Alpha King’s pregnant Ex-Luna

300

In the dim, early morning light, Ben’s body continued to recover, his strength slowly returning as his fever subsided. Nelly, exhaustion etched into her bloodshot eyes, had spent the night caring for Donna, before staggering through the previous night to watch over Ben. Relief washed over her when the doctor proclaimed Ben’s fever had reduced and he was on the mend. A weight lifted from her weary shoulders. Although still attending to Ben, Nelly decided to steal a brief respite, longing for a few moments of rest. However, her weariness enveloped her in a deep slumber before she even had the chance to close her eyes.

Alpha Kilian, too, had remained awake throughout the night, his heart aching as he witnessed Nelly’s unwavering dedication. But he knew convincing her to rest would be futile; she was as stubborn as a wolf alpha. So he bided his time, waiting until Nelly succumbed to sleep before carefully lifting her fragile form into his arms.

At that very moment, Tony, slumbering on the couch, stirred awake. His gaze locked with Alpha Kilian’s just as he prepared to depart.

Their eyes communicated silently. Alpha Kilian, in a low tone, instructed, “Take care of Ben. I’ll carry Mommy to the adjacent room for some rest.”

Tony nodded dutifully. “Understood.”

Only then did Alpha Kilian whisk Nelly away from the ward, cradled in his strong arms.

As if awakening to the scent of a prey nearby, Donna opened her eyes. Groggy and disoriented, she mumbled, “Where’s Daddy and Mommy?”

“Daddy took Mommy to the rest,” Tony informed her.

Donna accepted his answer, her thoughts evidently turning elsewhere. Her gaze shifted toward Ben, perched on the hospital bed. Determined, she hurried over to his side.

Her fingers lightly grazed Ben’s forehead, and a surge of excitement overcame her. “Ben’s fever is gone!”

Tony joined her, his gaze lingering on Ben, who slumbered peacefully. Emotions stirred within Tony, an amalgamation of sentiments he couldn’t quite express.RêAd lat𝙚St chapters at Novel(D)ra/ma.Org Only

Though Ben had always presented himself as unfazed, Tony realized his own negligence. “I should have paid more attention, even if it seemed minor. I should have called for a doctor. But instead, I ignored him…”

“Donna,” Tony called out.

“Yes?” she responded.

“He cares about you deeply,” Tony observed.

Donna refocused her gaze on Ben, her answer sincere. “I know.”

“And you should be kinder to him.”

Her brows knitted together in defense. “Are you insinuating that I mistreat him?”

Tony chuckled gently. “No, but there’s always room to do better.”

“Alright,” Donna agreed.

Their conversation carried on as the sky gradually brightened, casting a golden glow on the horizon.

Just then, Ben stirred awake. Fearful of Nelly’s reaction, he peeled open his eyes ever so slightly, surveying his surroundings cautiously.

Unbeknownst to him, Tony and Donna noticed his pretense and exchanged knowing glances.

Tony cleared his throat with exaggerated force. “Are you awake?”

Ben instinctively squeezed his eyes shut, pretending to remain asleep. “Enough. No need to pretend. Nelly and Daddy aren’t here,” Tony declared. But Ben remained motionless.

“Still pretending, are we? Very well then, Donna, go let Nelly know that Ben is awake,” Tony instructed.

“Okay!” Donna played along, as if preparing to leave the room. In an instant, Ben’s eyes snapped open. “Donna!”

She turned back, grinning mischievously. “Done pretending?”

Ben sighed, his helplessness evident. “Is this how you treat a patient?”

While Ben voiced his mild complaint, Tony had already adjusted the bed’s position, ensuring Ben sat comfortably.

Donna locked her gaze onto Ben, her voice filled with accusation. “And what about you? Why didn’t you say anything when it became so serious? You scared us all!”

“I didn’t want to worry Nelly!” Ben responded.

Tony’s frustration got the better of him as he swatted the back of Ben’s head. The blow, though seemingly forceful, lacked real intensity.

With a raised brow, Ben glared at Tony. “What was that for? I’m a patient!”

Tony returned his stare, his voice filled with exasperation. “You have the audacity to say that after what you put Nelly through? Us too? Don’t you realize she turned as pale as the moon from worrying? If you ever dare to do something like this again, mark my words, I won’t hesitate to set you straight.”

Ben had not considered the impact of his actions until now. He muttered, remorse evident in his tone, “I thought I could handle it alone. I didn’t think it would become so severe.”

Tony’s gaze softened as he looked at his younger brother. He couldn’t truly blame Ben, knowing he might have done the same if their roles were reversed.

Pouring a glass of water, Tony handed it to Ben. “Regardless, don’t let it happen again.”

“Okay,” Ben conceded. But as he eyed the glass of water, a mischievous glint flashed in his eyes. An idea had formed within his mind.

Adopting a pitiable expression, he played his part. “Tony, I can’t move my hand. How am I supposed to drink…” His words held the implication that he wanted Tony’s assistance.
