

granddaughter.

As they stepped into the elevator, June asked,"Did Gregary Lien take Sophie's father?"

June had long wanted to divorce Patrick Lien, but when she learned about Sophia's distress, she

changed her mind. Deciding to postpone the divorce, she hid the signed divorce documents. She

needed to stay with the Lien Clan to get information for Sophia's sake.

"It could either be him or Jonas Pei. But Jonas is very discreet, the people I sent still hadn't found

anything." The elevator reached the ground floor. Getting off, Sandra and June exited the hospital.

At the SL Group.

Hugh went directly to the 88th floor. When he reached the CEO's office, he saw Colin discussing a

contract with Grit. At the sight of Hugh, Grit paused before quickly flashing a professional smile. "Mr.

Pei."
