Chapter 860

Chapter 860

After a brief moment, the two of them collapsed on the ground, panting.

Gwen leaned against the door panel. “You’ve gotten out of practice after being away for so long.”

Ignoring Gwen’s mockery, Sean leaned on her shoulder. “How long do you plan on staying here?”

Gwen’s breathing slowly evened out. “I’ll leave as soon as the project is complete.”

After a pause, she asked, “What’s going on with Carol? She can actually meet Marietta now. Also, what’s

happening with Kirk?”

Sean stared at Gwen intently.

Gwen felt her heart pound at his gaze. “What’s wrong?”

“I can’t believe you’re only asking about Caroline and not how I have been during this time.” Sean’s voice

was gentle and soft, without a hint of resentment. However, it made Gwen feel like a scumbag.

“I … How have you been doing?”

Sean smirked. He had a gentle look in his eyes, but they had a hint of cunning. “Not so good.”

Gwen asked, “Why not?”

“I thought about you every day, but I couldn’t even see you. Did you think I would be fine?”

Gwen was speechless. After a while, she got up from the ground and looked up at Sean.

“We’re talking about something serious right now. Please take this seriously and tell me what happened

during your time here.”

Sean could always calm Gwen down when she was on the verge of snapping. “Fine,” he said seriously and

stood up. Property belongs to Nôvel(D)r/ama.Org.

Gwen remained silent.

While Sean told Gwen what happened during this period in the study, Kirk was staring at the destroyed

surveillance tape before him, his expression downcast.

Standing in front of him was his other assistant and Charles’ subordinate, Ethan Teabing. Since Charles

was in Easton, Kirk had Ethan as his temporary assistant.

Ethan was a capable man who could handle big responsibilities. But today…

“Why was the cafe’s surveillance tape destroyed?” Kirk asked coldly.

The pervert who had attacked Caroline had confessed that someone had put him up to the job, but he didn’t know who that person was. He only knew that the instigator was a woman.

However, they had met in a cafe. Kirk could find that woman as long as they could get the surveillance

footage.

It was supposed to be a very simple task, but something messed it up.

“Someone destroyed the surveillance tapes before we got to the cafe.”

Ethan added bravely, “Maybe something like this wouldn’t have happened if the Shadowers had been

around.”

He also disagreed with Kirk’s idea to move all the Shadowers to protect Caroline. But he wasn’t Sean, so he could only make cautious suggestions.

Kirk narrowed his eyes. “Are you telling me how to do my job?”

The question frightened Ethan so much that he fell to his knees with a thud. “Of course not, sir. It’s just —”

“Shut up!”

Kirk threw the damaged surveillance tape in front of Ethan. “Get a technician and repair it! If you can’t do that, you no longer have to come in to work at SY Group!”

His words frightened Ethan. “Yes, sir.” After saying that, he quickly picked up the surveillance tape and left.

After watching Ethan leave, Kirk slowly closed his eyes. However, something crossed his mind.

He hesitated for a moment, then picked up his phone and called Ethan. “Send people to watch Avery!” Ethan didn’t know why Kirk wanted to watch Avery, but he still replied, “Yes, sir!”
