Chapter 279

Chapter 279 Spending the Night in a Mountain Cave

I subconsciously glanced at the handsome man beside me, my voice involuntarily dropping a few

notches, “Mr. Monroe.”

There seemed to be a moment of silence on the other end of the phone, no sound, I didn’t wait for the

next sentence, didn’t have the mood to talk more with him, so I said into the phone, “I’m hanging up

now.”

He then immediately hung up the phone.

Daniel glanced at me, didn’t ask who I was on the phone with, but simply said, “The mountain road will

be bumpy later, why don’t you close your eyes and rest for a while?”

I shook my head, unable to fall asleep, with all the muscles in my body tightly tensed at that moment.

But as the saying goes, too much of a good thing can be bad. Three or four hours later, just as Daniel

had said, the mountain road was not only bumpy, but also full of twists and turns. I had no idea how

long we had been driving, but I felt as if all my bones had been shaken apart, and my stomach was

churning.

After enduring for a long time, she ultimately couldn’t hold back and hastily raised her hand, wanting

Sebastian to stop the car.

Daniel reacted quickly. Seeing that something was off with my expression, he immediately said, “Stop

the car.”

Sebastian hit the brakes, and I hurriedly got out of the car, crouching by the dirt road and retching.

Daniel fetched some water and tissues, patting my back and handing me water to rinse my mouth,

saying, “There are too many mountain roads, and it’s getting dark. When you

feel better, we’ll eat something to recover before we set off again.”

He didn’t say anything, and I didn’t realize that we had spent the entire afternoon in the car. The car NôvelDrama.Org © content.

had been driving for so long, and we were already deep in some mountain range. Mountains

surrounded us, and the sky was gradually darkening.

I had dry-heaved everything in my stomach, feeling somewhat better, and managed to steady my

breathing, “How much longer until we reach Mount Snake?”

The phone in Sebastian’s hand had already lost signal, but fortunately, he had a map from somewhere.

After taking a close look, he said, “There are three or four more hills, but if we go further, there might

not be any roads. We’ll have to hike into the mountains.”

It was already a detour, many paths weren’t even considered roads. Fortunately, the vehicle Sebastian

prepared was an off-road vehicle, which could overcome most obstacles as long as they weren’t too

large.

I nodded, we would drive the car as far as we could, and we would take the back road.

My stomach felt much better, Daniel and I got in the car. We stood outside for a while, a bit dazed, but

fortunately, Sebastian had prepared warm clothes in advance.

I restarted the car and hit the road, but shortly after, a heavy rain suddenly started in the mountains.

The road I was on was already a mountain road, full of potholes and bumps. With the heavy rain at this

time, the road was flooded, making it even more diflicult to drive.

Not long after, it had gotten dark, and the road ahead became increasingly difficult to navigate. Seeing

that many places were completely obscured by the heavy rain, I couldn’t help but say, fearing that I

might put them in danger, “It’s too dangerous, maybe we

shouldn’t go any further. Let’s find a place to take shelter from the rain and rest for a while.”

Sebastian had been driving for nearly ten hours, a feat that would exhaust anyone. Coupled with the

fact that it was now nighttime, it was very easy for accidents to occur. It was far too dangerous.

Daniel probably had similar concerns, saying, “Let’s find a place to take shelter from the rain.”

Sebastian grunted in acknowledgment, driving the car to a cave not far away. Seeing the cave, I was

somewhat surprised, but also somewhat delighted. After all, taking shelter from the rain in a cave was

much better than in the car. At least, in such cold weather, we could make a fire to keep warm.

After getting off the car, worried about the potential danger in the cave, Sebastian fetched a flashlight to

check the situation. Fortunately, there were no wild animals or the like, just some weeds and deadwood

inside.

Upon seeing this, we all entered the cave. Fortunately, there was dry grass inside, and in no time, a fire

was started. Previously, Sebastian had prepared quite a lot of food in the county town.

He brought some food in and handed it to me and Daniel. Worried that he was too tired, I told him not

to worry about us and to sit down and rest for a while.

He hesitated, not moving.

I noticed that he seemed to listen to Daniel particularly. I couldn’t help but look at Daniel. I wasn’t sure if

it was because the fire was too bright, but the light made Daniel’s handsome face look somewhat pale.

After getting out of the car, Daniel had been mostly silent. Seeing me looking at him, he said to

Sebastian, “Rest first.”

After hearing this, Sebastian nodded and found a spot to sit down by the fire.

The rain outside was getting heavier, mixed with the harsh sound of the wind, and I was increasingly

worried about my mother and Alexander.

“Eat something,” Daniel said, handing me a bag of bread, his voice somewhat low.

Taking the bread, I nodded, looking at him and saying, “Thank you.” Seeing that his complexion was a

bit off, I couldn’t help but ask, “Are you okay?”

Sebastian had been driving all day, and not long after he sat down, he started to doze off. Hearing my

words, he looked up at us, also noticing the unusual color on Daniel’s face.

Startled, she asked, “Sir, what happened to you?”
