An Understated Dominance

Chapter 2252

Upon hearing Fenley’s words, Alicia and Aurora glanced at him before shifting their gaze to Dustin. Curiosity and confusion etched across their faces as they pondered whether Fenley and Dustin knew each other.

“Sir Hudson, you’re quite a notable figure. How could someone like me ever cross paths with you? If you think I look familiar, it’s likely because I have a common face,” Dustin replied calmly, though his heart was racing.

His current appearance was a skillful disguise through Face-Changing Art that made him look different from his usual self.

Upon encountering Fenley, Dustin consciously suppressed his energy waves and ensured no anomalies were revealed. Yet, he didn’t expect Fenley to be so perceptive and sensed something amiss with just a glance.

After scrutinizing Dustin, Fenley smiled. “It seems I’ve mistaken you for someone else. But you’re certainly not just anybody. You must possess remarkable talent to garner such acclaim from the Marshall sisters.

“After all, there aren’t many in our guild who could match you. I’m sure you’ll soon make a name for yourself with your talents.”

Despite Dustin’s unassuming appearance, Fenley couldn’t shake the feeling that there was more to him than met the eye. He had a hunch that the so-called Dr. Rhys was anything but ordinary.

“Thank you, Sir Hudson. I look forward to that day,” Dustin responded politely.

As they conversed, Brian suddenly emerged from the villa. When he saw the gathering, he paused and frowned upon spotting Fenley.

A hint of resentment flashed in his eyes. But as Fenley glanced his way, Brian quickly masked his emotions and approached with a friendly smile.

“Febley, when did you get here? Why didn’t you notify me in advance? I could’ve set up a proper reception for you.” Brian smiled and greeted him warmly.

“Master Alloy sent me to deal with the troublemakers targeting our guild,” Fenley replied bluntly.

“I’ve already initiated an investigation about the assassins from last night. We should have some answers soon, so you don’t need to worry.” Brian still maintained his smile.

“I’m not worried. I’m simply following Master Alloy’s instruction,” Fenley said indifferently.

He added, “It seems your handling of matters has been less than satisfactory. Alicia was poisoned and narrowly escaped an assassination attempt under your supervision.

“If it wasn’t for Dr. Rhys timely intervention, she could have lost her life. Master Alloy is extremely upset and has tasked me with ensuring their safety.”

Fenley’s words held a tone of accusation. Brian’s inability to protect Alicia amounted to negligence. According to the Celestial Alliance regulations, he must be punished.Material © of NôvelDrama.Org.

“I admit my oversight about last night’s incident, but I promised there won’t be a next time.” Brian forced a smile.

As the senior disciple, he felt humiliated after being reprimanded by Fenley openly. Yet, given his status, he had no option but to bear it.

“Brian, your duties here are finished. Return to the guild with the enforcement team and report back to Master Alloy,” Fenley said impassively.

Brian frowned. “Fenley, isn’t this a bad time for me to leave? I’ve got a lot of stuff to deal with, and I’m slated to represent the guild in the Combat Tournament.”

“Whatever you’re tied up with, set it aside. As for the tournament, leave it to me. You don’t need to worry about anything.” Fenley stepped aside and gestured for him to get in the car.

Brian’s eyes narrowed at the enforcement team ahead as he felt an inexplicable sense of unease. He knew boarding that car now would make his careful planning and scheming pointless. He had invested too much effort to abandon everything at the moment.

“Fenley, are you seriously trying to steal my credit?” Brian asked in an annoyed tone. “We’ve always had each other’s backs. But now, just because I made a minor mistake, you’re disregarding our camaraderie and criticizing me. Isn’t that a bit too harsh?”

“Fenley, regarding last night, Brian truly gave his all. It’s not fair to blame him. If we’re pointing fingers, it’s those cunning enemies who caught us off guard,” Alicia quickly interjected upon sensing the tension.

After all, Fenley and Brian were comrades in the guild, so there was no need to let these issues strain their relationship.

“Yeah, Fenley. Brian’s been putting in serious effort these past few days and hasn’t been slacking off. Can’t you just overlook this?” Aurora pleaded.

The accusation of negligence, no matter its magnitude, carried significant consequences. The punishment would be inevitable if Brian returned with the enforcement team to the Celestial Alliance.

Conversely, the outcome would change if Fenley opted for leniency toward Brian.

“Alicia, Aurora, this is Master Alloy’s order. I can’t do anything about it,” Fenley said, shaking his head.

“I’ll speak with my dad. I assure you that he won’t complicate matters for you,” Alicia replied.

“This matter is more complicated than you think. Rules exist for a reason. If you slip up, there are consequences, no ifs, ands, or buts.” Fenley shook his head again.

“Fenley-”

Alicia was about to say more, but he raised his hand to silence her. Then, he turned his gaze to Brian and said coldly, “I’m running out of patience. I’ll ask you one last time. Will you enter the car willingly, or must I force you?”

His ultimatum carries an undeniable threat.
