Chapter 297
Scarlett's eyes flashed with anger, "Is it that bitch Giselle?"
Natalia immediately thought of Giselle too. After all, she was the only one who had seen her getting out of Scarlett's car today. But then again, Giselle was a part of the Schafer clan, Eveleen's cousin, so she hadn't brought it up earlier. Hamilton frowned, about to say something when Scarlett scoffed loudly. "Oh right, with Mr. Fowler backing her up, what's Giselle to fear? A slap on the wrist at most, am I right?"
Hamilton's expression turned icy as he glared at Scarlett, his eyes filled with a cold fury.
Elliott cleared his throat awkwardly, trying to calm Scarlett down, "Ease up a bit, will you?"
Scarlett snorted disdainfully, "Scared to face the music after messing up, huh?"
Hamilton's face darkened even more.
"If it really is her, I won't let it slide. Dr. Scarlett, you might want to watch your tone."
Hamilton felt guilty towards Natalia and had been putting up with Scarlett for Natalia's sake. But at the end of the day, he was still Hamilton. He could lower his posture in front of Natalia, but that didn't mean he would keep tolerating Scarlett. Scarlett got even more agitated upon hearing this. Elliott quickly held her back, leading her to turn her frustration towards him.
"Why are you pulling me back?"
Elliott looked at her seriously, "This is ultimately between Natalia and Hamilton."
"What do you mean 'Natalia and Hamilton's matter'? I'm a victim today too!"
Before Elliott could respond, Alden rushed in, breathless.
"Bro, sis-in-law."
He naturally called Natalia 'sis-in-law', unaware that she had broken up with Hamilton. The title was especially ironic to Natalia.
"I'm not your sis-in-law, Alden. Just call me Natalia."
Alden was shocked and looked at Hamilton in disbelief. Hamilton smiled bitterly, his voice softening involuntarily, "Alden has always wanted you to be his sis-in-law. He was over the moon when he found out I had proposed successfully." Natalia didn't even glance at him, turning instead to Alden. "So, have you found out who was behind this?"
Alden frowned, glancing at Hamilton.
Hamilton's expression was grim. "The surveillance camera where Scarlett parked was conveniently out of order, but from other angles, we saw Giselle heading towards Scarlett's car."
"So, it was her!" Scarlett was livid.
"But we don't have solid evidence," Alden admitted, looking at Hamilton.
Hamilton's face was a mask of cold resolve. He might have said something in Giselle's defense, considering her timing right after Natalia's argument, but he swallowed his words. It was time Giselle and the Schafer family learned their lessons. "I'll take you home?" Hamilton offered Natalia, who scoffed in response.
So he was planning to let Giselle off the hook again?
She turned to Elliott, "Elliott, could you give me and Scarlett a ride?"
Elliott nodded immediately, though he cast a glance at Hamilton.
Hamilton chuckled and grabbed Natalia's wrist, "I don't trust anyone else to do it."
"Let go of me!" Natalia's voice was colder than ever.
But Hamilton scooped her up in his arms, his voice low and serious. "Let me take you home, so I can deal with Giselle with peace of mind. Do you have any idea how it felt, watching your car go out of control and not being able to do anything?" Natalia paused, "You're really going to deal with Giselle?"
Hamilton smiled, "Doubting me over such a small matter?"
He then looked down, his voice slightly hoarse, "Natalia, I want to make up for every mistake I've made. I'm not asking for forgiveness, just a chance to make things right."
Natalia felt a bitter sweetness in her heart. Some things, after all, were beyond repair.
She didn't answer, simply saying, "Put me down, I can walk."
But Hamilton didn't let go.
As Hamilton carried Natalia away, Scarlett exploded. "What the hell, Hamilton, put her dow-"
Her rant was cut short as Elliott covered her mouth. Scarlett, now even more infuriated, bit Elliott's hand hard.
Elliott yelped in pain, "Scarlett, are you a pit bull or something?"
Scarlett glared at him, "Cover my mouth again, and I'll bite you for real!"
Elliott sighed helplessly, "Why do you have to get involved in their business?"
"Excuse me! Natalia and that jerk are not an item!" Scarlett snapped back.

When Hamilton drove Natalia to her apartment building, he parked but didn't unlock the doors.
Natalia turned to give him a sharp look.

of it."
This time, Hamilton didn't stop her. He just watched her leave, feeling a bitter taste in his heart and mind.
All he wanted was to make amends, hoping that someday, she might forgive him.
Leaning back in his seat, Hamilton lit a cigarette.
After finishing it, he drove away.
When Giselle left the bank, she headed straight to a loan center.
Ever since Schafer Pharma went under, the Lynd family had been caught in the fallout.
The Lynd's enterprises were barely surviving on loans.
But now, even the loan sharks were hesitant to lend them money.
"Ms. Lynd, with your company's finances in the gutter, you really have the nerve to ask for a loan? Do you think we're fools?"
Giselle's face fell, "How dare you! The Lynd family has ties with the Fowler family!"
The man laughed, "Ties with the Fowler family and you're still begging us for money? Get out of here!"
With that, a few brutes started advancing towards Giselle.
Giselle went pale.
"Fine, don't lend it! Who cares!"
She turned to leave, but just as she stepped outside, someone threw a sack over her head.
