Chapter 20 Witholding the Truth
Chapter 20 Witholding the Truth
October 14th
I avoided him all day after that until he called me down for food.
"I still have a few questions," he said after handing me a plate of the steak and vegetables.
I looked up at him and then back to my meat.
"That golden envelope," he replied. "You told me it was from the future Alpha of the Cerridwen pack
and then all this happens surrounding him. What did it say?"
"Just something from Logan," I said.
"Specifically," he said.
I looked down at my plate and pushed a carrot around for a bit.
He let out a frustrated sigh. NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.
"Okay," he said pulling my food away from me.
"Hey!" I exclaimed watching my steak get further away.
"You can have it back when you have cooperated," he said.
I folded my arms and leant back on the chair.
"What was in the letter?" he asked.
"He was telling me that when he becomes Alpha, he was going to kick Connor and me off the territory. I
had to go and make sure that he let Connor stay," I replied.
"Now we are getting somewhere," he replied throwing me a carrot from my plate. "And how did that
lead to him touching you?" he asked. "You told me he doesn't like you and he wants to sleep with you,
yes?"
I paused again only making him let out a frustrated grunt.
"I don't know why you are protecting him. Just fucking tell me," he growled. "He's a dead man anyway."
"In the letter, he suggested that in exchange for letting us stay, there could be a union between us," I
replied.
"A union?"
"Like a marriage. That's why I had to go into Cerridwen woods the first time. To find him and refuse. But
he wasn't happy so he...grabbed me. That's all. He's foolish and young, Leo. Please just let it slide."
"Let it slide?" he asked almost in a laugh. "He messed with you as if he wanted a fight with me. Now he
fucking has one."
"I already told you. He didn't believe me when I told him I was your mate because I didn't have your
mark," I said, "It was a misunderstanding."
"But mate or not, should he have grabbed you?" Leo asked.
"No, but-"
"Then he deserves everything he'll get."
"He doesn't deserve to die," I said.
"You have a good heart, Ella," he said handing my food back. "But next time you have a problem like
this, let me deal with things like this, okay? Maybe someone innocent won't end up dying that way."
That just made my blood boil. How dare he put the blame for those deaths on me?!
I got up from my seat, scraping the chair back in the process and marched around to him.
"Can I punch you?" I hissed.
"Sure," he replied with an amused smile.
I launched my fist towards his face but he caught my arm and used the leverage to push me down so
that my back was on the table and he was on top of me. My face was mere millimetres away from his-
our lips so close to touching.
He ran his finger along my cheek and down towards my mark as he continued to stare intensely into
his eyes.
His lips curled into a smile as he looked down at me immobilised under him as if there was nothing that
brought him more pleasure than to be in control.
"Get off me," I whispered, breathing heavily.
"You need to stop putting yourselves in these positions," he said as his fingers crept along my neck,
"It's making resisting me hard, isn't it?"
A shiver ran down my back before he brought his lips down to my mark and kissed it softly.
I gasped breathlessly at the tingly sensation which only gave him more gratification. He brought his
head back up and hovered his face over mine. I didn't and couldn't say anything
Why does he have to be so damn seductive?
The anticipation of his next move was killing me. I desperately wanted him to kiss me at the same time
I desperately didn't. I'd be disappointed if he didn't but glad too.
A few seconds later, he pulled me back to my feet and pushed the chair out for me to sit in front of my
dinner that was soon to be cold.
The chivalry is insane.
"Sit down, eat your food and we will never speak of Logan again."
I looked into his blue eyes and godly features before feeling a sudden flush of fury. Someone with such
horrible morals doesn't deserve to be that pretty. And I shouldn't find him that pretty either. And how
dare he use his prettiness to get answers out of me? And how dare he tell me what to do!?
I opened my mouth to object but he raised a naturally perfectly shaped, bold eyebrow and interrupted
me.
"I said we will never speak of this again," he repeated in a deeper tone.
I gave him another glare before, for some reason, I nodded sat down a began to nibble on a carrot
feeling utterly defeated.
"Are we still going to Luca's party?"
"Yes."
