Back in Time: Unshackling From Love (Mikayla Davidson)

Chapter 228

Chapter 228

Was Mikayla’s presence really needed?

Before she could even ask, Jerome hung up on her.

Mike’s voice echoed from outside the door In the same instant. His tone was prim. “Mrs. Miller, please come downstairs once you’re ready. I’ll start the car now.”

Jerome was surely an efficient man. She barely had time to think or refuse him before Mike appeared at

the door.

She changed out of her pajamas and into a loose long sleeved T–shirt. She strutted downstairs with a

small clutch.

She had no idea what was going on in the middle of the night.

She felt resentful for her sleeping time being delayed. She slipped into the backseat grudgingly.

Mike drove attentively, showing no intention to begin a conversation with her.

Still, Mikayla couldn’t help herself.

“Mr. Ashford, did Jerome say anything to you? Why aren’t you talking to me at all?” she asked.

Mike wouldn’t dare tell the truth, “Mrs. Miller, it’s not a big deal. Mr. Miller just told me to be more attentive to my duties so I won’t make you feel uncomfortable.”

Knowing that he probably wasn’t telling the truth, Mikayla stopped probing him.

They arrived at the hospital after 20 minutes,

“Mrs. Miller, Mr. Miller is at the emergency department. Do you need me to accompany yo

politely.

“It’s fine.” Mikayla shook her head.

She felt perplexed and asked, “Who’s in the emergency room?”

“I’m not sure either. Mrs. Miller, I’ll wait for you guys here.”

“Alright.” This material belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.

Mike asked

She wondered why her presence was needed for whoever was admitted to the emergency room…

It couldn’t be Celeste, right? She quickened her pace at the thought of it.

She quickly scrambled up the stairs.

She didn’t see Jerome in the corridor outside the emergency room. Instead, a man in his fifties appeared in her sight. He seemed plump, and his face was screwed up in anxiety.

Mikayla ransacked through her memories, yet her effort to recall the man’s identity was in vain.

She felt resigned and whisked her phone out to call Jerome.

Just then, the doors of the emergency room flung open, and a nurse wheeled a patient out.

Mikayla’s gaze swept past the patient, and her eyes widened in horror.

It was Kylie! Why was she admitted to the emergency room?

Mikayla had a bad feeling about this.

“Kylie, are you okay? You just scared me out of my wits!” The man cried, throwing himself to the edge of Kylie’s gurney.

So, he was Kylie’s father.

“Excuse me, Mr. White. The patient’s currently very weak from gastric lavage, so please let her head to the ward for some rest.” The nurse reminded him.

Carter finally stepped aside.

As they advanced closer to the elevator, Kylie spotted Mikayla, who was standing next to the elevator.

“Mrs. Miller,” she greeted Mikayla feebly, taking everyone by surprise.

Carter’s gaze darted toward Mikayla instantly.

His eyes flared with fury as he bellowed, “So you’re Mikayla? What are you up to? Why did you change Kylie’s medicine? She almost died because of you!”

“Dad, don’t say that. We’re not certain that she has something to do with this…” Kylie interrupted hastily,

her tone weak and fragile.

“It’s definitely her! Only three people came into contact with your medicine. Jerome wouldn’t do something like that, and the server did nothing at all. The footage clearly showed that she just delivered

the medicine to you. She had no reason to do that as well.

“That means, this Mrs. Miller-”
