Chapter 1093
Zoe arrived at the hotel as planned, only to find that Eugene was the only one there. Just as she was about to leave, she received a message from Nina.
Nina wrote, "Things are already out in the open. If you really don't have any feelings for him, you should be clear about that tonight. But if you have even the slightest interest, maybe you should give it a chance. Who knows? He might turn out to be the right one for you." Being given advice by someone younger left Zoe feeling both amused and a bit annoyed. But Nina had a point. Eugene wasn't a bad person.
She decided to stay, thinking, "Might as well treat it as getting to know a new friend."
With that thought, she confidently sat across from Eugene and said, "They probably aren't coming. Mr. Lowe, do you mind if I apologize on their behalf?"
"That's not necessary. Honestly, I wasn't looking for an apology. I just wanted to see you, nothing more," Eugene replied, his eyes betraying his calm tone.
Tonight, Zoe seemed even more beautiful and captivating to him. He felt like he had discovered a rare and precious flower, one he couldn't resist getting closer to.
Suppressing his excitement, Eugene instructed the waiter to bring out the food. Once the dishes were served, he went on to explain the preparation of each dish, sharing stories behind some of them.
Having traveled widely since childhood, Eugene had experienced and learned much more than his peers. He had a knack for picking up on unique details, making him well-versed in these little insights.
After listening to him, Zoe couldn't help but feel a bit inadequate. She hadn't realized that many dishes had such rich stories behind them. She had always thought chefs created them just to show off their skills.Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.
As the evening progressed and the drinks flowed, the two of them began to relax. Gradually, their conversation grew more intimate, and before they knew it, they were sitting close together. Meanwhile, at the movie theater, Nash found himself being pulled outside by Nina.
He was having a tough night. He had indeed asked the secretary to buy tickets, but somehow the wrong movie title had been given, and they ended up with tickets to an animated film.
If they had brought Orion, it might have made sense, but two adults watching an animated movie? It just didn't seem right.
People around them recognized the couple and began whispering about Nash being "under his wife's thumb."
Seeing the crowd growing, Nina let go of his hand and quietly scolded him, "We'll settle this when we get home."
"Don't be like that. I can make it up to you right now," Nash teased with a grin. "Honey, I know buying the wrong tickets was my fault. How about I treat you to some burgers or pizza?"
"No way. I'm trying to lose weight," Nina grumbled.
Nash glanced around and noticed store window nearby. Taking her hand, he said, "Wait here for just!
a
minute. I'll go buy you a gift to make up for it. I'll be quick, okay?"
"Just hurry up and go. Stop talking so much," Nina replied.
She usually wasn't like this, but with so many people watching, she found herself acting a bit stubborn, almost like an unreasonable woman.
Nash quickly ran to the store and returned with a dress for her.
When he pulled out the dress, the girls nearby gasped in admiration.
Nina couldn't help but smile, her vanity thoroughly satisfied. "How much did this cost? Was it expensive?" she asked as she tried to hand the dress back.
Nash quickly reassured her, "Your
husband has plenty of money, remember? Besides, I make money so you can spend it. If you don't enjoy it, what's the point of earning so much?"
"Well then, I want burger and pizza. And it's been a while since I bought new jewelry," Nina teased.
"Deal. We'll eat first, then go shopping. Whatever you want, you'll get," Nash said, wrapping his arm around her.
Nina, feeling shy, stood on her tiptoes and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek.
The crowd around them cheered.
