Chapter 610
Hudson was practically steaming with rage.
After snapping out his last words, he spun on his heel and stormed off. Alexa stood there, stunned. This wasn't at all how she had pictured things going down. She looked over at Flora, who was basking in the attention of Shawn, Darcy, and the others, then back at Hudson's retreating figure. Biting her lip, she decided to chase after him.
"Flora, is there really two hundred million in that card? You're insanely rich!" Darcy and the others were still reeling from the shock. Two hundred million was an amount they couldn't even fathom in their wildest dreams.
"Flora, here's your card back," Dr. Ray said, handing it to her. Showing off to Hudson had felt pretty good, but as a teacher, he couldn't keep Flora's money. Whether the card held two hundred million or not, he just couldn't accept it.
"Keep it," Flora replied, not taking the card.
"No, I really can't," Dr. Ray insisted, firmly sticking to his principles. They could find another investor if Hudson bailed, but he couldn't take money from a student.
"In that case, I'll give it to Dr. Jules," Flora said, reaching for the card. Dr. Ray's eyes widened at her words, and he quickly snatched the card back.
Giving it to Jules was absolutely out of the question! Wait a second... Seeing Flora's casual attitude about two hundred million, Dr. Ray had a terrifying thought. Could Flora be the wealthy benefactor who had been backing Jules all along?
"Mr. Otto..." Alexa called out, hurrying after Hudson. Already fuming, Hudson's mood soured further at the sight of her. Would he have been humiliated like this if Alexa hadn't insisted he come?
But recalling that Alexa had once saved his life, he managed to stay relatively polite. "Mr. Otto, I'm so sorry. I had no idea Flora would be so audacious. She actually..."
"Ha, just a rookie," Hudson spat out coldly, his anger reignited. "I know what you're getting at. Don't worry, I won't let Flora get away with this."
He was determined to make that girl pay. Alexa, seeing his furious demeanor, felt a mix of intimidation and a twisted sense of satisfaction. Flora had been too arrogant, and now she'd pay the price.
When Flora got back to her dorm, Eilies and Cynthia were still out. She changed her clothes and flopped onto her bed, starting a video call with Crimson. Everything on the island had been sorted out and was back on track, except for the poisoning incident.
"We haven't nailed down who did it yet, but we've got some leads," Crimson said, his expression serious. She had a hunch it was connected to certain people, and if that turned out to be true, it would be a real
mess.
"Oh, by the way, there's a job for you from the Brimer family over in Maple Grove," Crimson added.
"The Brimer family?" Flora raised an eyebrow. It seemed she couldn't escape her connections with them.Belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.
Crimson knew Flora and Ray had a pretty good relationship, which is why he brought it up. Otherwise, he wouldn't have bothered her, knowing how busy she'd been lately.
"Yeah, the Brimer family. Nick's health is deteriorating fast, and he doesn't have much time left. They want you to help him recuperate and are offering thirty billion."
Just as Crimson finished speaking, the dorm door swung open. Eilies and Cynthia walked in, their faces lighting up when they saw Flora. "Flora! You're back!"
"We'll discuss this later," Flora whispered, and Crimson nodded before ending the call.
"Flora! I missed you so much!" Cynthia exclaimed, climbing onto the bed and giving Flora a big hug. "Where have you been? We were so worried!"
"You still have your shoes on," Flora noted, giving a pointed look at Cynthia's sneakers dangling off the bed.
"I missed you too much to care," Cynthia pouted, her baby-fat cheeks making her look even cuter. "You haven't been to school for days. We were worried something happened to you."
