Billionaire’s Pampered Wife

Chapter 680 New Year With Jasper

“What secret?” Stella asked.

“I will tell you only after you accept the case,” Zoah negotiated.

“What if I am not interested in your secret?” Stella was rational.

“It’s about Jasper,” Zoah gave her a hint.

Stella’s lips twitched. If it was about Jasper, she could just ask the person in question all about it.

Seeing that Stella did not speak, Zoah continued and said, “I trust your skills more than anyone else’s. I hope that you could solve the case as soon as possible, otherwise, I will not be able to celebrate New Years’ peacefully.”

“I’m sorry but I won’t do it. I am not interested in Jasper’s secrets. Besides, I had my own conflicts with Christian, so it will not be suitable for me to investigate it. I am pregnant now, so I need to keep my emotions in check. I hope you understand,” Stella said politely.

Zoah was getting anxious. It seemed that Stella was inconvincible. “If you find the real murderer within three days, I will tell you whatever you want to know. After all, I watched Jasper grow up, and he was good friends with my son. I have done something bad in the past, but it was for my daughter. Please take this as my apology.”

Stella still had things to do the next day.

“Fine. If you are convicted of killing Christian, I promise you that I will investigate this case thoroughly, only because your son was a friend of Jasper. If your life is not in any danger, and that your only concern is the rumors, then I would advise you to compose yourself and stop doing things that might reflect badly on yourself,” Stella said clearly.

“What do you mean by not doing things that might reflect badly on me?” Zoah asked nervously.

“Although I don’t know who the murderer is, I would like you to jog your memory. Who would benefit most from Christian’s death? You are in the spotlight now, and who will benefit from that? If your life is not in danger, then you shouldn’t get flustered and act as though you were guilty. Otherwise, other people might really think that you are the murderer. That is all I could tell you. Goodbye.”

“Hey, Stella,” Zoah stopped her. “If I were to become one of the suspects, will you help me?”

“Yes,” Stella simply said one word and hung up the phone.

She then asked herself the same question. Would she help Zoah if he were to be convicted?

Perhaps she would help him clear away the suspicion on him for Jasper’s sake. She might do that… as long as he gives up the idea of harming Jasper.

Stella continued fishing for the rest of the afternoon. On one hand, she wanted to calm herself down. On the other hand, she wanted to seize this moment of peace.

Time passed and she noticed Elvis approaching her from afar. She looked at the time, it was 3:15 p. m. Perfect.

She had just caught another fish. It was a catfish that weighed over five pounds.

“Mrs. Milton, did you invite the Dark Shadow over for dinner?” Elvis said in surprise.

“Yes, it’s New Years’ Eve tomorrow. I will make appropriate arrangements for them to go home for New Years and let them rest for a week. They may return to work in a week. I have transferred 200, 000 dollars to each of them, and I have also transferred 500, 000 dollars to you,” Stella said. Then, she stood up from the tent and gathered her clothes.

“What?” Elvis was shocked. “Mrs. Milton, did you just say that you have given me five hundred thousand dollars? When?”

Stella smiled. “In the morning. For the safety of the Dark Shadow, I’ve transferred the money over from Switchland Bank. It will take a day for the transactions to take place, so you should receive the money by tomorrow.”

“Five hundred thousand dollars is too much, isn’t it?” Elvis scratched his head in a simple and honest way.

“You deserve it. Alright, go back to work and help me take this bucket back. There is a lot of fish in it, so it’s very heavy. Why don’t you get a car over so that it’s more convenient for you?” Stella suggested.

“It’s fine, this is nothing. I could still walk fast even with 50 kilograms worth of weight on me,” Elvis said with a smile. He picked up the bucket and sighed, “Wow, I look forward to having your fish soup again, Mrs. Milton. It’s the best I’ve ever had.”

Stella smiled lightly. “It is not as good as you claim it to be.”

“But, Mrs. Milton, if you let the Dark Shadow go on a holiday, who would be guarding you then?” Elvis was worried.

“I won’t be at home from tomorrow onwards till an extended period of time. There is no need to worry,” Stella said.

Elvis understood, “Mrs. Milton, are you going to spend New Years’ with the Chief secretly?”

Stella smiled, and her heart was full when she thought of Jasper. “Kind of.”

She had absolute trust in Elvis, so she did not hold anything back. “Remember, you must never tell anyone about this.”

“Don’t worry, Mrs. Milton, I know. Rest assured, I will keep it a secret. However, Mrs. Milton, when will the Chief return? We all miss him so much,” Elvis looked at Stella expectantly.

“Soon, just a little longer,” Stella sighed secretly. She had also hoped that Jasper would come back soon. “By the way, how is Lynette? I couldn’t visit her because of some urgent matters. However, after the New Year, I will purchase some medical equipment and install them at home. She could come back to the manor then.”

“She is in good spirits and she has recovered very well. Apart from the wounds on her face, she’s doing pretty well.”

“Women are most concerned about their appearance. Elvis, let me ask you something. What do you think of Lynette?” Stella asked.

“A comrade-in-arms. She’s like a boy and I have never treated her as a woman,” Elvis said honestly.

Stella was silent. If it had been back then, before Lynette was disfigured, she would have implied to Elvis that Lynette liked him.

However, Lynette’s face was now disfigured and it would be hard for most men to accept it, let alone Elvis, who had little to no romantic feelings for her at all.

It would be better to talk about it after Lynette had regained her appearance.

“Take good care of her and her state of mind too. If there is anything that you might not understand or if you encounter any problems, feel free to just ask me directly.”

Elvis looked at Stella blankly. He did not understand the hint that she was dropping. He nodded his head and said respectfully, “Certainly, Mrs. Milton.”

Stella sighed.

If Elvis had hesitated and pondered over her words, it would mean that he harbored some romantic feelings for her. At least, he would know that she liked him.

It seemed that he was completely oblivious.NôvelDrama.Org © content.

Stella and Elvis soon reached the villa.

Suzi was preparing some dishes, and a delicious aroma wafted from the kitchen.

“Wow, it smells so good,” Elvis carried the bucket directly to the kitchen and saw that Suzi had prepared a lot of dishes. “Madam Shine, is this a wedding banquet? I think that it’s even more sumptuous than the one I attended a while ago!”

Suzi was amused by Elvis’ words. “It’s not that great. You’re such a sweet talker.”

“Of course it is. I’m drooling over all this food,” Elvis said as he pursed his lips.

Suzi smiled dotingly and said, “Endure it for a while more. We will have dinner at around 6 p. m.”

“Okay, I’ll take a look at the soldiers and assign two unlucky ones to guard the manor. Even though it’s New Years’ Eve, we mustn’t let our guard down,” Elvis said.

Because this involved Stella’s safety, Suzi did not object, “Thank you.”

Elvis left the kitchen and rearranged the soldiers’ tasks.
