Chapter 205 We Went Home
Wesley nodded, “I heard that their chairman just arrived in River City recently.”
It indeed seemed to be Daniel, I nodded, pulling a smile as I nodded again.
Having said that, Wesley had said all that needed to be said. He was solely focused on persuading Content property of NôvelDra/ma.Org.
Walter to have a drink with him. Seeing this, Walter glanced at me and said, “I’ll accompany you to
meet Daniel another day.”
I was taken aback for a moment, lifting my eyes to meet his deep black
pupils. I was momentarily lost in thought, and for that instant, I had the illusion that he was thinking of a
solution with me.
No, it wasn’t an illusion, he was indeed brainstorming with me.
There was no way I could lose face for him at such a time. I nodded slightly and forced a smile at him.
Seeing this, he served me some food, his voice softening as he said, “Eat first.”
I nodded, uttering a hum.
He comforted me, then started drinking with Wesley.
In the past, I had never gone out to talk business with Walter, let alone accompany him to socialize. I
had never seen him socialize, or even seen him drink.
In my memory, he had always been an extremely well-mannered and

precious gentleman, mostly elegant and composed. Seeing him now, chatting and laughing with these
people from the officialdom at the wine table, behaving in a measured manner, I realized, this was the
first time I had seen him like this.
Seeing him and Wesley drinking one glass after another, it was clear that Wesley was a man who loved
his liquor. The others, though not quite like him, were not far behind. Once they started drinking, they
were unstoppable.
Naturally, I couldn’t understand why a group of men could keep drinking one glass of alcohol after
another while discussing trivial matters. The alcohol was so spicy and hard to drink, and the topics
were so boring and uninteresting, yet these people seemed to enjoy it extraordinarily.
By mid-month, someone, not sure who, had drunk a bit too much, probably feeling a bit empty inside.
After making a phone call, he had a few beautiful women come over, holding them in his arms as they
drank together.
Fortunately, Wesley didn’t, he seemed not too interested in women, just purely liked drinking. As for
Walter, perhaps because I was there, he didn’t call anyone either.
Looking at the time, it was almost ten o’clock. Everyone was flushed from drinking. Wesley’s phone
kept ringing one after another. After he picked up the phone, he didn’t know if he had accidentally
turned on the speaker. A harsh woman’s voice came from the other end of the phone, “Wesley, if you’re
not home before eleven, don’t bother coming back to this house ever again.”
With just one sentence, the other end hung up the phone directly, not even waiting for Wesley to say a
word.
For a moment, everyone was looking at him. Someone laughed and
said, “Your sister-in-law is waiting at home. You’d better go back, otherwise it will be difficult for us to
invite you for a drink next time.”
Wesley wasn’t angry either, he simply said, “I have to go.” After saying this, he looked at Walter, whose
face was still unscathed, and said, “Another day, I’ll invite you for a drink. I don’t believe that I can’t
outdrink you.”
The man was clearly a bit drunk, swaying noticeably as he stood up, but he still pretended to be sober
and started to speak to Walter.
Walter gave a faint smile, stood up and helped him up, saying, “Alright, I’ll join you for a drink next
time.” As he spoke, he glanced at Wesley’s secretary, who quickly stepped forward to assist Wesley
out of the private room.
The others were also swaying and staggering, with some even going to the restroom to start throwing
up.
Under such circumstances, naturally, it was impossible to continue drinking.
Walter had someone help a few people down the stairs and arranged for them to be sent away.
Only Walter and I were left in the box. I hadn’t said much, just watched him drink so much alcohol
without a change in his
complexion. Even I was a bit curious about how good his alcohol tolerance was.
Seeing me staring at him, he lowered his gaze to meet mine, a pleasant curve forming at the corners of
his mouth, “Have you had enough to eat?”
I nodded, throughout the night I only did two things, one was eating, the other was watching them
drink.

Seeing this, he slightly raised his hand, placing his palm on top of my head, gently rubbing it and said,
“That’s good, let’s go home.”
I was momentarily stiff, standing still as my mind went blank for a while, due to his sudden gentleness
and closeness. There was an indescribable feeling in my heart for a moment.
Seeing me standing still, he looked at me, his voice low and hoarse, “What’s wrong?”
“No…no.” He was like this, a bit too gentle, which I was not quite used
