After the deliveryman left, Nelly’s phone rang, the sound cutting through the tense atmosphere. Her colleagues stared at her, their eyes glinting with hidden knowledge. They knew who the caller was, and they couldn’t resist teasing her.
“Wow!”
“That must be Mr. Morris calling, right?” someone playfully uttered. “You all are too nosy!” Nelly huffed, her voice tinged with annoyance. She walked away from the prying eyes and headed towards the pantry, her phone held tightly in her hand. She waited until she was alone before answering the call with a single word, “Hello.” A nonchalant voice, dripping with power and dominance, echoed through the speaker, revealing the identity of the caller Alpha Kilian.
“Did you receive the flowers? So, do you like them?” his voice drawled.
Leaning against the pantry wall, Nelly couldn’t help but ask, “Tell me, why are you doing this?” Alpha Kilian’s response dripped with confidence.
“Why am I doing this? I’m asserting my dominance, of course!”
Confused, Nelly thought her coworkers were just making an elaborate joke. But Alpha Kilian had indeed witnessed the scene, and the possessiveness in his tone confirmed it. She couldn’t help but smirk.
“Mr. Morris, could you possibly be jealous?” Nelly taunted.
The hoarseness in his voice became more pronounced as he replied, “I do not consider this as an act of jealousy. Still, I must let them know that you are already taken and belong to me, so they shouldn’t even think of coveting you.”
A mischievous gleam lit up Nelly’s eyes as she smirked, reveling in the possessiveness of her powerful Alpha.
“Oh? What do you mean? To whom do I belong?” she challenged.
“You’re mine, sooner or later,” he growled, his voice filled with dominance.
For a moment, Nelly fell silent. The sunlight streaming through the window reflected off her eyes, giving them a radiant glow. Finally, she spoke, her words filled with satisfaction.
“It’s nothing. I have some things to do now. Bye.”
With that, she abruptly hung up, not waiting for Alpha Kilian’s reply. A contented smile played on her lips as she gazed at her phone. Pocketing it, she turned and confidently left the pantry behind.
Meanwhile, Tony and Ben accompanied Alpha Wade to the supermarket. While Alpha Wade meticulously selected groceries, the two brothers exchanged silent glances, their eyes speaking volumes. Alpha Wade caught them in the act and couldn’t help but question them, curiosity piqued.
“What are you two doing?”
Tony quickly regained his composure and grinned at Alpha Wade. “It’s nothing.”
Ben also smiled, before chiming in, “We were just discussing what to buy…” With a cheerful stride, he moved forward. “Gramps, do you still need us to buy anything else?”
“We should be almost done after purchasing some fresh fruits.”
Tony, quick on his feet, pointed in the direction of the fruit section. “Fruits, you say? I think they are placed over there. I’ll accompany you to choose them.”
Alpha Wade beamed, happily following Ben towards the fruits. Tony stuck close behind, never missing a beat. As Alpha Wade meticulously selected each fruit, Tony and Ben watched his every move.
“Gramps…” Tony started, unable to contain his curiosity.
“Yes?” Alpha Wade turned his attention to Tony.
“Are you still in a hurry to find a boyfriend for Nelly?” Tony asked boldly.
Alpha Wade’s gaze shifted, a flicker of surprise in his eyes. “Why do you ask?”
“We noticed that you aren’t as impatient about it anymore. So, we thought we’d ask,” Ben added, joining the conversation.
Alpha Wade closed his eyes, taking a moment to collect his thoughts. With careful deliberation, he chose his words.
“This matter cannot be rushed.”
Ben spoke up. “Actually, I can see that Daddy is very dedicated towards Nelly recently.”
At the mention of Alpha Kilian, Alpha Wade’s eyes narrowed. He vaguely understood his grandsons’ intentions. “Gramps, did Daddy really cross the line in the past?” Ben questioned.
Alpha Wade’s displeasure flashed across his face. “I don’t want to talk about him,” he uttered curtly.
Despite his own dissatisfaction with Alpha Kilian, Alpha Wade had always refrained from speaking ill of him in front of the children.
“It seems like Daddy’s behavior was truly unacceptable!” Ben persisted.
“This is a matter between adults. You kids should not bother yourselves with this problem,” Alpha Wade insisted.
But Tony couldn’t hold back. “But I heard that the outrageous things Daddy did to Nelly were all fake,” he blurted out.
Alpha Wade was taken aback. He shifted his gaze towards Tony, curiosity mixed with concern. “Where did you learn that from?”
“From Donna, of course!” Tony replied promptly.
Alpha Wade looked away, his expression inscrutable. “What could she possibly know…”
“Few days ago, she went out to have a meal with Daddy and Mommy. They met with the female celebrity who had a scandal with Daddy back then. I heard the female celebrity personally took the initiative to clarify her relationship with Daddy to Nat, informing Nelly that nothing actually happened between her and Daddy,” Ben explained.
Alpha Wade was stunned into silence. In that moment, Tony added another piece to the puzzle. “Donna seems to be going to the set with the female celebrity today. She mentioned something about acting.”
Alpha Wade furrowed his brows, his mind spinning with new revelations. Could this be true?
Sensing his wavering resolve, Tony and Ben exchanged knowing glances. They continued to press forward.
“That’s why we’re wondering if Daddy deliberately orchestrated those rumors in the past,” Tony suggested, his voice filled with curiosity. “In fact, he’s not as bad as we imagine.”
“Not to mention, for the past few years, there haven’t been any scandals surrounding him. I think this hypothesis is highly plausible,” Ben added, supporting his brother’s theory.
Alpha Wade composed himself, his eyes trained on Tony and Ben.Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
“What’s going on? Are you two here as Alpha Kilian’s spokespeople?” he asked skeptically.
“No!”
“How is that possible?” Alpha Wade challenged.
“Cut the pretense. You two are obviously helping him with everything you’ve mentioned,” Alpha Wade accused.
“We are merely seeking your opinion, whether you think this scenario is possible,” Tony clarified.
Alpha Wade’s resolve hardened as he looked at them. “Even if what you two said is true, even if he did not commit those disgraceful acts, he did create countless issues in the past to force your mother to divorce him, right? This can’t be fake, too, I suppose? Therefore, at the end of the day, he’s just a…” He stopped himself just in time, unable to bring himself to finish the sentence. I cannot vilify Alpha Kilian in front of the kids. I must not! he reminded himself.
Ben and Tony exchanged a knowing look at their great-grandfather’s internal struggle.
“Gramps, I know you have Nelly’s best interest at heart. We are just saying that this might be a version of the truth… Besides, at the very least, this indirectly elucidates that Daddy is not a playboy as his reputation suggests. Instead, he is a relatively loyal person. Perhaps he did not harbor any feelings towards Nelly back then… That’s all,” Tony suggested cautiously.
Alpha Wade snorted, his defenses still up. “He so confidently declared his wish to marry your mother when he was little. Otherwise, I would have never agreed to their marriage.”
Tony and Ben were deeply intrigued by their great-grandfather’s revelation, their curiosity piqued. The plot thickens, they thought, eager to uncover the truth behind the complex relationships in their werewolf world.
