BIT 7
“You’re awake?”
Rebecca struggled to open her heavy eyelids and saw Nicholas leaning over, studying her face. She didn’t respond and just blinked slowly.
Nicholas sighed in relief. “Do you know how long you’ve been asleep?” he asked, sounding very worried.
Rebecca tried to shake her head, but her neck felt stiff. “No,” she answered, barely whispering because her throat was dry.
“Two weeks! You were in a coma for two weeks! Becky, don’t you realize how precious your life is? How could you try to harm yourself over a man like Harvey!”
Rebecca frowned. “What did you say?” she asked, confused.
“Didn’t you deliberately crash yourself into a car that night?”
Rebecca frowned. “No, I got hit by a car because I wasn’t paying attention while crossing the street. I’m sorry for troubling you,” she said softly.
Nicholas waved his hand dismissively. “Don’t say that,” he replied, pressing the red button on the side of the bed to call the doctor on duty.
Not long after, the doctor and a nurse arrived. They examined Rebecca’s condition carefully. “Your MRI scan looks pretty good, but you have a fracture in your right leg, so you’ll need to use a wheelchair for a while, the doctor said cheerfully as if delivering the good news.
Rebecca glared. “A wheelchair?” That was the worst news she could hear. She was no longer Mrs. Specter; her life was going to change completely, and the fact that she had. to use a wheelchair made her panic.
“Just for a while, until your fracture heals,” the doctor replied, winking.
“How long?” Rebecca asked, her voice choked.
“Every patient is different, but typically it’s about six to eight weeks.”
After the doctor left, Rebecca stared at the ceiling, her mind racing about what steps to take now that she was no longer someone’s wife.
11:26 Wed, Aug 14 G.
“Becky? Is everything okay?” Nicholas asked cautiously.
“Not at all. This wheelchair will make it hard for me to start over. Why was I so stupid to cross the street without looking around? I really hate myself…”
Nicholas
sighed deeply. “Come on, this isn’t the end of everything! You have me. Use me as your legs for now; I don’t mind at all,” he said sincerely. Original from NôvelDrama.Org.
Rebecca looked at Nicholas for a long time, trying to understand his thoughts. “You know what? Your sudden appearance scares me a little. I’m curious why you were at the party that night when I don’t remember having you on the guest list, and-” she couldn’t finish her sentence as a sudden headache made her wince, her eyes nearly closing completely.
“Becky? Are you okay?” Nicholas asked, looking at her worriedly.
“My head…”
“Don’t overthink. I’ll call the doctor for pain relief.
later; your health is the most important thing richten, Becky, save any questions for
now,” Nicholas said firmly.
Becky’s mind was suddenly filled with troubling questions when the doctor returned. She wondered if Harvey had helped her during the accident. Did he worry about her?
“Mrs. Specter, you’ll fall asleep in a few minutes, make yourself comfortable,” the doctor said after injecting something into her IV tube.
‘Mrs. Specter?‘ Hearing that name made Becky’s tears flow, wetting the pillow. She closed her eyes and fell asleep again, hoping everything that happened was just a nightmare.
One Week Later,
“Nic, how long will it take to settle the divorce?” Rebecca asked as they had just arrived. at Nicholas’s apartment.
“For your case, it might be quicker since there’s no property dispute. I bet about one or two months. Do you want to stay here for now? Or do you want me to take you to your room?” asked Nicholas as he took out Rebecca’s sandals.
Rebecca just watched Nicholas in silence, curious about the fate that brought them together. “Nic, you haven’t answered my question, the one I asked you last week,” she said, looking deeply into Nicholas’s eyes.

Nicholas sighed deeply and then stood up. “I might need a can of beer,” he said as he walked to the fridge and grabbed a cold beer “Do you want anything? Almond milk, maybe?” he asked, surprising Rebecca because he knew exactly what her favorite drink
was.
“No, thanks.”
“Alright, so you want to know why I was at The Great Harvey Specter’s birthday party that night?” Nicholas said, his hands busy opening the cold beer in his grasp and quickly drinking it until it was half empty.
Rebecca just nodded slightly. She had every reason to be suspicious. After Lucy’s betrayal, she had no reason to trust anyone so easily.
“I was investigating Specter’s company. I’m working with the DEA because, according to some sources, there’s significant tax evasion going on. I showed up at the party that night because I wanted to meet you. I thought getting close to you would make it easier for me to conduct my investigation,” Nicholas said, spinning the beer can in his hand.
“What?” Rebecca opened her mouth and then closed it again, shocked. “You’re not making this up, are you? I know Harvey’s company well enough–I mean, they do everything by the book-”
Nicholas shrugged. “Well, the investigation will tell us how clean they really are. So, your question is answered, right?” he said cheerfully as if a burden had just been lifted from his shoulders.
Rebecca stared at him sharply, searching for any hint of deceit but found none. Finally, she nodded. “Why are you being so kind to me then? I mean, if your mission was for that investigation, doesn’t that reason no longer apply now that I’m no longer Mrs. Specter?” she asked softly.

Nicholas nearly choked on his beer, looking at Rebecca as if she were crazy or something.
“Um, about that, well…”
“Nic, you know it’s 2024, it’s hard to find people who do good deeds without a motive, right?” Rebecca persisted, waiting for an honest answer from Nicholas.
Nicholas sighed deeply. “Alright, I’ll answer, but I hope my answer won’t change anything.”

“Go ahead…”
“I, um, I’ve had feelings for you for a long time…”
“What?”
