Chapter 157 Only Trouble
Chapter 157 Only Trouble
Biting her lips tightly, Sophia had no choice but to accept it. "I hope my father is in one piece after he's
released!"
"Of course!"
Sophia hung up the phone and went back to her bedroom, holding the phone in a daze.
When it was nearly noon, she poured the soup she made into an insulated tumbler and dialed Wade's
number. She greeted politely, "Mr. Ji, how are you?"
"Mrs... Miss Lo, how are you?" Wade caught himself when he remembered that Sophia wasn't Mrs. Li
anymore.
"Mr. Ji, are you in A Country now?"
"Yes, I am. What's the matter?"
"I want to ask you for a favor."
Wade glanced at his boss, who was approaching him and nodded. "Well, what is it?"
"I made some soup. Could you... Bring it to Colin?" Sophia asked awkwardly.
Her request made Wade uncomfortable. He glanced at Colin, who was staring at him intently. "I'll try."
Wade's response puzzled Colin.
Sophia excitedly thanked him, "Oh, thank you, thank you! I'll bring it to you right now. Where shall I
meet you?"
"Let's meet at fountain by the office."
"Alright, I'll go there right away. I should be there in 10 minutes."
"Okay, goodbye." Colin's sharp gaze made Wade's scalp tingle.
Putting away his phone, he said respectfully, "Mr. Li."
"Who was that?"
"Well... A takeout restaurant. They're launching a new soup and they wanted me to ask you if you're
interested in trying it." Wade knew better than anyone that he could never speak about Sophia in
Colin's presence.
He had no choice but to lie.
Colin felt an inexplicable disappointment rising in his heart. He said coldly, "I'm not interested. Join me
in the conference room for the video conference."
"But..." He had to met Sophia in 10 minutes. A video conference usually lasted at least an hour.
Colin shot him a dry look. "Any problem?"
"No, sir!" Wade promptly followed, sending a message to the receptionist at the front desk.
10 Minutes Later.
Instead of Wade, Sophia saw the receptionist from the front desk walking towards her, with obvious
contempt on her face.
"Miss Lo, Mr. Ji asked me to come here."
"I see. Please give this to him, thank you!" Sophia didn't comment on her obvious distaste. She knew
why the receptionist was behaving this way. Her reputation had completely been ruined.
The receptionist took the tumbler that she handed over and left the fountain without a word.
Watching her enter the office, Sophia breathed a sigh of relief before heading for the subway.
When Colin returned to the office, Wade brought his lunch, along with an insulated tumbler. © 2024 Nôv/el/Dram/a.Org.
He shot Wade a puzzled look. "What's this?"
Something flashed in Wade's eyes. He hesitated to tell Colin the truth. "It's the new soup."
Colin suddenly looked grim. "Do I look like an idiot?"
No restaurant would send a guest takeout soup in a household insulated tumbler.
Wade sighed heavily. He had no choice but to tell the truth. "It was personally made by Miss Lo... She
wants you to try it."
Thud! With a loud noise, the insulated tumbler was smashed in front of Wade.
The tumbler burst, its steaming contents spilling on the ground.
On reflex, Wade backed away two steps before it splashed on him.
"Get out. Starting tomorrow, you'll be transferred to the Logistics Department for a month!"
Colin's indifference was rare to Wade. "Mr. Li..."
"One more word, and you're not coming back!"
Wade quickly stopped himself. "Yes, Sir." Alas! Shaking his head helplessly, Wade exited the office.
After leaving the office, Wade called the cleaning staff to clean the president's office. Then he went to
the Logistics Department, leaving everyone in confusion.
When Sophia called in the afternoon, she found out that Wade was relegated to the Logistics
Department because of her.
Sophia's heart clenched, and she apologized to him immediately. "Mr. Ji, I'm so sorry. I didn't know...
That Colin would get so angry."
"It doesn't matter, it's just a month. Take good care of yourself while you're pregnant, all right?" Afraid
that Colin would find out he was in contact with Sophia again, Wade hung up immediately.
Wade's avoidance made Sophia feel heartbroken. She only brought nothing but trouble to people who
were good to her...
Quickly gathering her wits, she dialed the number she hadn't contacted in a long time.
Sophia felt nervous when she heard the phone ring. She silently prayed that Colin would answer the
call.
But obviously she hoped for too much. Not only did Colin ignored her call, he also blacklisted her
number.
The automated voice kept reminding her, "The subscriber you dialed is busy right now. Please try again
later."
Sophia put down the phone with a bitter smile. Would Colin never forgive her?
Sophia had been pregnant for 6 months when August came. She started to feel the baby in her
stomach become restless.
After she tidied up, she went out with her bag. She prepared to buy some necessities for her child.
Strolling to the mall in downtown, Sophia looked at all the maternity and baby shops.
Several stores later, Sophia went out feeling disheartened because of the high prices.
Sophia rested on a chair in the middle of the mall and massaged her tired legs. She contemplated
buying baby things from small shops outside.
But she didn't want their baby to wear clothes of poor quality.
She still had a lot of money left from Colin. Sophia finally came to a decision. The child was also
Colin's, so she has the right to use his money.
Returning to the maternity and baby store, Sophia selected many baby supplies. She couldn't help
smiling at the thought of seeing their baby soon.
"Oh, who's this?" A familiar voice made Sophia's smile freeze.
Looking up, she saw a familiar couple nearby. The man who had once been warm and gentle towards
her, now looked at her coldly. Beside him stood the woman whom Sophia had despised her entire life.
She shot Sophia a smug look.
Seeing the couple hanging out together proved the rumours of their impending marriage to be true...
Dorothy boldly took Colin's arm. "Sophia, long time no see. Didn't you elope with Payne? Are you
coming back with his baby?"
Her deliberate words visibly outraged Colin. Dorothy immediately shut her mouth, not daring to say
another word.
Sophia gazed at Colin lovingly, while he looked aside with indifference.
