Chapter 57
Chapter 57
Byrd family.
Lizbeth was scared out of her wits!
One of the kidnappers was dead, but the other was alive. Would he expose what she had done?
Even if the truth was exposed, Arthur would not do anything to her...would he?
She sat on her bed, stood up, paced back and forth for a while, then sat on her chair. Then, she got up again and went back to her bed.
"I didn't mention my name. That j*rk probably doesn't know who I am, right?
"What if that j*rk happens to see my photo and points me out?
"Arthur is so nice to me. He won't believe that j*rk!"
"But what if that j*rk shows him evidence?"
Sitting on the bed, Lizbeth felt uneasy. She kept muttering to herself, her face pale.
She was obviously sitting on a soft, comfy bed, but it felt like a bed of needles to her.
"No, this won't do!" Lizbeth took out her phone with trembling hands and called Jenson. He would help her, she was sure of it!
He picked up at once, his pleasant voice filled with surprise. "Lizbeth, this is the first time you ever called me yourself! What a miracle!"
"Don't...don't waste my time!" Lizbeth's hands were shaking so badly that she nearly dropped the phone. "Jenson, I got into trouble and I'm scared. Hurry up and come over!"
"What's going on...Beep!"
Lizbeth hung up before he could finish. She believed Jenson would arrive very soon.
Actually, she did not regret what she had done.

However, she was afraid that Arthur would hate her and avoid her if he found out! She could not bear to be ignored by Arthur. To her, that was worse than death!
Knock, knock, knock!
After about ten minutes, Mr. Byrd led Jenson, who was looking anxious, into her bedroom. "Lizbeth, Jenson said that you needed to see him urgently."
"Alright, dad. This doesn't concern you, get out!" Lizbeth chased Mr. Byrd out.
Seeing the door slam shut, Mr. Byrd sighed and went downstairs.
"What's wrong?" A few strands of hair were out of place on Jenson's head, and only two buttons on his shirt were done up, exposing his toned chest. He had obviously just gotten out of bed.
As soon as Lizbeth saw him, she immediately got her senses back. "Jenson, help me, will you? Only you can help me now!"
She threw herself into his embrace and wrapped her arms around his waist. Her pretty face was filled with a pleading expression.
"What's the matter?" Jenson's body stiffened, and a bitter look appeared in his charming eyes.
She usually hated his touch. She would only hug him and flirt with him when she had a favor to ask of him.
Lizbeth didn't answer. She pouted, and tears flowed down her cheeks.
"Aw, don't cry." Jenson took out a handkerchief and wiped her tears. His voice became even more gentle. "You can tell me anything. I will help you for sure."
Those words were exactly what Lizbeth had been waiting for!
She snatched the handkerchief from him and wiped away her tears. "You said so, you'll help me for sure!"
"Yes." Jenson hesitated for a moment and carefully patted her on the back twice.
Lizbeth acted like something dirty had touched her and frowned, then distanced herself from him.
"Don't touch me again!"
Only Arthur had the rights to touch her!
Jenson's eyes dimmed for a moment. He said okay and leaned against the wall.
"Jenson, I don't dislike you!" Seeing him in low spirits, Lizbeth was afraid that he would go back on his word. "It's just that my whole heart belongs to Arthur, and I can't stand anyone else's touch. Really, I see you as a friend!"
Jenson looked at her without saying a word, but his eyes that were usually dazzling became dimmer.
Lizbeth panicked. Was Jenson thinking of going back on his word?
"Lizbeth, I will do what I promised you." Jenson smiled brightly, but there was a sad look in his eyes.
"I knew you're the one who treats me best!" Lizbeth forced herself to kiss him on the cheek and quickly stepped away.
The warmth of her lips still lingered on his face and Jenson's eyes slowly lit up. He felt like he was in heaven.
Disdain and contempt flashed in Lizbeth's eyes, but she pretended to look sad. "Jenson, Lucy staged her own kidnapping to frame me. Arthur is definitely going to misunderstand me now. I'm very scared!"
The smile on Jenson's face slowly disappeared. Her lie was filled with loopholes, but he couldn't bear to call her out.
"You are my good friend. You must take the blame for me, or Arthur won't care about me anymore!" Lizbeth tugged at his arm pleadingly.
Jenson looked down and his thick eyelashes hid the look in his eyes.
He didn't answer immediately, which made Lizbeth panic. "Jenson, you said you would help me. You can't go back on your word! If you do, I will never...speak to you again."
"Lizbeth, in front of other people, think carefully before you speak next time. I'll help you with this incident." Jenson couldn't explain how he felt right then. He gave her a long look and left.
Lizbeth watched him go. She did not take his words seriously at all.
Her face was still streaked with tears, but she smiled wider and wider. At last, the smile on her face was a sinister one.
She wouldn't have to worry that Arthur would dislike her anymore! Jenson, that clingy fellow, had his uses!
...
At the villa by the river.
Chad had been waiting in the hall for a long time. At the sight of the darkening sky, he felt anxious.
Wasn't Arthur just punishing the kidnapper? Why was he taking so long?
"No, I can't wait any longer!" Chad tossed his half-eaten dragon fruit into the bin and stood up.
Max blocked his way and said, "Mr. Johnson said that you aren't allowed to go there."
"Hey!" Chad pretended to roll up his sleeves and scolded Max, "Did you think you can stop me when Arthur's not around? Get lost!"
While speaking, he reached out to push Max.
Max grabbed his arm, twisted it, and subdued him in the blink of an eye.
"Ouch, you id*ot, it hurts!" Chad swore that he was just holding back against Max for Arthur's sake!
It definitely wasn't because Max was stronger than him!
Max ignored him and ordered the servants beside him, "Bring me a rope."
"I'd like to see who dares to." Chad glared at the servants.
However, those servants seemed to have overlooked his signal and immediately went to get the rope.
Chad was speechless.
D*mn it!
Just as he was losing hope and thought he would be tied up as usual, Arthur walked out from the basement.
